We'll do the typical Gundy vanilla playbook and likely escape with a 7-10 point win.

I mean you're giving them 26.5 points. Guessing UT Martin is pretty fucking awful. Granted y'all have certainly had some adventures as of late against non-con cupcakes.

So this guy is under .500 over 4 years with over 400 picks but someone is allegedly paying him to write gambling previews? Talk about an easy fucking paycheck. I could ask AI to make picks and it would probably bat .500. Shit - maybe that's what he's doing.

Coming off a bad year, most touts tend to change their brands--e.g., going from "Bookie Busters" one year to "Can't-Miss Sports" the next. Then, posing as a new, hot entity, they continue to fleece the same customer base. What's amazing is that this guy continues to let his skirt fly up and show his <50% history when anything less than 53% loses money to the books. I sure as hell wouldn't follow a tout who doesn't have enough sense not to publicly brag about a losing record.

-Boise State at USF - I think USF will be a good team this year. Give me USF over Life After Jeanty.

-Ohio at Rutgers - Rutgers gets way too much credit for being some sort of super tough program. I give Schiano credit for turning them around again, but 7-6 on the reg doesn't mean your tough just because your school is the flagship of a shithole state. That said, the Ohio dude left for fucking Charlotte, so Rutgers rolls in an ugly one.

-East Carolina at NC State - I am foolishly taking NCSU because I enjoy being letdown.

-Miami (OH) at Wiscy - Fickell is on the hot seat. I am interested in seeing just how bad Wisconsin might be and using this game as a pulse check on that.

-Nebraska vs Cincy - I think Satterfield is a buffoon and I've always thought that Rhule was a good coach. Folks have been too hard on Raiola after playing every game as a true freshman. I like Nebraska way bigger than 6.5 tonight, I don't care who Cincinnati has coming back.

I really like what Nebraska did in the portal.  Key from KY was one of the best pickups that no one talked about.  If Raiola has a sophomore jump, Key will have a really big year.  They made some other nice pickups and have a very easy schedule.  Bet they win by 20.

I don't care for either program, but I'm kinda hoping Miami wins simply because it will motivate ND all the more two weeks later when they host aggy.  The Irish know they will have no shot at a playoff spot if they lose both games.

One of my girlfriend's sorority sisters is the director of recruiting at Cincy - cool person, she's a big fan of Satterfield on a personal level, but every time she talks about him I hear "nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you, go home and play with your kids."

Moving a random Cincy/Nebraska discussion from the Texas/OSU thread to here.

Found THIS Homer breakdown on the Husker thread. Would be curious about your thoughts as it seemed like a good one to me. However, I don't know what I don't know and it was a homer.

On paper, Cincinnati looks like they can be a decent ball club. They return their QB and a 1st team All Big 12 TE. They bring in spares from A&M at WR and Walker from OU/Wiscy at TB. They have some OLs coming back.

On defense, Cincy returns like 4-5 of their own guys and 3-4 starters from other backwater programs like Coastal and NMSU. They have some talent including the mobster veteran DT, Corleone, who has NFL talent.

The problem for Cincinnati is that Satterfield is an imbecile and should not be a P4 HC. I assume he’ll be fired after this season and they’ll try to hire Fickell back after he’s shitcanned going 4-8 at Wisconsin.

Nebraska, as mentioned, has a now veteran Raiola playing QB. Dane Key, as Drebin said, is a stud transfer. Emmett Johnson has played TB there for awhile. They like him plus two others and all will get carries with Holgerson calling the shots. They return two starters on the OL plus two good OL transfers that started for years at ND and Bama.

The defense is mostly home grown and we’re going find out if Rhule is as good of a developer as I think he is because there are a bunch of new starters in the front 7, only 2 of whom have transferred in to Lincoln. The secondary has a ton of experience as starters.

I just think Rhule is a good coach and Satterfield is a bad coach. I take Nebraska all day in this one.

I don't know why a bigger fish didn't portal tamper Corleone away from Cincinnati. I guess he has an NIL deal with a local restaurant that serves the Godfather Burger in his name, so maybe that was too much to overcome.

He looked like Suh going against Chris Hall in the Big 12 championship. Had his way with the Nebraska OL. Maybe he's just that good as a 5th year player. He's been pretty good previously. But he looked dominant against Nebraska. I thought he was the best player on the field in that game.

Friday:

-Western Michigan at Michigan State - mostly because there aren't any games worth a damn besides Auburn/Baylor and GaTech/CU. WMU was decimated by the portal and they replaced upwardly mobile talent with FCS guys in many instances and, really, who gives a shit? I don't.

