the important lesson(which should have been learned years ago) is that SOS means shit.  you can have a SOS in the 50's(or 70's)and get in.

I do think the committee will use this unknown SOR to put us 11 or 12 and thus out.  "sorry so close Texas, that Florida loss, hmm just too bad".  they came up with SOR for just this reason.  no one knows how it is calculated so they can game the number and point to it.

We have played 5 top 10 teams this year and beat 3 of them and the two we lost were one score games in the 4th quarter. Nobody wants to play us. Even if they think they will beat us, they know it will be a dogfight. They would much rather face gimp Mateer or ND.

Cool, you're able to speak for the thoughts of opposing coaches and coaching staffs.

Got it.

I think you are placing too much faith in this week’s rankings. Tech has a bad loss already and nobody respects the BYU win. It’s a pretty weak resume

gotta love the NCAA wanting and benefiting  from big rating$, lot$ of hype, week 1 primetime game...but if you lose, they'll toss you aside as if its a big blemish and you should've taken easy street and lower your strength of schedule by 30-40 spots.

OU scheduled Texas.  Loss

Aggie scheduled Texas.  Loss

No, the SEC scheduled those games. Just like it scheduled us to play Florida and Georgia. I have no issue saying we should be ahead of OU since we beat them head to head. I do think it's silly to say we should be ahead of aggy when they didn't lose any other SEC games. Yeah, they benefited from a soft schedule as did we last year.

The committee is not penalizing CCG participants if they are in the top 12 going into the CCG.

Wouldnt you rathe face ND or OU instead of Texas? Lol. Dont be intentionally naive.

You do know it's not difficult to game plan for Sark's offense right. Pretty sure Day and Kirby don't find Texas particularly alarming.

Posted (edited)

Spare me the "just don't lose to Florida" crap. Yes, obviously that game is an issue, but like Sark said if we're 10-2 right now and never played that Ohio State game, we're in.

Just a thought exercise, let's say hypothetically, Alabama loses to Georgia in the conference championship.

What's the difference between Bama and Texas?

Texas - bad loss to Florida

Bama - very bad loss to Florida State (who just got manhandled by Florida)

Texas - top 5 loss to Georgia (who lost to Bama)

Bama - top 10 loss to Oklahoma (who lost to Texas)

Texas - highest win vs #3 A&M

Bama - highest win vs #4 Georgia

Literally the only difference is that Texas played at undefeated Ohio State and Bama hosted 4-8 Wisconsin.

Yet Bama will be in the playoffs and we won't

(This is obviously moot if Bama wins the conference)

Our resume is being punished for having the balls to choose to schedule the best teams and then go play in the most difficult conference in the country.

Don't get butthurt my man. I said y'all have a strong argument. It's just a crowded field in that 10-15 area. Somebody has to be out.

I vaguely recall many people, myself included, mocking aggie when they accused our SEC schedule of being soft. But hell, my memory sucks so maybe I'm making it up.

The dumbest part of all is having OU at #8. They are a bad team.

It just means more when you're at home and barely beat a terrible LSU team

We have a pretty good record against literally everyone not named UGA or OSU for a team that is easy to game plan against. LOL

The Florida loss was the snake bite. Getting butt fucked by Georgia didn't help. Our record earned us bubble team status.

Sark spent most of the season trying to course correct this team and the offensive play calling. We had a chance at beating Ohio State, losing to Florida is inexcusable and the butt fucking by Georgia is also inexcusable.

The Texas team who had a single 100 yard rusher against one of the worst defenses in the SEC. Yeah, Im sure the entire top 10 is quaking in their boots.

I guess we're going to ignore the Texas team who most recently had 218 yards of rushing against a top-25 run defense. When a QB can't hit wide open forward passes, obviously teams are going to load up to stop the run.

I've argued that Georgia is the reason we had an insurmountable deficit to overcome in the CFP. We went from 10 to 17. We didn't drop to 17 because of losing to Ohio State in late August.

tim tebow lost more games in one season than VY did in his career, and that’s not even accounting for urban meyer vs mack brown and how they impact their teams. 2007 florida lost at home to jevan snead and ole miss and still won the MNC while Texas sat at home for the *league* title game because of the TTU loss. we finally join that league and suddenly we get crushed in year one for having a weak schedule and crushed in year two for not winning by enough. weird how that works.

Texas has never been the media darling that OU and SEC is. Texas has always been the one you love to hate.

Is it not just the cumulative w/l record of the teams a particular school has played?

those 2 loss teams are not SEC or Big Ten.  Big Ten and SEC are ranked in order of losses.  which is also why OU is #8.  they sprinkle in Big 12 and/or ACC where necessary.

Had to dig pretty far back for that one. The team that beat us by 10 yards on a last gasp pass breakup (after we fumbled twice earlier in the game). Super easy to gameplan against, such a great point!

You mean aggie at #39 in rush defense that's had an issue with good rushers all year long?

And you think our rushing issues come from poor QB performances. Brilliant!

curious what the losses are for the other teams. we have the best wins in spades, but is florida truly the worst loss? and by wins, Notre Dame has zero wins worth a shit. Bama losing to Florida State is pretty fucking bad.

Alabama deserves to be in over us no doubt.

OU is questionable. They also had a tough SEC schedule. The difference between the two, other than we beat them H2H, is their blue blood OOC opponent happened to suck this year and ours ended up the undefeated #1 ranked team at the end. Not their fault, they scheduled up like we did in OOC, they just got the luck of the draw that we got last year by getting a Michigan that was a shell of it's Harbaugh era self.

To me that's the only question for the committee. Does our H2H win and harder OOC opponent mean more than their 1 fewer loss due to the easier OOC opponent.

Their best win is Bama. Michigan, and Misery should both be in the final CFP rankings. So they’re 3-2 against the CFP top 25. Unfortunately they’re in.

Vandy’s best win is Misery. 1-2 against the CFP final top 25. They shouldn’t be in and I haven’t seen a single projection that has them in.

I think we’re witnessing the limits of how many teams the SEC can in, and it’s probably 4. 6 teams in the league are 2-6 or worse in conference, that’s pushing the top 6 teams in the conference to 9-3 or better.

Florida waxed Florida State.  I think Bama has the worst loss, considering FSU is in the worst P4 conf by far this year  Florida also did play the #1 SOS though.

that said Bama only has 2 losses and only 1 in SEC.

I'm pretty sure the committee is going to move us up to 13 or 14, just like the polls, give themselves enough wiggle room for next week's games to play out in an attempt to kill any and all questions/controversy off quickly.   From their point of view moving us up to 11 or 12 would be unbelievably stupid going into the unknowns of the final week.

Tech has a terrible SOS. 59 by ESPN.. The Arizona State loss is a bad one. Big 12 will not get 2 in
