I agree more with jimmyjazz's take on the middle over yours. I don't think your conception of the middle is completely invalid, I just think that it is theoretical and the middle is compromise in the sense that neither or us are the emperor of America and a reasonable central ground will be a mixed bag of your ideas, my ideas and jimmy's ideas.

Everyone has an ideology, whether they acknowledge it or not or whether they are open to compromise or not.

You have ideas and beliefs that exist completely independent of other people's arguments. That is what determines your political alignments.

Like all 30 year old dip shits, who live at home, have a part time bouncer job, and a kid they can't support...5 dwi's and a couple other convictions...Kino is a FUCKING AMERICAN HERO!!

He's sadly a leftist hero...but they seemingly hate America these days.

Kino Jiminez gives us ALL something to aspire to....

I think this guy is a total piece of trash. That said, could you go ahead and post the link to Kiki’s criminal record? It will need offense dates and dispositions of the charges in order to understand them.

I only see 1 DUI charge but this is for Bexar county only.

Willingness to be reasonable and compromise is not "middle". You have ideas, values, and ethics. You have policy ideas you think should exist. The "middle" is not a thing as far as political alignment.

interesting take.  I always considered myself middle as well.  I've voted Dem and Rep.  Believe there is a god, but laugh at the idea of church.  Pro-choice, believe in the right to bare arms, but also need some type of gun control.  Support gay rights and marriage because if they want to be miserable As fuck like us let them. Also support gender quality, my wife better get a job and earn money  F that sitting at home stuff.  Also believe in capitalism and dont shit on the wealthy, they obviously worked harder than i chose to sans trust fund babies.  the left digusts the very fuck out of me right now, much as the right did 8 years ago  So to your theory am I not middle?  maybe we create a new 3rd party called the Give no fucks party? LOL

Cookie was defining the middle as a position of compromise absent ideals. You're very clearly expressing ideals that you value and believe in.

but are these not values and ideals that both sides vigorously cling to when they identify with a side?

I don't really follow this question.

"The answer is in the middle" is not a value system. If it is, it's worthless. It's entirely dependent on others having ideas and reacting to them, and beyond that it's still completely subjective as to what the "sides" even are. Those who try to dismiss the existence of their subjectivity are not accomplishing anything constructive, and the "I stay in the middle" presumes that everyone else except the person in the middle is an idiot who is wrong and needs to be moderated.

Curious as to what you listed Sgt that isn’t at the very least a D platform. The left is what disgusts you right now? Just not following... Are you insinuating the left doesn’t believe in God? Or they are trying to abolish the 2nd amendment?

To figure what I am and what I am about I sometimes take the opposite approach and know what I definitely am not. Support the separation of parent and child for coming to America? No. Support unbridled capitalism with no regard for others or the environment? No. Support ridiculous prison sentences for ridiculous crimes such as what a person chooses to put into their own body? No.

Lets be honest these issues are about controlling the population. Control. They don’t care about your well being. It’s not about God or trying to save your soul. It is all about control. Money and power over the human being.

What is the problem with ensuring the children of this country get the best education possible no matter the cost? Is it ridiculous to expect a ROI? We are wasting our most valuable resource the minds and education of young people. For what? So somewhere along the way those with an extraordinary amount of wealth can get another shiny toy? A person in America should have the opportunity to educate themselves to their maximum potential to really make America great. Fuck this cost bullshit figure it out or die trying. Is it too much to ask that our population have decent healthcare? We can spend enormous amounts of money building weapons of war to either sit there or kill each other but it’s too much to ask that everyone have decent health? Again can we not expect a ROI on a healthy population?

Do what I say when and how I say to do it. I can only hope the socialism America is pushing these days will grant more freedoms at the end. The freedom to be educated to be healthy to have control of ones body and mind at the very least. I know what is happening now isn’t anything close to that.

That’s all good and well. But to get there it will involve massive tax increases on the middle class.  You can’t take enough from the rich to get there.  Go look at the Nordic model.  They raise a lot of money to pay for their programs because they have a relatively flat tax. Everyone pays a high rate. Not just the rich.

So the idea you can achieve Nordic socialism by taxing the rich is bullshit. Everyone will have to pay.  A lot.