What I do care about a little is MSU. I think Smith is a good coach. No one is talking about MSU, mostly because they've sucked for a while. They're picked by everyone towards the bottom of the Big 10. The QB Chiles kind of sucked last year after running his mouth before the season, but he should be improved and Nick Marsh is a stud WR. MSU avoids OSU and Oregon, but they also avoid Purdue, NW, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. Getting to a bowl will be tough even if they're improved, but if they're going to get there, being good enough to blowout a shitty WMU team would be a good start.

-Auburn at Baylor - I've heard the SEC talking heads all week speak of this game as though it should be a "dogwalking of Baylor by Auburn" (quoting Chris Marler on SEC Radio yesterday). These clowns think they know ball and all they really know is "muh SEC" and it is always old. Baylor has NFL talent all over the field on offense. Baylor returns 5 starters from a poor defense, but they added talent from the portal and their star LB returns.

While I don't think Baylor is a particularly difficult place to play, Auburn has been a dogshit road team. They were 1-3 on the road last year with a win over shitty Kentucky. Auburn has a great WR corps, the interior of the OL is back, Arnold may or may not be worth a shit, Kendric Faulk is good and also overrated and Durkin DC'd them to a top 30 defense last season. I expect Baylor to win and I am interested in seeing if BU does win, do we some sort of complete meltdown in or immediately after the game from Hugh Freeze, who comes across like a ticking timebomb to me.

-Georgia Tech at Colorado - Colorado basically replaces everyone on offense except their LT. Salter was great at Liberty playing against the weakest schedule in the country every season. How does he handle things against a better slate of teams with a completely inexperienced group around him? The defense isn't in much better shape and the strength of the D from last season, the secondary, has basically been wiped out. They're counting on a ton of transfers turning their careers around up front.

Haynes the RB and Haynes King return for GT, but the offense needs to replace 3 OL, 2 WRs and the TE. I'm sure Key will have the OL in sync, though. The defense returns Efford at LB and 3 other starters, but they're largely being rebuilt as well. Can Gideon actually be a competent DC? I doubt it, but I am biased because of Tech in '08 and will never get over it. Nonetheless, I am taking Georgia Tech to win this one on the road.

I watched that infamous Kennesaw State loss for Liberty last year and Kaidon Salter had some of the worst, most petulant body language I've ever seen from a hyped starting QB out there. I'm very curious what he's going to do without a distinct talent advantage every game.

It is so crazy to me that Auburn put together a very good roster, including an elite WR room, and then went and got Jackson Arnold to QB the team. They couldn't moneywhip Duke and get Mensah? Or Indiana for Mendoza? I'm sure those guys got massive offers, but if you're going to spend a boatload on Eric Singleton Jr. you should probably get a guy who can throw him the ball. The thing that gives me pause is that in most Auburn games, I handicap a big coaching edge for whoever is going up against Huge Freeze. Aranda is one of the guys that I don't think has a sizable edge on him. Ultimately, I'm taking Baylor to win straight up.

Something that I haven't heard anyone note is that Aranda was the DC at LSU in 2016 during Freeze's last year at Ole Miss. They went into halftime tied. Aranda and LSU shut Ole Miss out in the second half for the win. Held them to 94 total yards in the last 2 quarters and 50 of those yards were in garbage time as the game was ending. Long time ago, so probably doesn't matter. Probably.

Baylor's offense should be physical and salty. They have a variety of ways to advance the ball, but little home-run power. Baylor could starve Auburn's offense by holding on to the ball all game.

On the other hand, I have zero confidence in Baylor's ability to defend a pass. If he's unbothered, I believe Arnold is still good enough to hit open receivers. A couple of "hey, I thought you had that guy!" defensive miscues could be enough to swamp the game.

You don't think Josh Cameron and Bryson Washington have home run power? Cameron caught for 14.5 ypc and 10 TDs last year while Washington averaged 5.9 ypcarry with 12 TDs and averaged 10 ypcatch and an additional TD. Those are great numbers in my view.

I thought Aranda was pretty sound as a DC, but that his game management in the games I've watched at Baylor is below the median. However, Huge Freeze is beyond atrocious in that department so Baylor still likely has the coaching edge. Cristobal and Freeze are the two main guys at big programs that move the line a point or two in my mind just by existing.

Both those guys are excellent.  Cameron is also a special, special punt return man.  Wish we could have got him to portal.  I think you said we tried to.

Dave Aranda perpetually has the look of a man who is cornered in a bedroom by a beautiful woman, who has just slowly taken off her panties without breaking eye contact, and he is terrified and looking for a way out of the situation and coming up completely blank.

I should have just said JerseyMan.

I can’t see myself in 3rd person. So that doesn’t make sense.

But we’ve also seen men flat terrified of women. Scares them to death. I mean, I bet we could circle a half a dozen on this website having never laid eyes on them, solely based on their posting.
