Mauricio Dubon- Who is he? I think he’s the first human being from Honduras to play in the Major Leagues.

No love for the great Gerald Young?

Seems like we keep getting linked to Cedric Mullins in the articles I am seeing. I want nothing to do with him and his .214 batting average and sub .700 OPS. If he is the trade option I'd rather just roll with Smith, Melton (once back), Trammel, and Dubon in the outfield (while we wait for Meyers to supposedly come back this season).

good read as usual, @Wulaw Horn

how do I get in the mix for the playoff tickets or whatever you’re offering? Follow the medium account?

Yessir.
and Jin texted me about 5 minutes after the article was posted about Gerald young. Damn it.

Gusto and Gordon don't do it for you?

I mean, Gordon seems to be the anti Walter and has a rabbit foot up his ass. Gusto has been fine. I will be glad when both of them are replaced by Arrrighetti and Javier.

September 1 we should be looking at:

SP- Framber, Brown, Walter, Arrighetti, Javier, Garcia

Pen- Hader, Abreu, Sousa, Okert, King, Gusto, Gordon, France?  (you get 14 as of 9/1). LMJ is on the IL for the year- those blisters man, they can be tricky.  He gets a normal off season to go into 2026 where he's pitching for his life.

Lineup:

Diaz, Walker, Matthews, Pena, Dubon, Altuve, Melton, Smith, Alvarez.

Bench:  Caratini, Trammel, Singleton, Short, Guillerme.

Paredes is pretty clearly likely out for the year.  My suspicion would be the same for Meyers.
Need 1 high impact bat that can play 3B.

My goodness, is that Carlos Correa's music I hear? Allegedly Twins would love to move him, he has a NTC, Houston is about the only team he'd waive it for.  Crane likes the idea.  Get er done, Jimbo!

Pena and Correa on the same side of the infield, man I'd like to see that.  So would the pitching staff.  Not a knock on Paredes, as he's good in the field.

At the same time… Correa and the Astros medical staff in the same training facility, man I’d hate to see that.

play him at first or DH. We have room for an MLB hitter

Yeah, if we can trade Walker in the deal for Correa, but we already have two DHs on this club in Altuve and Alvarez, but it's stupid to bring in a 30 year old that can't stay healthy and plays the same position as two of your better young guys. Go trade for O'Neil Cruz instead. He's a much better fit than Correa and his $100M+ still owed.

Paredes could play 2nd or 1st and we would be back to having an elite infield defense that can also hit.  It's not my money.

Edit: Correa's deal is front loaded and the last 2 years of it are 15 and 10 million.

They're gonna have to lengthen the pitch clock or come up with some kind of rule change.  It clear the current situation isn't tenable for starting pitchers.  It's not just happening to the Astros, though no one has it this bad.  Most human beings just can't throw as hard as they can at the current rate pitchers are expected to.

Im pretty sure it’s internet click bait to begin with but I don’t want Correa anywhere around this team and especially not for $30+ million a year. Pay that money to Framber if you’re gonna spend it. Correa has 0.1 WAR. His running ability and pop are both disappearing. Has 1 stolen base since 2019, has not hit 20 homers in 3 years. Brittle. No thanks. We had the best years of him. Watch a highlight.

Correa would put buts in the seats, and if we can win another title, his statue can go next to Altuve's in front of the stadium

he'll play at a higher level here and he'd fit in great at 3rd

Yes and no.  That's not really right.  He really only has 3 years and 100M left.  The last 4 are all vesting options. They go 25, 20, 15, 10. They require over 500 plate appearances.  So, if he sort of sucks in 2028 (the last year that's guaranteed) you just sit him 20 or 30 times or have him hit 8th or let nature take it's course, it doesn't vest and you don't owe him any of that....

I have to admit, I get a bit of sick pleasure waiting to find out what insane lineup we're about to trot out there each night.  Cam leading off?  Sure!  Caratini batting third?  Might as well!  Hummel in the 6 spot?  Okay!
