They are designed to do one thing, help trump get re-elected. Its their job, its what they do.

This is kind of meta, but when someone emptyquotes someone else, are we supposed to not discuss the content of it? Are we not supposed to ask the person who quoted it about the thing they quoted?

But on topic, let's think about why Reade getting brought in for misdemeanor check fraud would be relevant...

- Maybe she was broke and tried to extort Biden for money by telling him that she was telling people he raped her (and that's why 4 people (so far) have given contemporaneous testimony about her telling them in the early 90s)?

- Maybe she was going through some sort of mental breakdown in the early 90s, lying to her mom and neighbor and others about being sexually assaulted and writing bad checks? So she's bringing it up now after decades of keeping it down-low for... reasons?

It seems to me that if either of those was the case we'd have one of these many people who worked for Biden who say they remember her to mention that she was a nutcase, right? Seems reasonable to me.

Because if it's just a matter of, "She was accused of bad stuff before so we cannot trust anything she ever says again ever" then we have eliminated the idea of trust entirely because everyone has done bad stuff. Killed people. Murdered people. Steals from you. Steals from me.

And if thinking about this stuff bothers you or you're tired of reading it, feel free to put me on ignore or call the bobs to ban me or whatever. If you can't help but make it personal all the time this isn't good for your emotional health and you should take a break from reading my posts and talking to me. Trust me, I don't consider your participation and interaction a favor or boon. Take care of yourself first. :)

That’s a lot of words.

I realize your goal here is to disparage Biden as much as you possibly can to help trump win in 2020.

Unlike you, the board here doesn’t want trump to steal the election again. I realize that is not what you want.

Or why don’t you just tell us. What do you Want?

My inability to stay in a scene aside, I'll be interested to hear takeaways from the interview. It's a lot of stuff, but I found it compelling and I'm not really sure how these conspiracy theories survive seeing a normal human responding normally. Grand, elaborate conspiracies built on dehumanizing an individual tend to weaken when the target is humanized.

My take from her interviews is she is an ugly lying sack of shit whose story is both totally implausible and would be laughed out of court. What’s your take?

1) I want Joe Biden to withdraw and the corrupt powers that be to pick literally any of the other candidates from the final 7-8. Preferably Warren.

(I know this won't happen, but you asked what I want.)

2) I would like for Biden's supporters and whatever-you-call-people-like-the-posters-here to leave Reade alone and let her story just die and let her lose like basically all women do. Even if we all left her alone

(Biden himself is smarter than his supporters/whatever-you-call-people-like-the-posters-here, because this is his strategy. Deny deny deny is ALWAYS the answer. Don't get involved. Don't expose yourself by overextending into criticism or character assassination. Just deny deny deny and win. If I were intellectually dishonest I'd say something about how toxic online supporters stems from the top of a campaign, but that was bullshit during the primary and it's bullshit now.

Again, I know this won't happen, but you asked.)

3) If Joe won't withdraw, then I hope he appoints a good VP and then wins and doesn't run again in 2024.

There are a lot of other things I want. A pony, for instance.

I truly think a segment of the Bernie supporters (mostly people who are some combination of male/white/straight/middle to upper class/stable employment) secretly think if Trump wins again that that will be the tipping point that brings the rest of us along to their revolution.

And they’re okay with four more years because those mostly people who are some combination of male/white/straight/middle to upper class/stable employment people can “hide” and code switch for survival if things get as horrible as predicted during another Trump term.

They’re last on the list for danger. Women and gays and browns and blacks and Muslims and poor folks and immigrants and others can’t hide.

It’s just another strategy for them.

“Yeah, things are bad for these people I claim to care about but they just refuse to see the light! If Biden wins, those people won’t feel the urgency and the revolution will lose momentum and they’ll never be convinced. But another four years of Trump and they’ll be forced to get onboard!”.

It’s selfish because the danger to “those people” is fucking real but that certain segment of the Bernie folks know it’s not coming for them.

Biden winning blunts their influence. They think another four years of Trump will make them more influential.

And it might. But the collateral damage will be too great.

The danger is real for women and gays and browns and blacks and Muslims and poor folks and immigrants and others. The danger is theoretical for the male/white/straight/middle to upper class/stable employment people.

This is definitely an astute observation of white suburban/upper class politics.

There is a lot of play-acting in politics that's disconnected from the lived realities and needs of more disadvantaged people. With certain portions of the left (the portion most visible to the social media obsessed), there is absolutely the accelerationist attitude that Bama described and attendant rationalizations regarding the further damage a Trump presidency would do. I think the practical gap between Biden and Trump is narrower than many here, but the gap is real and meaningful such that every good person should want Biden over Trump if that's the choice we're forced to make in the end.

This doesn't actually describe me, but I understand how it feels good to pretend it does, so party on. :)

I think y'all should keep him occupied on this thread. I'm uninterested in his arguments and his motivations. If he's going to blanket this board with his idiocy, at least try to isolate him to problem threads.

