Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

I always used to feel that the recruit ranking services had a state of Texas bias and maybe to a small extent a UT bias, solely because of the location of some of the early creators of these services. However, if you look at the talent Texas is pulling in these days from other states, it seems like they really are getting the “better” 4 and 5 star players, as opposed to those who were rated 4 or 5 stars but had some questions about them. Herman’s 3rd ranked class was full of pretenders. -

General Gaming Thoughts That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

I'm not kidding about playing most of them. Here's a screenshot of my Steam library. That doesn't include Space Marine 1 & 2 I have on XBox, and any named differently like Blood Bow, Battlefleet Gothic, Space Hulk and Darktide (which I can screenshot too if you want): -
beyond the toxicity of the name I would think it would be tough and/or insanely expensive to get insurance for the place

1 Never heard of him. Sounds like a cool story. Tell me about this cat. 2 Don't want any riff-raff talking during the film! 3 Brandon, baby, It's a touching, inspirational (bad signs for those seeking entertainment) film about what? Say the word! 4 Cultural shifts and family military. Ok. Still, what are you talking about? 5 The man himself! "Breaking a color tradition" and the military thing again. 6 Nice vocabulary but not exactly illuminating. Sorta get the idea it has something to do with Negroes. We're in the fourth paragaph here. What did this man do? 7 Excellent distinction, corps vs military. Pointed, perhaps? 8 "Reasonable age" vs Aggie Corps. I think we can see why it took 55 years to publish this story, and even now they can only allude to McElroy's race. 9 Ahh! The first concrete achievement! Clearly Aggies see this as key to how they feel about him. He caught a touchdown pass! 10 So, catching the pass was a personal triumph for him (somehow he shares his personal triumph) and others over their experiences. They won! I can see why it was a big deal. Beating #12 LSU made the Aggies (2-0) undefeated with tons of momentum heading into a battle with #1 Ohio State who then shellacked them 56-13. October came early. No more wins all year with a death march at the end losing to Rice and SMU before #1 Texas shellacked them 52-14. The annals do not mention it, but it's commonly believed that the Aggies proclaimed their narrower margin of defeat against Ohio State proved the Buckeyes were better than tu. Texas was awarded the pre-bowl national championship anyway. 11 Powerful examination that resonates and caltalyzes. We must never forget that touchdown agains LSU in the magical tradition-breaking win on the football field! Okay, I googled the guy: -
Damn Elon coming!

Fuck that. NFL draft picks are exceedingly valuable. Giving the player the leverage that comes with an option to return to college is crap.

So Camp Surly?

This kind of shit is a big reason I’m sending my kids out of state for college. It’s sad. I always hoped my kids would be Longhorns, too.

Rory has a case of the captain hooks today. -
Sometimes, something gets broken beyond fixing. I'd be surprised if Mystic ever reopens. Beyond the main force behind it being dead, the name will be toxic, like 3 Mile Island. No one will want to trust their kids to anything associated with that name. Something else will fill its void to provide similar experience for Texas' girls/young women of means, something that is going to have safety measures that hold up to increased scrutiny. If not from government/regulatory agencies, then from parents who are entrusting a third party to be responsible for their child.

Georgia didn’t win shit for 40 fucking years until Kirby showed up and started dropping bags that made even Saban blush. -
I hate days with no baseball. Anyone got a link for some little league?
-
Much as I enjoy laughing at A&M's persistent buffoonery, I think the rule that once someone declares for the draft he is no longer eligible to play college football is silly. I would put that point of no return at the signing of his NFL contract. Will we hear "Texas Fight"?
-
Elko pulling up the rear on the podium today. Will they cry about aggy going last at Media Days? "Sankey hates us" "We get no respect" "Lets go to the Big 10".

This is why Kerr County government needs an enema. On the Mystic stuff, the circles I am in are more sobered with respect to the future of the camp and camp management's responsibilities. We aren't sending our daughter back to even Cypress Lake if it is open, and we are hardly the only ones. I think many are sad because the family is a good family, but as a result of years of bad decisions, complacency, hubris, etc., this happened. In some ways, it was inevitable something like this was going to happen at one of these camps for those reasons. So I get the bonfire comparisons, and there are certainly some evangelists out there. But the bill will come due. It's OK for people associated with the camp to be sad about it, but I think most that I've talked to also expect accountability and know what that means. On the Kerr County side, it's more maddening because there won't be any accountability. None. The tourists and campers will be back next summer. Any explanation as to why there won't be accountability gets too CR for the sensitive ears on this forum, I guess, and is reflective of the f'd up priorities of our electorate at every level. [EDITED TO ADD "FOR THOSE REASONS". I AM NOT EXCUSING IT AS INEVITABLE SO WE JUST THROW UP OUR HANDS. I MEAN I BET A LOT OF THESE CAMPS (PROBABLY NOT ALL) MADE THE SAME MISTAKES AS MYSTIC, AND AS A RESULT, A DISASTER WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY]

Freshman Mosley (playing 6 fewer games) had more receptions, yards, and TDs than Freshman Wingo. Obviously apples to oranges because of the differences in depth/need, but some damn fine stats from him in that horrific Stanford passing offense. Looking forward to seeing what he (and Endries) can bring.
