  2. I changed it to that on original edit and then undid. Still working on first cup of coffee. Can't edit.
  3. John Turntine's dad was on OTF this morning and said his son weighed in at 272 last night.
  4. The fact they are objectively the 4th/5th best athletic department in their own conference, while spending THAT much money will never ever not be funny to me.
  5. I think it does, but probably not to the degree most people might think. DT is the subject here though.
  6. *Phelps'
  7. The reason Christianity and Islam are so widely practiced in so many different parts of the world is that they were certain enough that they were right that they went to war, conquered others, and forced it on the locals. Kind of hard to preach this line of thinking considering this history.
  8. They are the eternal bug on the windshield of college football.
  9. Some one needs to point out we have Phelps old coach.
  10. Well, when they lose Max and Yuki, plus the existing brain drain over the last few years, plus all the unknowns going into the new regs, there is a very real chance they are a backmarker unless they can get someone like George. Even if Lindblad is basically Kimi 2.0 it's tough to be that young. Jonathan Wheatley would have been my first call. Dude is going to get a salary bump no matter what. Also, if I'm Cadillac I'm absolutely calling him to at least see if you can get him on board to hopefully consult on getting things set up. Where do they even go from here if they lose Max?
  11. my dungeons and dragons alignment is True Neutral, dead center, so let me try to mediate this shitstorm with a proposal: 1. the forum titles of Daily Texan and Cloak Room and the ostensible purpose of each forum, as named and so defined 19 years ago (!) no longer accurately represent the content posted therein 2. rename them, left/right, red/blue, maybe run a mod thread stickied to the top of each forum asking for nominations of the new name for that forum, then run a poll 3. those on the left upset that DT allows alternative facts news will drop their crusade and accept the double standard - the 'right' gets their forum, the 'left' gets theirs, and there is no longer any attempt to bifurcate "news" and "politics"
  12. Donald Barr, the author and father of former AG Bill Barr, helped Epstein get his start: http://www.npr.org/2019/07/19/742725946/a-young-jeffrey-epstein-made-an-impression-on-his-high-school-students
  13. That assumes the Supreme Court doesn't rule all future elections illegal before then.

  16. Faith cannot exist in a space occupied by certainty. β€œCertainty” is fatal to faith and dangerously corrosive to grace. If one is certain of their own reading of scripture and certain of their full compliance with scripture, where is the need for Christ’s righteousness and God’s grace? And if one does not feel themselves absolutely dependent on God’s grace, they are very unlikely to extend any grace towards others. IMO, there is no aspect of life where the Dunning-Kruger effect is more dangerous than religion. A little study and minimal understanding of small snippets of scripture can result in a strong sense of certainty. Vast swaths of the evangelical Church are stuck at this novice level with no desire to advance past it because it becomes uncomfortable and threatens existing power structures and organizations. They can’t let go of that anchor of certainty and allow themselves to have faith in the Spirit to lead them to new places and new ways of loving others.
  17. Been there before! 100 percent cut and vac seal ahead of time, will make the whole thing way easier. Last time I did something like this I just smoked a choice brisket and chopped it all. Smoke, rest, chop, chill overnight, vac seal, freeze, defrost, reheat is easy. Someone above said to include a little tallow in the lean, which is a great idea.
  18. I'd do this basically. I reheat by boiling water, turning it off, letting it drop a few degrees and them submerging. No need to defrost. And if it needs to be portioned out, slicing after it has refrigerated has minimal impact on final quality imo. Maybe put some tallow in with the lean.
  19. This is exactly why I disagree with imma's assertion that he doesn't "control the message, [he] doesn't shape the threads". He absofuckinglutely does. He rolled out the red carpet for Pronghorn to blast racist disinformation and known foreign agitprop as a news source, and then the mods swung their dicks around on anyone who points that out. Because "nobody cares if it's lies, it's not against the rules to be an idiot". Yeah, TOTALLY not shaping the narrative or controlling the message to say that they are above reproach and their dogshit and frequently recanted sourcing smells like shit. It's very literally creating a safe space for disinformation and those who want to disseminate it. And look, I understand that it would just be easier if we like all got along man. But that requires a common set of facts and a single reality. And the way DT is ran, you can simply cry "CR!!!" to paper over any factual vacancies you might have pointed out to you.
  20. And cost of boats and houses? 1997 first house, central Austin, $71,500. Axis 24 cost us $97,000 in 2018.
  21. Or, they could choose to see it as a gift. Hopefully they all can, in their own time.
  22. You’re not wrong but it’s one good thing about teenagers. My 17 year old son is too busy for a job and so you can call it a glorified allowance but I put him on payroll and told him school, band and work, work can come third but you have plenty of time to meet all three mandatory responsibilities. He cleans our boat, makes sure it’s covered, wiped down, he’s got 2 cars and he handles all our difficult recycling too (foam, textiles, goodwill, plastic wrapping, non single stream recyclables, hazmat, electronics, batteries, etc). So on topic, our boat (and cars) always look great.
  23. Never a bad time for this
  24. Name a school that wouldn't love to drop a dime on Texas if we were being shady and breaking rules.
