Obviously Spears is in the conversation for NFOY. Is Stafford in contention for NPOY? Certainly 1st team AA if she keeps this up.

Ash didn't need defenders. He was very good when healthy. He needed to not get concussions.

Charlie Kirk assassinated at an event in Utah (by a 22 YO groyper)

Was it The Ritz that NiN played in Austin at some point in the 90's? A buddy went and said it was just about the best show he ever saw.

This thread is Exhibit A that the Cloak Roomers (on both sides) are completely incapable of distinguishing between the 2 forums. I'll never understand why they want to have the same political debates on the same topic in 2 different forums but pretty clear at this point posters that want updates on actual "news" go somewhere else which is a shame.

Chuckie Finster replied to msbesq's topic in Cloak Room
I'm gonna be honest - I think most people admired Kirk's ability to say the mean things they already felt while intertwining it with some stuff about Jesus that they could hide behind if needed. There are millions of people who fervently defend their Christian beliefs yet this guy is the one they idolized. What makes him different is all that other stuff that we aren't allowed to talk about since he died. -
I've followed Nepal, and certainly social media has been credited with connecting young people during the Arab Spring and in the periodic protests in Iran. Kind of like any tool, it's what you make of it. That said, I'm taken with Scott Galloway's criticism ("tobacco of our generation") and agree with Jonathan Haidt that it's super harmful for kids, in particular. It's hard to deny that the world online increasingly doesn't resemble the real world, and that's problematic when so much time is spent there.

Thought I would share this. Good for David Ash. Many of y’all were very big defenders of Ash back in the day. He normally doesn’t post much. Good for him for speaking up.
-
Yep, that's what I've drawn as a conclusion as well.

They disagree in the same way they disagreed with the outcome of the 2020 election. It's all bullshit and vibes and "many people are saying". There's no actual critique there aside from culture warring, it isn't backed by facts. The most glowing thing I hear about Kirk is the LIE that he believed in and preached peaceful speech. His words and rhetoric were in the mouth of the El Paso shooter. His words and rhetoric were in the mouths of Jan6 rioters. He was a cultural arsonist, and he's being mourned by people who like the smell of a campfire -

I doubt major corporations take individual complaints seriously, but a sending a few letters to advertisers pointing out that their products are no longer on one's shopping list can't hurt. If the numbers get big enough (which they won't) . . .

The owner of a Tesla can literally pull up the car's exact location on their phone at any time. Even if he had lent the car out, he would still be able to do that. You also get all sorts of notifications on the car's status.

Plenty of Patton Oswalt tickets still available for Paramount tomorrow night. If you've never seen him, he's awesome.

No doubt, 100% there are a lot of people that admire Charlie Kirk for his racism and J6 insanity. But I think, at least from what I've witnessed, is that most people actually admired Charlie Kirk for his evangilism and fervent defense of his (and by extension, their) beliefs and religion. They see him as a lion for their faith in an unchurched, biblically hostile world (even in the big tent of Christianity, where there are faiths and churches who are more "progressive" in views). -
Left Behind: A Quick Dose Of Post Big 12 Reality
SimonBolivar replied to LTtxfan's topic in Football
The SEC will reveal Tuesday *all* opponents for every team in its new 9-game schedule for football in 2026. The 3 "permanent" rivals will be referred to as "annual opponents," which will be reviewed every 4 years. It isn't hard B12, even if nobody wants to play UCF every year. -

Week Four CFB Preview: The Eyes of the World Turn to Illinois @ Indiana
texifornia replied to texifornia's topic in Football
Beyond the CFP stuff, in terms of letting your eyeballs simply observe football, this is also a well-balanced and truly quadbox-worthy Saturday. Three must-monitor games in each time range, plus whatever is happening simultaneously in your team's conference, starting with the early round: The Big 12's current brand: a whole bunch of good teams, but maybe only one elite at a time. Among the undefeateds, Texas Tech at Utah (-3 per BetMGM) could help establish an actual upper class. The 104th Iron Skillet battle between 2-0 TCU (-7) and 2-1 SMU will be the last, at least for now. Dave Wilson on the history of this rivalry, once the biggest deal in all of football. 2-1 Arkansas (-7.5) at 3-0 Memphis is one of two games in which a top-tier contender for the G5's CFP spot could snatch Shiniest Takedown status away from 2-1 USF. The middle of Saturday: Auburn at Oklahoma (-6.5) will establish a 4-0 SEC dark horse (and probably hurl the newly 3-1 coach back into hot-seat frenzies), and it'll also add to the 1989-2025 history of QB revenge games as Auburn's Jackson Arnold returns to Norman. If 3-0 Nebraska wins at home against 2-1 Michigan (-2.5), expect some chatter about the Wolverines' creative timing of head coach Sherrone Moore's suspension. Missing the Big Ten opener? 3-0 Tulane at 3-0 Ole Miss (-12.5) is the other game in which a lil guy could become a near-favorite to make the CFP. And hey, the Rebels also appeared in one of those dark-horse lists up top. Former SEC rivals! And from the East Coast evening onward: Indiana (-6) is in the game of the week? Sure, what else is new? The Hoosiers must be playing Ohio Sta— ... wait, Illinois is also in the game of the week? Scott Dochterman on the series' biggest game in at least 115 years. 2-1 Florida's (+7.5) games will appear in the Watch Grid until Billy Napier wins enough of them to somehow keep his job again or loses enough of them to get fired. Though the coaching carousel is technically underway, it won't really get cranking until a job this prominent opens. We will be watching 3-0 Michigan State (+18.5) play football at 2 a.m. ET. This affront to nature was brought to you by the Big Ten's love of money. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6641202/2025/09/18/college-football-schedule-week-4-indiana-until-saturday/ -
Purchased 20,000 shares of EOSE at $1.98 in 2022 and sold in February for $4.96 a share making about $60k. All my stonks had much suckage at that time and I got spooked about losing the profits. So, I sold even though the reasons I had purchased the stonk hadn’t changed. In May, EOSE’s sp climbed over $7 and I said, “Fuck this” and reentered it with 15,100 shares at $5.79. Today, EOSE spiked to $8.93 and is, currently, +.31 to $8.81 at a 52 week high. It’s safe to say I have absolutely >no< plans to sell EOSE again unless the narrative around this equity changes.

In the big games, Sark has been all ass (calls) and no fake. Not seeing nearly enough deception out there. And how about more pitchouts, sweeps, swings, maybe even a real screen pass. An FB blocking at the point of attack would be nice, or a fake to the RB and the FB stays in to protect the QB. Blitzes become a liability. -
