I love candidates who promise to do nothing and lecture us on how workable solutions to enormous problems are "off the table" even when they have no power to make that claim.

Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity? God you're so funny!

When do you think was the high point for Titanic jokes?  Around 1913, when it was long enough after the event that you could feel safe making the joke?  Or 1997, after the movie came out?

Someone fucked up Beto's left leg. Does that happen when you run all the time?

I wouldn't know, because I'm too lazy to run.

Related - today I learned that there was a movie made about the sinking of the Titanic starring an actress, Dorothy Gibson, who had survived the disaster that premiered only 29 days after the sinking of the ship. In scenes depicting her survival she even wore the actual gown she was wearing during the real events.

There was rather less sensitivity to tragedy back then, wasn't there?  There was no such thing as "too soon?".

Maybe because there was so much more tragedy back then.  But honestly--is it ever too soon now?  I remember as a kid making jokes about the Challenger disaster within a week.

Posting this whenever someone says free college is a dumb idea and not tenable (and yes you knuckle-draggers, I realize this is one university and maybe a few hundred people at most taking advantage of it).

I remember those. And they started nearly the day after.

Where did Christa McAuliffe spend her last vacation?

What does NASA stand for?

I don't recall any 911 jokes though so maybe things changed between the 80s and the 00s.  Or maybe I was just too old to hear them.

Fucking Andrew Yang's appearance on the Rubin Report was outstanding.

If the person who is the candidate doesn't see the danger of automation and the upcoming shift in our economy, we're all fucked anyways. So, unless we get behind him enough to get his ideas at least looked at, well, this country deserves what it will get.

We're looking to dinosaurs to solve problems they can't even fathom. So we're probably fucked anyway.

He's absolutely correct.

We must embrace the power and importance of collective action. Collective action is the only way we improve this nation and this world. We can only do it together.

LOL at saying they need to re-brand that word, as if any other word won't be immediately linked back to Socialism!!!

New Socialism!

Watch the candidate with actual beliefs speak about actually having beliefs.

Zero fear. Zero fucks given.

His primary opponents laughing and scorning him will only make his message more attractive to swing voters, independents, and non-voters. It only reveals how empty their politics are and how little difference there is between them and the Republicans.

First Nevada poll is GREAT news for Warren, awful news for Harris.

Biden 36
Warren 19
Bernie 13
Pete 7
Harris 6

And it’s not that Harris is losing steam but she’s not gaining. Just stuck.  And I’m seeing a lot of Blacks who aren’t drawn to her (especially black women) and instead are drawn to Warren if not Biden.

My dad, who has been switching his support like the wind, was all aboard the Harris train until Warren did her most recent MSNBC Town Hall.

So my white boomer dad who was originally a Bernie Bro in 2016 that couldn’t vote for Hillary or Trump has gone from Harris to Buttigieg to Warren to Harris and now back to Warren.

He’s not supporting Biden or Bernie this go around because he thinks they’re too old.

The most important thing is branding. The principals and ideas espoused by socialists are meaningless. It's all about that brand baby.

All of the black people I know love Bernie Sanders and tell me he is the only Democrat they would ever vote for.

John Hickenlooper having a normal one.

Hickenlooper might as well just jump on a ticket with Howard Schultz. #CENTRISMTOTHERESCUE

Saw Virgil spamming Hickenlooper's replies and couldn't believe he (some intern) was actually replying to Bernie's account. That's amazing and desperate.

Since Schultz isn't going to run, the lane is more open

Unless Biden loses frontrunner status.  Then he'll jump back in, I'm sure.  Gotta protect the centrism.

Remember when Mark Zuckerberg was thinking of running for President?  Those were the days.

if kamala doesn't win ca she's in real trouble.

even a top 2 will be a letdown.

pete has some nice momentum out here, and is getting support from former hardcore kamala people.

gonna be an interesting race.

Agreed about Kamala but the real story is Liz continues to gain on Bernie.  Bernie is losing a lot of his mojo to Liz, who is more passionate and seems more detailed and specific.  It's early but after slipping at the start, Liz has started to find her stride.  Kamala will need a moment, either in the debates or maybe in some sort of hearing or impeachment hearing to gain the momentum needed IMO.  Otherwise, I think she's a strong VP or AG choice.

yep, i agree that warren's move here is impressive.

you could argue that the biggest story since biden declared would be "once biden starts leaking points, where would those points go?"  right now, warren seems to be the prime beneficiary, possibly at the expense of bernie - since many see them as occupying similar ground.

Liz is primarily benefiting from an extended period of fawning media coverage. I'm not dismissing her, of course, but that's been the cycle so far. Biden jumped in, the media was covering him to the tune of 4x all the other candidates combined, and his numbers skyrocketed. Pete got his two weeks in the media sun and his poll numbers shot up impressively. We're still in a stage where the vast majority of voters aren't paying attention and those of us paying attention kind of gravitate to the shiniest thing.

Hopefully the machine she's been spending HUGE on to build will carry the momentum, but as the media spotlight moves around, so will the poll numbers.

It hasn't all been positive.  She was hit with "you're just like Rachel Dolezal!" in an interview.

Sure, but The Breakfast Club isn't mainstream media. That's a very specific audience and it's an audience Warren doesn't do well with in the first place.

I think what we're seeing is that many people who were waiting for Biden are becoming horrified of him being what he's always been (I don't know why they are surprised) and they need an alternative. All powerful establishment institutions and their paid mouthpieces hate Bernie, of course, so they need alternatives. Kamala was going to be the one, but she got zero traction. Beto lasted 10 seconds. Pete was the flavor for a minute, but he hasn't really taken over, so more boosting must be done.

I don't think it's an organized conspiracy against Bernie, it's just the way powerful forces move to advance their interest against opponents.

CNN, MSNBC, Politico, Vox, TheHill, etc...

In an overall strategic sense, I am EXTREMELY happy with Bernie having pulled the party so far left that Warren is considered an acceptable compromise by the establishment. If the shitlibs want to dunk on us Bernie Brocialists by nominating and fighting for Warren instead of Biden, then this is me:

Of course, I'll hoot and holler at Liz to move left if/when she beats Donald. (Especially on Medicare 4 All, the #1 beef I have with her is her absolute vagueness on universal healthcare.)

And if she doesn't beat Donald I might have a fucking aneurysm and become a Maoist third-worlder.

She is primarily benefiting from doing and saying things the media can’t ignore.  It’s hard not to fawn over her when she’s saying all this smart shit no one else is saying and CONNECTING with audiences.  The media was writing her obituary three months ago.  I have a hard time believing corporate media wants to elevate Elizabeth Warren to the presidency.

As Biden slowly collapses like a flan in a cupboard (hat-tip Eddie Izzard), the corporate world would MUUUUUCH rather have Liz than Bernie. They'd rather have Trump than Bernie.

Oh, I think there is an organized conspiracy against Bernie and there are plenty of reasons for that.  I would go on but I don’t want to deal with you lashing out at me for critiquing Bernard.

for use of the word "brocialists" you shall receive the most positive of reps.
