Oh, shit. This one hurts. RIP in the shortest shorts and Izod shirts, Bobby

Well I know what tonight's playlist is going to look like. My neighbors better enjoy it

Wow. Hes been really active right up to the end, a bit of a shock. RIP

My wife took this pic when she saw Dead and Co at the Sphere in April. He's gone and nothing's gonna bring him back

Tangent- a while ago my wife was looking for local info on flooding or something and stumbled onto a Reddit thread about the sky river music festival that was held here over Labor Day weekend in 1968. It was said that the Dead performed, but the poster on wiki doesn’t list them:

However it does say this:

The last day, members of the Grateful Deadjammed with James Cotton, Big Mama Thornton, and Billy Roberts.[6]

The Reddit thread starts with this pic allegedly of the event, with it looks like bob there closest to camera.

In the year of our lord 2026, sultan, wa has a population of around 7,000.

Damn it. I don’t I’ve ever felt this way with the passing of a musician.

Thanks for the soundtrack to so many of my best days and good memories.

I’m going to hole up and listen to some music at a high volume tonight.

I never really got The Days Between until I saw Bobby sing it on “Move Me Brightly” - a celebration of Jerry’s 70th birthday performed at Bobby’s TRI Studios and steamed live for free (which he was doing every Wednesday night back then). It was a fantastic lineup of musicians and went for a good 5-6 hrs.

Bobby was the first member of the band to get out on the road to keep the music alive after Jerry passed. I’m not sure if anyone else would’ve kept going if not for him, Phil was the last to come around. At this show, Phil showed up to play bass for one song then Mike Gordon of Phish took over for most of the show except for when David Schools of WSP sat in.

It was an amazing show. Dylan’s kid was there, Willie Nelson’s kid was there. Paul Simon’s kid was there. Donna was there (and sounded awesome). Lots of talented artists took part.

I thought this was one of the most poignant moments of the night.

I don’t ID as a Deadhead, but I love them, and in particular Bob’s entire vibe. IMO his grounding in traditional American music was the lynchpin of the whole damn thing.

Selfishly, I'm really sad I won't ever get the chance to take Doomlet to see Bob. I had hoped to share that with him by now, but it just wasn't the right time yet. Maybe we can still catch Mickey somehow...

As time marches on losing actors and musicians that have been so important to so many of us has become more and more frequent but, for me at least, I thought Bob would be with us for several more years. This was unexpected and really hurts. Grateful I saw him is SF just a few months ago.

So glad I got to see him twice last year, it was epic. RIP Bobby.

The only time I saw Bobby live was with Phish at Shoreline in 2000. He played El Paso and West L.A. Fadeaway with them. Then, the played Chalkdust, and Bobby definitely was having trouble keeping up, and he may have been blended into the mix a bit. But it was all good.

My favorite local band, who normally plays a lot of Dead, really kicked it up a notch tonight. Fitting tribute.
