  1. Past hour
  2. Good post. And I definitely agree that we are in an era of "my authoritarianism is better than your authoritarianism" rather than "the neutral Rule of Law and protecting human freedoms are better than authoritarianism." For a dwindling number of us, we don't see goose-stepping authoritarians in snappy Hugo Boss uniforms as an improvement over (real or imagined) goose-stepping authoritarians with red stars on their hats. For those of us "On Liberty" types, this is NOT our era.
  3. Thank you for saying what I said but in a different manner and more words
  4. The larger point is that we told him to hit the road because of a shit ton of off the field BS . . . we didn't lose him to Syracuse like KittyBaby said
  5. Are we supposed to turn toward Mar-A-Lago and do it several times a day?
  6. Stroh 89 snaps Neto: 22 snaps Kibble- 10 snaps (72.6 grade, 73.7 pass/72.1 run) Neto is getting 11 snaps a game, so that is not a lot of snaps. He may look bad with a 40+ a game. Kibble only has 10. It is not up to me, but I would be giving more snaps to Neto and Kibble the next 2 games. I do not know who the best option is currently. All I know is Stroh has struggled mightily and having an open competition here vs the next 2 tomato cans seems reasonable. At worst you are setting a culture of accountability
  7. DT thread covering it. News vs. Politics. I don't want Imma to get on me again for fucking that golden rule up.
  8. I cant possibly say "WHO GIVES A SHIT" enough times to this.
  9. What kind of NW are we looking at to be insured by them? Will my Beanie Baby and Dale Earnhardt commemorative plate collections be taken into consideration?
  10. I just think they would have done it that day regardless of what happened in Jerusalem. They were clearly intending to hit that specific meeting. Qatar maybe just allowed it, who knows. We for sure knew ahead of time. Yeah I read what he said, I'm just not sure it's the truth. The attack provided probably more cover for the op than they were expecting, but I would bet my money on it being planned and executed regardless.
  11. That's a significant portion of Tech fans, as well. Hotel rooms on game weekends are a beating too, especially this late in the process.
  12. BBC. Netanyahu says attack was in response to 7 October and Jerusalem shootingpublished at 10:20 10:20 A joint statement from Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defence Minister Israel Katz says that in the wake of attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza, the Israeli prime minister ordered his security agencies to prepare to target the Hamas leadership. It says that this afternoon presented an operational opportunity and, with the full backing of Israel's defence leaders, the pair jointly decided to green-light the attack. It adds that the IDF and Shin Bet were informed of the plans for the attack last night. The statement continues that Netanyahu and Katz believe the attack was justified due to the Hamas leadership being behind the 7 October 2023 attack and the shooting in Jerusalem yesterday. Earlier today, Hamas claimed responsibility for the shooting, which killed six Israelis and left several other wounded.
  13. Calvinball Kavanaugh's concurrence from yesterday's ICE detention decision: ethnicity is a factor that can by used in deportation investigations. Calvinball Kavanaugh wen it comes to college admissions: admissions process must be "colorblind."
  14. Hope he does, but in a much larger sample size he caught about 15 passes in two years.
  15. I’d argue that the current of thought among the right-wing is idealistic and utopian. It’s a question of who the intended utopia is for; but these ideas are meant to usher in a bright future of plenty and peace for the “right” people. There’s no iron law that says dissatisfied youth will glom onto a progressive cause; much of the tumult in the Muslim world in past decades was young students reacting against the perceived defects of secular and liberalizing governments in favor of a retrograde Islam promising perfect truth and justice to the faithful. There’s been decades in the West where liberal democratic values and ideals of equality, tolerance, and individual rights have been on the march. Young people who feel like the system isn’t delivering are reacting to dismantle those structures. What’s really new is that today’s far-right views the “ground rules” of society as illegitimate in the same vein you’ve ordinarily heard from the far left. The proposed replacement they come up with is of course radically different. There are fewer and fewer people who see things like free speech and freedom of conscience as inherently good and needed.
  16. They do some good legal work representing people who need it, but their public issue advocacy is just right wing propaganda dressed up to look like an actual ideological commitment to free speech.
  17. This strike was planned, sure. But was it the catalyst? Also, IAF had to fly real close to some US bases no matter what route they took and we should have had AWACs up. Plus our Navy. Was this quietly allowed by the Arab states? Qatar has a pretty modern air force. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar_Emiri_Air_Force
  18. It's really no big deal, just peaceful tourists visiting the capital
  19. I noticed this too when scrolling through their database. They also treat equally a single student complaint that led to no action with a student complaint that led to a professor's dismissal. That's like saying a random tweet is as harmful as legislation passed and enforced.
  20. Tbh I'd rather us play a morning kickoff game in Provo than a night game
  21. Cook was Syracuse's leading receiver against Tennessee. The young man might just be turning his life around and live up to his potential.
  22. I'll take your word for it as I have no knowledge of it. I certainly wouldn't find it surprising. And I'm just trying to address the main idea in general, of increased intolerance among younger people. I do so, because I find it an interesting proposal and I'm just trying to work through the hypothesis and see what evidence I can find to support or refute it. In general I think younger people have been far more open to different lifestyles than my generation was at the same point in life. That's sort of a baseline, a rising tide lifts all boats type observation. But at the same time, I can see narrow bands of idealistic intransigence, focused beliefs that can vary widely from group to group. I think the internet and social media have allowed people with narrow like-minded views, to find one another, and reinforce one another. This is true of all age groups but seems especially focused in the younger generation because at the same time, their baseline society has moved away from the 4 TV channels or even the 43 TV channels that cable brought to us as young people, and moved into the world of highly diverse streaming content providers, youtube, tiktok, insta, and all of the other places younger generations consume their media, which has fractured what used to be a more monolithic set of cultural norms. Yeah this for sure.
  23. Topic for another thread. Israel is trying to start ww3 right now.
  24. The vast majority of these drone and VTOL companies are years away from significant revenue, but they need cash. Whenever their prices spike upwards massively for no real reason, they will dilute to raise money that they will need in the future. Check out the last 6 months (for example they sold another 40M shares in Aug). From their last annual report dated March 11, 25 From their filing this morning And they are authorized to sell 120M more shares, and they will. Its been publicly traded for 10 years with negligible revenue, its how they survive.
  25. FIRE literally counts them and has to overcategorize (i.e. equate students protesting with actually cancelling a speaker's appearance) because there are so few.
