At least as of 2019, dispensaries were legally required to be outside of the “gaming corridor.” There was an exception carved out for the industrial zone which is why Reef and P13 are within a mile of the Strip.

So options are:
1) the law changed since 2019 and no one has put a massive Disneyland-style dispensary on the strip yet
2) the places Gil saw are breaking the law
3) they are selling something that isn’t THC

3 is very close to correct...what they are selling has a very small amount of THC

So my first business trip since the pandemic started is going to be Vegas in mid July.  Going with a bunch of clients and staying at the Encore.  Any recs on restaurants I should take these folks to at that part of the strip or in the Wynn/Encore?  I went to Sinatra's in the Encore years ago and remember it being pretty good Italian food but not sure what is still open at this point.

Sorry for the delay, was in a wedding this weekend.

Okay, so you could check out the fairly new Cipriani in the Wynn. They have a private room option.

Also, one of the top seafood places is Milos and they moved from Cosmo to Venetian and they have 2 private rooms.

Otherwise, all the standard options that are open at Wynn/Encore I’m sure are still solid. I’m headed back out soon to get an update on the ground.

Connected through on the way out to Palm Springs this past weekend and my LORD was McCaren a shit show. Just assholes to elbows with mouth breathers… what I imagine Circus Circus on a fight night resembles.

The old man had a convention this past week and noted that it was “the worst Vegas crowd he’d see in 50 years.”

Stay safe out there boys… seems like it’s 1 step removed from a zombie apocalypse!

Yep. Just need the conference and convention folks back in full force and room rates up higher and hopefully that will fix the glitch.

New Bobby Flay joint in Caesars (lots of pics in link below):

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay opened his new Italian seafood restaurant at Caesars Palace in May, inspired by his trips to the Amalfi Coast. The restaurant, Amalfi by Bobby Flay, took over his 16-year-old Mesa Grill, spanning 9,000 square feet right off the casino floor.

The menu spans whole fresh fish and pastas to lighter antipasti. A fishmonger showcases his catches of the day in a dramatic seafood display near the open kitchen. The fishmonger, who is available to answer any questions, can share where the fish is from, when it arrived in Las Vegas, and other detailed requests. Diners can typically find golden snapper, red snapper, black bass, branzino, and Carabinero shrimp, which can be grilled over charcoal or roasted al forno and served with the choices of Meyer lemon and capers, red pepper and Calabrian chile pesto, or salsa verde.

Flay tapped Olivia Jane Design & Interiors to create the look of Amalfi with a natural palette and touches of greenery throughout. Organic fabrics, stone, and wood materials decorate the four spaces inside.

A 30-seat bar and 40-seat lounge area practically glow with a limestone mosaic floor and teak wood beams. Flay says he loves the golden glow in the bar and lounge. “Don’t miss the Amalfi Coast-inspired blue and white chairs in the lounge, which are a nod to the swarms of striped umbrellas and chairs sprawled across the beaches there,” he says.

The grille/main dining room features limestone walls and antique brass with views of the kitchen. Wines from various regions throughout the Amalfi Coast also find a home here.

The restaurant also features a private dining room.

Flay recommends ordering the charred octopus with burnt orange and pancetta as an appetizer, followed by squid ink fettuccine with lobster, shrimp, and fra diavolo sauce.

How is Resort World?

Man. I am partial to Miami because you can offer 25k but if your group looks like shit you get nothing.  Vegas is the opposite. Resorts world is so fucking trashy.  It’s like I’m back in Oklahoma.

Damn man that sucks. I was looking forward to an epic trip report.

Oh we still had a hell of a time but man the crowds were so damn sloppy.  I’m old but the talent level in vegas way back (around when Wynn opened) was another level.  Also almost everywhere had service issues because of being short staffed.  Vegas is still a blast but it just didn’t feel up to where it’s been on the best trips.

Caesar’s is fucking crawling with kids. Fuck all of you trashy ass motherfuckers….mostly Asians (no racist) who bring your snotty little shits everywhere you go.

I think there was a convention there that was teen dance clubs which is why so many kids.  I love Vegas but am avoiding it till things get to a reasonable level.  It sounds miserable right now.

Just did 3 nights at TI. It was very understaffed. They were not doing mobile check-in and only had two employees working at check in. Process took about one hour and fifteen minutes. Throughout the place, lots of stuff closed,  not many tables open.

Bounced around multiple casinos. Venetian was only one with dividers still up at tables. Most of the bigger places, the minimum bet was $15 with very few tables. Lots of $25 options.

Managed to get a reservation at Bacchanal buffett. Wife kept checking open table while we were chilling at pool and something opened up. It felt like getting in a club. All the stand by/wait list people lingering and an employee dropping the rope divider for reservations.

