  1. Past hour
  2. IT'S NOT A GIVEN HE PERFORMS BETTER THAN QE EITHER. The insanity persists... it's not a given AM fails. BUT for you and a few others, AM's ride to immortal glory last year was a given.
  3. So he tags Bedenbaugh and Nagy in his commitment tweet, but not Venables. Is this kid a Nagy 5*?
  4. Sure if Arch goes out and throws for 3tds and 0 ints and 300 yards against Ohio St, it will make that decision look worse. If he has some growing pains, it will look better. I just don't buy into the theories of being loyal to quinn or worrying about his draft stock etc etc. No way did Sark every think "i know that Arch gives the rest of my 84 guys a better chance to win a title but I'm going with Quinn"
  5. Not sure where to link this article, so I'm linking it here. Oh, and also on SEC Rant, because that's fun. The title alone is geared to infuriate people. Is Texas college football’s new Alabama? - The Athletic
  6. Golden was a senior, of course. Livingston is a freshman (rs) starting at WR. The exact opposite of a JAG. After Worthy, when’s the last time we had that?
  7. Why did I wade back into this thread? the Derka / SC spat isn't even the most annoying part.
  8. Shower rings all around. Will definitely watch this.
  9. That statement is the same as the "I have a black friend!" statement of a klansmen being tried for lynching.
  10. It's not a given Arch loses to AZ state, and it's not a given it's a disaster if he does. Those are hypothetical outcomes, as is that Arch comes in and we beat Az State, Ohio State and win it all. The only thing that is a certainty is that Quinn wasn't capable of performing well enough against elite defenses when the offensive line got pantsed. When you get to the point of win or go home, you pull out all the stops, and if you don't and wind up going home, you deserve your criticism for not doing everything you possibly could in an effort to win it all at the moment you had the opportunity. There are no guarantees Texas will be in a semifinal again this year. Or next. Or the year after that.
  11. But at some point it's not necessarily about getting a starting NFL tackle. I know that's the aspiration at Texas, and it should be. But if you don't have enough bodies in the pipeline, if you're going to compete for national championships you better get them somehow. It's still a very legitimate point, and I'm not trying to argue it. It's also the easiest thing in the world to spend someone else's money. I have no agency in any of this. To me it makes sense to wait for chaos and then take advantage of opportunities if they present themselves.
  12. Horseshit. Speak for yourself. Your reaction to the other poster was also horseshit, you assumed a lot you shouldn't have, and you're smart enough to know better. Own it and move on.
  13. Never wear ankle socks with long pants - too annoying.
  14. That's kind of the point. I know I know nothing. I have some vague safety awareness but I'm happy to get proper training. I would much prefer to not be a net negative.
  15. Most of the podcasts I listen to lean towards Romero and hope being captain leads him to wanting to sign long term. Maybe Davies as more of a club ambassador/Captain, but he's just not going to be on the field enough to have the armband. Now with Madders being hurt, the other potential name they talked about was Vicario, but way behind Romero. Romero is tied with... Bryan Gil (July 2021). Gil for Captain? 😅
  16. Chip Brown. Kirk Bohls. Geoff Ketchum. There are a couple of others with the same schtick. Heck, Bobby Burton when he founded National Recruiting Advisor always seemed to discount Texas affiliated players a bit to keep from seeming biased. Not to lump Burton with any of them, because he's always had an air of professionalism even before he tied himself to covering UT exclusively, and has kept it that way. I don't think there's another program in the country with more villain status people covering the program as their main gig. There are plenty of haters around the country. We're a polarizing program. But to have these talking heads represent us in talk formats everywhere as "Longhorn homers" when they giddily love planting blades between our shoulders simply as a point of emphasis to show they're capable of it is infuriating. I remember when the thin skinned Mack Brown was trying to control the narrative around his program early on, he tried to shut out media representatives from having access in different ways. Not overtly, but in subtle ways. He did a full on press with Chip Brown when CB was at the Dallas Morning News trying to ingratiate him so he'd only print a Longhorn slant on everything he wrote. There was a complete misjudging of character.
  17. Why U no buy crypto?
  18. you wildly exaggerate how often this happens. i spend 99% of my time on surly on boards that you don't even read. also, i brought more than just receipts on my QE takes, i brought receipts on the actual personal shit talk that came with it. listen to how much you whine about me bringing that up. now multiply it by 1,000, and you have me experience posting on this thread. you think it’s annoying for one guy to mention “hey you guys talk crazy shit about me for no reason” once every few blue moons? try having the hive mind follow you around religiously attacking you for your football opinions. see how annoying that is. also, seriously- you have made a gigantic mountain of this molehill. it’s wild that you think you have some sort of moral high ground here. we wouldn’t even still be talking about me if you weren’t dedicating thousands of keystrokes to me and my posts. you act like you hate this but you’re actively giving it life.
  19. True. However, if Arch leads Texas to a title this year, or if he's even demonstratively better than Quinn was at guiding the offense, I'm not sure the 2024 QB decision once Quinn returned from injury was much of a Sophie's choice. Instead, we'll be adamant that Sark made a mistake.
  20. How much did we drive up the price?
  21. there are 2 truths about the OL. The portal has very few quality bodies. Trying to get a legit dancing bear at LT from HS is an absolute bloodbath of a recruitment. There is a reason Tackle is the highest paid position in the NFL. They just are not a lot of them around. According to Spotrac.com, the average salaries for various position groups in the NFL for the 2024 season are as follows: Long Snapper: $1,069,016 Fullback: $1,724,440 Punter: $1,520,940 Running Back: $1,789,687 Cornerback: $1,999,348 Wide Receiver: $2,277,703 Tight End: $2,055,238 Safety: $2,196,749 Kicker: $2,228,472 Defensive Tackle: $2,496,660 Center: $2,394,058 Defensive End: $2,996,247 Guard: $2,500,421 Edge Rusher: $3,234,289 Outside Linebacker: $3,703,880 Inside Linebacker: $3,856,602 Quarterback: $4,855,892 Right Tackle: $5,128,198 Left Tackle: $8,952,680
  22. I believe everything a coach says in a media availability literally. There's never any agendas involved. If he mentions him several times, then we see him on Saturdays being productive, then I'll believe it. Until then I'm going to assume he's giving a call out to be encouraging and to help keep Butler's buy in for the season. I will say there are players he mentions on multiple occasions and I do pay attention to that. For example, he keeps bringing up Ty'Anthony Smith. I don't think Smith is going to get starter snaps, but I do think he could play a bigger role this season than we generally think, and I think that primarily because Sarkisian keeps making a point to bring him up.
  23. There's plenty that would probably do it for a pizza and a sixer of Natty Light.
