Every underclass player took a significant step between match 1 and 2. AVW, Spears, Ames. Even Bunton looked significantly better than Friday night

ASU and Stanford will be big tests, along with TCU and Baylor, but this team is gonna be scary by December, not to mention very tested by the start of SEC play

New assistant is doing well with our floor defense in the back row and we outblocked Wisky. If we get Ella’s sets a little better, watch out. Come on Hunt, do some magic. (and even her sets improved between Friday and today)

I kept meaning to look hard, but failed to, but I think Ella's not jump setting.

I also didn’t look that hard. Or notice that the tape fingers mafia is gone. Was that a Sullivan thing?? Because we ain’t running them out there anymore

Was there a huge VB showcase last year on this Labor Day Sunday?  Yesterday was bad ass and the big time programs/coaches should make that day a massive VB showcase every year.

Ohhh TCU star player down. Oh no

Was meal prepping with the game on in the background and everything was fine until I heard these screams coming from the tv and the first thing I thought “someone tore an acl”

As of week 2, #2 Texas plays or will play:

#3 Louisville (in FW)
#4 Kentucky (took Corn to 5)
#6 Stanford (Moody)
#7 ASU
#8 Wisconsin (won 3-0)
#10 Texas A&M (road)
#12 Florida (road)
#13 Creighton (won 3-0)
#16 Missouri
#20 Baylor
#24 TCU (beat Penn State in 5)

RV: Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU (road), Rice (road)

Pablo has our non-conf SOS #1.  Elliot recently said it is the toughest non-conf he has ever put together, which is a huge thing considering we are starting 2 freshmen pin hitters, with 1 of them is playing 6 rotations, and first-year Texas program players in Stafford and Gary.

The broadcast on Sunday said Texas has brought in the #1 class (Spears, AVW, Harvey and Krueger) and supposedly has the #1 class next year (Cugino, Anderson, Harris)

2025 class was the #1, 3, 8, 25 recruits. Harvey was the #1 MB, AVW was the #1 OH and Spears was #3 OH. I think Krueger was the #2 libero and is likely redshirting

@Js1 or others just as informed. I haven't been able to watch either match thus far, but obviously they went well.

Are y'all able to give a rundown on the biggest differences in terms of offensive/defensive strategy, or anything else notable, so far this season vs. last?

I don't really have a volleyball background, but really trying to learn more.

Too soon to say we just look fundamentally more sound, outside of setting?

Halter, Gary, Stafford and Spears are locking down the back row with digs and excellent passing.

Ames also looks much more comfortable and mature in the middle. She’s reading the setter a lot better than she did as a freshman.

What she lacks in her pure setting compared to Carlson or even Binney, Swindle continues to put up a huge block, dig balls and attack when she sees an opening.

We are playing a little faster, it seems, and relying more on our floor defense over our young block.

1.) We're passing well.

2.) Our defense, especially our blocking, is much improved. Our backrow defense is also better.

Our block does look fundamentally better, especially Ames

I dont know much but aren't we a lot taller this year?

Setter was 5'11 Carlson last year to 6'3 Swindle this year.  Outside hitters last year were 6'2 Skinner, 6'1 Wenaas, 6'0 Rutherford. To 6'2 Stafford, 6'3 Vander Wal, 6'3 Spears.  They look taller this year.

Yes. Much bigger on the pins and at setter. Bunton is barely a difference from Mari - 6’3 vs 6’4

Thought about going, but something else came up. Rice has given Texas fits before, but I think we should handle business today

They are 1-1, swept by aggy and swept UCA

They never scored more than 18 in a set against aggy. We should handle business easily

Huh, that's a new one. I guess they figure B1G fans just love watching volleyball, which is true, but I've never seen two teams outside of a conference televised on that conference's network.

Looks like a tournament at Purdue. Texas and Creighton were on BTN last Friday since the tournament was at Wisconsin

Ella needs to make some better decisions.

Actually that was Binney in the Hawaiian double sub