Did the Neon Museum. I enjoyed it a lot. Tour was 45 minutes and heard some cool info.

Also did the helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon and it was awesome.

Disappointing to hear about the understaffing and places still closed. i'm rethinking my August trip. I might reschedule for 2022.

Same I have a trip the last weekend of July and half my group has cancelled.  I think I might just go to New Orleans instead.

I was in Vegas the week before last, and really didn't run into any issues. Crowd was markedly improved over my April trip. Obviously there are pockets of troubles and there are things that can come up, but it also isn't impossible to dodge. We ate at:

Mon Ami Gabi
Saginaw's Deli (Circa)
Bacchanal Buffet
Secret Pizza
Caesar's Food Court

and never had a wait or service issue. Only had reservation at Mon Ami, and made that the day before with several slots open. Gambled at Venetian, Palazzo, Caesar's, Cosmo, The D, Circa, Aria, no issues with seating or beverage service. Was there Mon eve-Fri morn so can't speak to weekends.

Wrapping up my first trip since Sept 2019. From everything we already know, I’d say things are definitely improving but not quite back to where we want it with regards to the typical Vegas clientele.

Stayed at Palazzo with Prestige lounge access so didn’t have any check-in type issues. Made dinner reservations well in advance so no issues there on staffing. Witnessed one moron berating and threatening a lowly Dunkin employee at the Linq because his grilled cheese took too long to make. Security was called and he was escorted off the property. More zombies along the Strip sidewalks then I remembered in the past, but they are generally harmless. Witnessed some dumb fight over a chair at the pool. Again security was called and one guy told to leave.

Resorts World is a fun place to check out. Grabbed some Dim Sum in the food court. Interesting order process with electronic boards all over to order and pay for any of the food court spots, then you get a text when your order is ready for pickup. Hit up the secret bar in that area, recommend it for folks who like the craft cocktails and some old school hip hop. They have a nice huge bar area with live bands which looks to be really fun. Poker room is nice. Sports book is small. Will try to stay here in the future to get a better feel for pools and night club.

Amalfi, the new Bobby Flay place at Caesars, was fantastic. Bobby was in the kitchen area working away. Decent list of fresh fish flown in to choose from along with multiple toppings and can go whole fish or filet. Nice pasta course choices, desserts, cocktails etc and bar area has a good vibe to it. Can do many dishes off of each part of the menu and share. We get a lot of questions on this thread about business dinner options, and the manager told me they have a great space for that which goes up to something like 40-45 people. Add this one to your list of places to try.

I started to write a reply about how I would be surprised if the casinos are understaffed by much because the work is mainly unionized. I figured they earned fairly well especially in that I see the same dealers at the same places over the years. but from a few google searches, i was surprised to see that they may earn as little as 25k or so. I know they get other perks and benefits but I was surprised about that low amount. Maybe they have a good retirement plan.

And on the mask update, the first time I wore one was just now upon return inside LAS airport. Some decent percentage of folks do walk around inside and outside with them on, but wasn’t a requirement anywhere we went for fully vaccinated people. Fun side fact, if you look at a Venetian employee name tag, employees who have been vaccinated have a V next to their names.

That's why you always tip the dealers and waitstaff.

Today’s update: so many freaking private jets are flying in for the Garth Brooks concert and the UFC fight weekend, that the damn ATC implemented holds and spacing into LAS and caused a one hour delay of my flight out today because my incoming plane was stuck on the ground in Phoenix. Vegas is almost back?

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- A Las Vegas area strip club will now accept cryptocurrency.

Crazy Horse 3 said it is the first major entertainment venue in Las Vegas to accept bitcoin payments using the Lightning Network. The new bitcoin payment processor would allow guests to purchase VIP bottle packages via the Crazy Horse 3 website.

“Crazy Horse 3 is committed to innovating the modern-day guest experience and as leaders of the Las Vegas entertainment industry, we are embracing the opportunity to accept Bitcoin as a way to deliver convenience, first-class hospitality and an added level of anonymity for our guests,” said Crazy Horse 3 publicist Lindsay Feldman.

In the near future, the club plans to be able to accept cryptocurrency for food and beverage, retail, admission and of course, "dance dollars" for lap dances and entertainer tipping.

I just got back from a 4 day bachelor party, I thought the crowd was pretty a pretty normal Vegas crowd, but we had a big crowd and only left the Cosmo property for golf (1.5X), UFC fights, and dinner at Lavo Sun night.  We went to Marquee 4 times in 3 days and the crowd was great there.

Should have been more normal as the average room rates were much higher than they have been recently for the big fight/concert weekend. Hopefully the trend continues in this direction for the crowds.

Yeah that's a good point.  Those were the highest I ever paid for rooms at Cosmo before.