I'm done thinking about Tara Reade. She's probably lying about the assault, but even if she's not Biden will get my vote. Fuck all the nihilists, Trumpkins and pathetically short-sighted socialists who don't see the simple problems with her story, and that Biden is miles ahead as the lesser evil in any rational breakdown of the two.

Do I believe Biden when he says he didn’t assault her? That’s a serious accusation so it’s hard to believe without more proof, or a persistent behavior. Take bill Cosby, I don’t know if all of the stories against him really happened as reported, but it was hard to refute dozens of women coming forward. One 27 year old assault story should be listened to, but that doesn’t biden guilty.

theres no doubt that Biden is a touchy feely  person who hopefully has learned that isn’t ok. Has he made people uncomfortable over the years?  I would bet money on that.  Should he step down as the dem nominee over that? Personally I don’t think it rises to that level based on what I’ve heard. And I admit that I haven’t followed this narrative closely.

however if he drops out, I believe the entire dem nomination process should start over. As in everyone has zero delegates. Democrats were adamant they don’t want Bernie so he can’t be the nominee.

I found the interview believable. At a minimum she has a reasonable answer for some of the concerns people have stated.

Edited - I had never heard of the Lucy Flores assault previously. I guess it’s not just the hair smelling and inappropriate touching. Does that seem to indicate a pattern?

Yes.

Are we monsters? Sure, an argument could be made that we are. I think a lot of people aren't comfortable sitting in the shit pile so they tell themselves it's not shit they're sitting in.

But it's exactly what they're sitting in.

This was also the case in Clinton 1992. He had multiple credible accusers who were ripped apart for their class, their motives, their personal histories, and their looks, and if you were left of center and believed Broaddrick (et al) and expressed belief you were called a Reaganite and that you wanted Bush re-elected. History just repeats.

While I respect people who will not vote for a person they believe is guilty of terrible personal acts, I'm not one of them. I thought in 1992 that the rapist Clinton was a better choice than HW and I would repeat that vote. I believe Joe is a rapist and I will vote for him in November if he says he won't veto M4A, because as disgusting as it feels to "support" someone who does that, the possibility of every single American being guaranteed healthcare is more important than punishing Biden for what he did to Reade.

We don't have to. We could get Joe out and put someone else in to run against Donald. If the Democratic voter base rose up united and said it was unacceptable we could make it happen, but we're not going to. Those who are calling for that much preferable outcome are being screamed at as Trump supporters by other people who don't even like Joe Biden.

It's a clusterfuck.

When y’all realize that everything that b-t says is a proxy for “any person but Bernie is and will forever be my enemy,” you can save yourself a lot of time.

We get it. There is only one perfect, pure human being who is ever walked the earth, and we’re all just ignorant fools for not recognizing Bernie for the man-god that he is, and anyone else the people might choose is a reflection of our inner evil and stupidity, and we deserve nothing but scorn and contempt. Oh, and if we failed to see the One True Light of Humanity that is Bernie, we serve whatever we get, including Trump. We get it. B-t is just gilding the lily at this point.

You might have not been paying attention much, Brisket, and I can't blame you because it's a nightmare, but Bernie lost like 2 months ago.

He's gone and he's not coming back. It's OK. I know it's going to be difficult, but you're going to need to write a new script and come up with some new bits.

Much has been made about Tara Reade’s claim. One of the details her detractors point out is that at the time she alleges Joe Biden fingered her the dress code for women required panty hose.

And now crotchless underwear has entered the chat.

What if Democrats were at 70+% demanding Joe to withdraw in polls and there were Democratic leaders calling for it, as well? They would show up for Joe's replacement if they were "united" in the effort.

You asked what i would like to happen, and I would like a united Democratic effort to replace Joe with any of the other candidates. Bernie or Liz, preferably. The rest of the Blah Brigade pretty far behind them. I would love that thing that has a 0.000001% of happening, and I only brought it up because I was asked to.

Does that mean I would love them and be completely uncritical? No. I'm never going to be uncritical of powerful people.

But, as far as I know, none of those people have been credibly accused of raping a woman. And Biden was at the distant, distant bottom of the list even before Tara Reade came forward. He is dogshit garbage.

Trump is worse, of course (for those of you with goldfish-level attention spans who need hourly reminders), but Joe is dogshit.

I'm not advocating for Bernie. It's over. I don't say that because I'm scared of sharing my thoughts or want to make you like me by hiding it. I genuinely do not give a shit about Bernie's candidacy in any meaningful way because it's been over forever.

Let me ask you this, shit-starting dishonest troll: If Joe Biden were to drop out right now and you could choose his replacement, who would it be?

Hurry, answer so I can then say, "OH SO EVERYTHING YOU THINK IS BECAUSE YOU'RE OBSESSED WITH <CANDIDATE X>" like a grown man trying to start fights on the Internet.