Figure it out. Never said it was as simple as taxing the rich. It will cost a ton financially physically emotionally for some but I’d wager America would be better off. Not tomorrow or next year or a decade. Generations. The damage has been done this is not a quick fix.

Restrict speech? No need the truth is self evident. Those spouting bullshit will be told by the masses they are spouting bullshit. Especially with an educated population. There is no time or need for hate. To what end? Say what you want believe what you want but be prepared to deal with what you have coming.

I would trust the word of an immigrant over the word of an ICE officer in a hot second.

But please answer this for me:
Is the US government, via ICE or CBP or any other agency, working to determine the actual parentage of any of these children? If yes, what are they doing?

A better question would be, why are we even wasting our resources on illegal aliens with no passport or visa? Send them back.

Draw what line? Where? You're inventing a bogeyman and then asking me why I'm being a bogeyman.

I do not want the government interfering with speech and I don't know of any leftist movements to get the government to interfere with speech.

I am curious what it is you think you're seeing from the left.

Sending them back takes resources.

Also, they're human beings worthy of dignity, freedom, rights, and a chance to succeed.

I agree that all immigration should be merit based. I have a feeling we'd disagree on how to determine merit.

"Are you a breathing not-criminal who wants to be here?"

If the answer is "yes", you merit a quick path to citizenship.

I am too old and have too much money to be ANTIFA. The rotten and broken leftist brain I have is encased in a body and wardrobe that screams, "Compassionate conservative!"

You need to watch a video on immigration. We cant fix all of the world's problems by taking in anyone and everyone who wants to come here. That is a good way to dilute our country's wealth and undermine the current citizens. Think about it, hundreds of millions of people could pour into our country and we still wouldn't even put a dent in the world's poverty problem. And then our country would be flooded and ruined.

People can get in line and wait there turn at the discretion of our country; it is our right to determine who enters our country. I have zero sympathy for those who illegally immigrate. If you don't have borders, you don't have a country.

That stupid gumball video?

The purpose of taking people in isn't the fix the world's problems. The purpose of taking people in is recognizing our shared humanity.

If you truly want to keep people from wanting to come here, then you should be advocating for us to spend resources improving their nations of origin so they do not have to run away for safety or economic opportunity.

This is dumb. Extremely fucking dumb. There are >220M more people in the US now than in 1920. Our nation is neither flooded nor ruined. We could very easily accommodate hundreds of millions more.

Just say you don't want more brown people. Cut to the chase.

My point is that the modern "middle" is the old right.  Things have migrated towards the right for decades now.  Part of that is creeping unfettered capitalism.  Well, most of it is.  Some of it is previously hidden bigotry.

At any rate, I'm not interested in the modern "middle".  It's too much of a compromise in the context of American history.

This is ridiculous.  Gay marriage is legal now, abortion is legal now, welfare, social security, Medicaid, and other socialist programs have existed for decades.  How in the holy fuck has the country moved to the right?

The militarization of police forces.

The government now works more for the big corporations instead of the American people.

The vilification of immigrants and Muslims while ignoring the even more violent right wing extremist groups.

This is true and what jimmyjazz said is also true. Its because we no longer have a true middle in governance. We have a polarized middle that governs with the President, but is popularly opposed by centrist citizens. The actual middle gets nothing.

That mass immigration invasion is sure working out well for Europe. It might just break up the EU.

The country was founded on LEGAL immigration, not illegal.

Tent cities and garabage bags filled with human feces, homeless veterans with shitty health care, failing public school systems, failing social security service - these are issues Americans should be spending those recourses not the illegal invasion.

You are an ivory tower communist. As you pointed out on the other thread, you have plenty of money and are too old for ATIFA, you want anyone who shows up and claims to not be a criminal granted “asylum”. You want to make sure poor Americans do not have the same opportunity that put you in that ivory tower so you can feel like Mother Teresa while shitting on a whole class of people (Americans).

You support policies that have zero effect on your standard of living but will make it even more difficult for the lower economic Americans and their children.

Your children don’t have to compete for education or health care or jobs and affordable housing so not your problem right?

Yep, I'm sure all those European immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries already had their residency applications approved before the got to Ellis Island.
