Nikkis is still open? Really? Are you shitting me? Do they still have gigantic fucking sushi rolls that make it damn near impossible to eat with chopsticks? Do you still have to sit on that nasty ass carpet?

Yes. As is everything at Garcias. Carne guisada. Puerco guisada. Brisket nachos. Everything is fantastic there.

I’ve never been. Will try and check it out this weekend. Usually just hit up Taco Bell for Mexican since Helobious said he highly recommends the local chain

If I'd known it was that kind of party, I would have stuck my dick in the mashed potatoes carne guisada.

Oblate was my go to on the way from kids school (Lee or Nimitz) and my office on 410

Oblate Cafe? Is this some kind of Blanco Cafe knockoff? I've never heard of it, but I was raised on Blanco Cafe.

Looking at pictures from Garcia's on Google I want this plate whatever it is called:

As well as this bowl of fideo

Might just get the regular cheese enchilada plate and see if they'll add brisket to the fideo

does anyone have a top notch south texas carne g recipe ?

I’ll have to dig up my mom’s. It’s not what a lot of folks are used to (thicker brown gravy, heavy comino). It’s simple - floured and browned meat, onions, garlic, tomatoes, a bit of broth, and time to simmer. Best made with venison. For real, we had family from Mexico who, when they would come visit, would ask my mom - NOLA born, but S Texas raised - to make it.
