Arab's are pretty good when the want to, but you need to have the right personnel. And yeah, gonna be some cash changing hands.

Heard earlier force will be between 30-40 thousand troops. That is a lot of support they will need. We should open up a kebab stand.

Kebab’s for Peace. ✌️

No other real choice. Hamas is an Islamic supremacist movement and non-Islamist troops in Gaza would be the end of aby claim they have to rule. And no Europeans or Asians want a part of this.

Something in it for Israel, too— historically Arab and Muslim nations and populations rapidly lose interest in supporting Palestine in direct proportion to how much exposure they have to Palestinians.  That is for sure a bit of the calculus.

The IDF has quietly built a really good working relationship with most of these militaries even during the war. They might break the ceasefire ans shoot at locals but not peacekeepers.

Should have clarified “East Asia.” Pakistan is in Asia too. The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc aren’t going to be doing this.

Technically most of the nations are Asian. Exception is Egypt!

Man, don't they teach geography at your University? :)

Just messing with you.

I just want to leave this here and point out how incredibly racist this statement, and really the entire post is, including the part I quoted earlier.

First describing Palestinians as inherently distasteful to anyone that spends time around them (similar to how the Nazis described Jewish populations), secondly describing all of the peacekeeping forces from the Arab/Muslim nations as "Islamist".

I'm glad we have the board's staunchest supporters of the modern Jewish supremacist movement using this opportunity to let everyone know just how gross they think Muslims are. Fantastic.

I’m sorry it doesn’t match your worldview but it’s objectively true for whatever the reason you’d care to think. Surrounding Arab states started viewing the PLO as an existential threat in the 1970s (they tried to overthrow the Jordanian government) and basically all of them loathe Hamas for various reasons— only the Iranians and sort of the Qataris.

A huge reason Hamas launched October 7 was to get popular opinion wound up because there was just no focus or energy from erstwhile allies on their cause.

No argument there. You're, again, generalizing your disdain for the PLO/Hamas/whatever in the direction of every Palestinian, in a way that suitably dehumanizes them and allows you to rationalize the destruction of their lives, that you would certainly object to if it was directed towards Jews/Israelis.

If you told me that people rapidly lost sympathy for the Israeli cause the more they were forced to work with the Israelis I’d absolutely concur as I’ve seen it happen over and over.

It’s a statement of fact and not how thing should be. There’s a long history of antipathy towards the Palestinian cause especially from the neighbors that host large Palestinian populations.  Being handed the job of keeping a lid on Gaza isnt likely to be endearing.

What language would you like to see here?  "The 42% of Palestinians that voted for Hamas in 2006 and all other supporters..."?

Friend, welcome to warmed-over arguments from two years ago. Do yourself a favor and read the thread if you want to rehash those arguments.

You're not really wrong, it's just more complicated than that. Just like people love to point out the "fact" that surrounding Arab nations won't accept Palestinian refugees because they're "too dangerous" or whatever, when the reality is that (Egypt as the most pertinent example) accepting a bunch of Palestinian refugees would be tantamount to giving tacit approval to ethnic cleansing.

But anyway, I am not going to push it anymore, and I apologize for being confrontational. I am worried for family and I am just glad (as I'm sure you are) that seemingly real steps are being taken toward peace.

Trying to see which countries are there for the peace summit. Some I wouldn’t have thought of are there. Peace is such a big far away hope I have to shelve it. Much like aggy must shelve their desire to win a “natty.”

So if Hamas continues to kill tribes of Palestinians they are accusing of helping Israel in our “peace keeping” scenario the peacekeepers will do what? Jail them. Obliterate Hamas? Now that their leverage is gone? Or will the Palestinians now that a tentative deal is ongoing be emboldened by what they feel is “back up” by the Arab world and take them out? I have so many questions.

where are @956 Worldwide and @atomheartbevo

y’all are doing the best to explain all this. Are they going to share their 20 points or is it better to keep all that secret (I think it is bc different phases and attacks on those phases could dismantle the plan?)

Don’t look at me, I tuned out of his speech when he declared the Holy Land was at peace and that he had ended 8 wars in 8 months. I do not know, even with a surge of Arab/Muslim peacekeepers and humanitarian aid, how we can call it ended without some amount of time in the rear view mirror - this is not a pickup basketball game where somebody gets bumped and we say “no harm, no foul”.  Homes and lives were destroyed by the IDF.

I think Hamas might be a little/lot more careful because if there are tens of thousands of peacekeepers keeping an eye on things and Hamas is out there killing collaborators, it could blow back on them. Plenty of the peacekeepers could easily drop a dime on Hamas and let the IDF or other Palestinian groups know where they going, etc. as most of these countries would like to see Hamas knocked down a few notches for various reasons. And they could create safe havens for the Palestinians to work out of against Hamas, but I feel like that’s asking too much. I question how many of the peacekeepers want to get involved and how many just want to serve their time and go home.

i do think a lesson was learned by anybody wanting to do something like this in the future - take a lot of prisoners.

I also think there are thousands, probably tens or even hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, who hate Israel with a all their being and who might be willing to sacrifice themselves to kill Israelis, because they lost everything, including relatives and friends. They are extremely easy to radicalize against Israel because it was Israeli forces who fucked up their shit. Our friends in Israel are concerned about this going forward.  I haven’t talked to them in a few weeks though, but even a massive surge in humanitarian aid can’t easily paper over that anger and resentment, and feeling so powerless.

Yep, the rebuild is going to be a bitch. And eyes will always on you.

One question I have is where will these 30K troops going to live? Where is the resupply route? I would choose Rafah or over the shore.

How do Jimmy and Joe's make money off the rebuild? Just invest in stocks ike Jacobs and Fleur and KBR who typically get rebuilding contracts from the US government? What are you guys thinking is the opportunity here as capital will be invested to rebuild, etc.?

Ask Jared Kushner.

The petrostates and the Europeans are going to be pressed to donate. And right now the smart money is just to invest in those contractors because there’s no foreseeable decent investment climate for the strip itself.
