Sorting through the new mock drafts, I don’t think there will be a player available that can break into the Rocket’s rotation. They need to package this pick or roll the dice on a “lottery ticket” in a future draft.

You can easily make room by moving off of players that fell apart in the playoffs. Namely, Green and Brooks.

Pre-lottery mocks offered Derik Queen (C, Maryland) as a big man with the most ball skills in recent drafts that could play 5 if we want to use bigger lineups.

I’m a casual who reads summaries and box scores but only watches about 10 games a year. Has Jalen shown much improvement year to year? He’s an incredible athlete that can go off for a game then disappear for multiple games, while not making his teammates better. That same trend showed up in the playoffs. He seems like the type who should be alpha dog on a shitty team and put up great fantasy stats.

Jesus Christ dude you’re about to RocketDerka this thread…

Brooks, Tate and the suns picks for KD. Hope KD forces his way in. Lets see where the young guys are in two seasons.

I think Brooks name is dirt league wide. Ime might value what he does, but the rest of the league doesn’t. Maybe a young, bad team is looking for a veteran to toughen them up. It only takes 1 team to say I suppose.

is philly this desperate ?

Mike Levin (@Michael_Levin) from @RTRSPodcast proposed an interesting hypothetical trade last night:

HOU gets: 3rd pick

PHI gets: 10th pick, Tari Eason

I like Eason, but is the third pick even good enough to get minutes on this team?

They weren't last year.

The Rockets have a need that can't be fixed by the draft.

You aren't adding another 19 or 20 year old who is going to sit on the bench and find a consistent scorer in the play offs and there are not multiple options to fill that hole with someone who fits what you want concerning their age, fit with the head coach, and not cost you a ton of young players you are hoping to develop.

I would do it to reset the contract one of the younger guys and Eason isn't a long term solution on this team and is a RFA after this upcoming season.

I’d definitely do that to take Tre.

PHI wants another person with injury issues to go along with Embiid?

I mean... Tari is 6'8" which is what Morey covets.

watching the playoffs tells you not to blow it up and get Giannis, but KD could be the missing piece to a title next season.  Add Schroeder to round out the PG position.

im not giving up any of the core players

List of Houston Rockets to make 1st Team All-Defense-

Amen Thompson ('25)
Patrick Beverley ('17)
Scottie Pippen ('99)
Rodney McCray ('88)
Hakeem Olajuwon ('87, '88, '90, '93, '94)

Schroeder would walk to Houston for 2 years $50 million. FVV’s agent isn’t doing his job if he doesn’t ask 3 years $100 million. The only impediment is the Ime+FVV bromance.

I wonder how involved Titter Tilman is. Dude is living his best life in Rome. It’s probably a series of conversations do whatever you want, keep me under their luxury tax conversations with Stone.

Isn't his son in charge now?

Locked on discussing

FVV + Pick 10 for J Brown before July 1st (Boston declines team option and gets under the second apron)

*you could even resign FVV after he is cut (i think)

Sounds like some giga wishcasting.  Boston isn't trading Brown.

With Tatum likely out for the season and their estimated tax bill in the 9 figures. They would be smart to try to slip under the 2nd apron.

They could get more for Brown. Too smart of a franchise to do just a straight salary dump.

I think they will trade Brown and Holliday. The second apron thing, and they’ve essentially been replaced by Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.

the knicks will over pay for durant

could be an opportunity to be a 3rd part of that deal

Sounds great, but the Knicks don’t have any picks. Bridges and Mitchell Robinson are their best young assets. Their bench is incredibly short and they won’t have a first until after 2031.

I’m coming around on the Illinois kid after listening to a couple podcasts. That said, he probably won’t contribute in 2026. Not sure if that’s what the team needs right now.

Is not.

However, if no real trade with the pick comes up, it's always good to stack good, young players. The window opens and shuts quickly without young talent.

So Durant and Lopez are the same age, but only Durant is too old for the Rockets?! Ok Brad.

We’ll see on Reed. I’d love to the practice on Reed because Ime was getting on his ass about something. The Rockets went long stretches without a healthy point guard in the rotation and sent Reed to the G-League. &nbsp

I’m more focused on the return for Whitmore than his potential. He can fill it up on a bad team, but how valuable is that?

Windhurst dropping Toronto as Giannis destination probably isn’t an accident. He’s an international guy, Toronto might appeal to him. Given his loyalty to the Bucks, I’d imagine they’ll allow him to pick his landing spot.

What do the Suns have that the Rockets would want not named Booker and Durant?

It makes sense that Reed needed a year to adjust to the NBA. One season as a 6th man at Kentucky to contributing on a NBA playoff team is a huge ask at his height/size.

Reed could have been ROY for all we know if getting 30 mins a night on a dog shit team like the Spurs

The salaries aren't even close to matching on that one.

2025 FVV -$44.8 m

2025 Durant - $49.86 m

or

2025 Booker - $49.2 m

Tate is making $7 m for filler if needed.

Sorry, I misread. I thought it said Durant and Booker. If you do a deal with Phoenix I would want both Durant and Booker.

Could maybe send Brooks, Whitmore and #10 to get 2 years of Cam Johnson. That would be an upgrade on offense, but a drop on defense. I would prefer to work a deal to send Green out for him, but I can't imagine the Nets would go for that.

Why go for him when Rick Carlyle could be had for the same price?

Can the coach of a NBA team be traded?

The answer to that question is: yes.

In fact, there have been five times in the past when a NBA coach has been traded, and some of these trades involved some of the biggest names in the NBA coaching fraternity.

1. Mike Dunleavy, Sr.

Dunleavy, Sr. was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.

The Lakers were looking to make a change in the post-Magic Johnson era, while the Bucks were looking for a strong head coach.

2. Pat Riley.

Pat Riley left the New York Knicks for the Miami Heat in 1995.

The NBA investigated the Heat and Riley for tampering, and eventually decided that the Knicks should be compensated with a first-round pick, as well as $1 million cash.

3. Stan Van Gundy.

In 2007, Van Gundy was traded from the Miami Heat to the Orlando Magic.

The agreed-upon price for Van Gundy was two 2nd round picks in the 2008 NBA Draft.

4. Doc Rivers.

In 2013, five years after leading the Boston Celtics to a title, Doc Rivers was traded from the Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 1st-round pick.

Despite having a loaded team and Doc Rivers as their coach, the Clippers were unable to win a title.

5. Jason Kidd.

In 2014, the Brooklyn Nets traded Jason Kidd to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.

100% agree on keeping him but the knicks could throw a huge contract out there

He can do what he did in Boston, that seemed to get him out of the contract though I am not sure that was his intent.

hey man, he can't help it if pussy is addicted to him

i only bring it up because id imagine the knicks have a huge contract waiting for their next coach

Not exciting but that would be the team gambling on Green this season.

Thompson should be taking Brooks starting minutes and Jabari should get his starter role back.
