    Texas RB Talk

Crossposting... Scipio Tex The offensive line is a wreck, the RBs are JAGS RUNNING BACK Texas totaled 15 rushing yards from all players not named Arch Manning. I guess the people arguing with me about this room’s talent are waiting for one of them to drop a 7 yard run against OU when Venables slants the wrong way to count coup, but let’s just put this one in the old PW win column. I would rather have taken a Big L. They schemed up the safety, linebacker and an edge on Wisner multiple times in pass pro, yielding a sack, two pressures. They generally manhandled him. Wisner also fell at contact on a goal line run like a fainting goat watching The Shining. Christian Clark got some run, gave up a pressure and blocked the wrong guy on only three protection snaps. On the positive side, Wisner had 8 carries for 13 yards. Which if you did three times, it’s now 3rd and a long 5. Then you go on a hard count on a 4th down, get an offsides from the defense, then we’re looking at 4th and inches, and then you can sneak it for zero when the OL do their slip n slide belly slide. Turnover on downs, but you establish the run and these body blows pay off in the 4th quarter
  6. This is the likely issue. We took shit for granted and lost our edge as a result. The talent is there to fix it at most positions, but likely not this season. Let’s hope he realizes the issues and adjusts before it turns into a tailspin.

    2025 ACL

Made it through all three days. I'm in bad shape today (bounced back after day 1 and 2, not so much day 3) If I just think of the highlights yesterday, The Dare was an absolute kick ass show although someone should get fired for scheduling him in the daytime. WTF!? Followed The Dare with Wet Leg, got nice and close and the show was amazing! They have such a good stage presence. Love this band since they broke out in 2022. Passion Pit - waiting 40 minutes inside a ridiculously stuffed tent (crowd outside was massive) and... meh. Sound was off. We made it through 5 songs and left. Really poor location choice and I don't know. They didn't sound right. Disco Lines looked like a madhouse but I bet it was awesome. Caught some of Phantogram which was great Saw John Summit from the Magenta Lounge - crowd way bigger than The Strokes. Great vibes and very cool pyrotechnics. Definitely recommend that show. Crowd size just kept growing and growing. ...and I'm spent. So glad I'm volunteering next weekend
  9. This is clearly Mack Brown's doing... his return to Austin and inject himself in what was our winning trajectory, absolutely cursed us and derailed the program. His meddling will be our downfall, again.... 😖 https://www.si.com/college/texas/football/former-texas-longhorns-coach-mack-brown-worries-about-impact-current-nil-model "Although the former Texas Longhorns head coach believes programs "should've paid players forever," he has expressed concerns about the way in which players are currently paid."
  10. It finally happened. Started a dynasty with my team builder East Texas University and got this gem in the portal.
  11. Watch it get released that his tox screen came back negative, and he’s just that big an asshole.
  12. Yes, but see....on the other side of the equation are the most arrogant and greedy assholes in human history. And they have complete and total regulatory capture of the government of the most powerful country in the world. So, we already know how this is going to go. Adios, fellas. Maybe the cockroaches will eventually evolve into intelligent life with more morality and common sense than we brought to the table.
  13. Shocking how little reporting and discussion there's been about this issue, especially considering the recent concern over political violence. Time: House of South Carolina Judge Criticized by Trump Administration Burns Down Police are investigating the cause of a fire that burned down the home of South Carolina Circuit Court judge Diane Goodstein, who had reportedly received death threats for weeks related to her work. State law enforcement is investigating the house fire on Edisto Beach, which began at around 11:30 a.m. E.T. on Saturday, sources told local news outlet FITSNews. Goodstein was reportedly not at home at the time of the fire, but at least three members of her family, including her husband, former Democratic state senator Arnold Goodstein, and their son, have been hospitalized with serious injuries. Advertisement According to the St. Paul’s Fire District, which responded to the scene, the occupants had to be rescued via kayak. Law enforcement has not disclosed whether the fire is being investigated as an arson attack. “At this time, we do not know whether the fire was accidental or arson. Until that determination is made, [State Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel] has alerted local law enforcement to provide extra patrols and security,” South Caroline Chief Justice John Kittredge told FITSNews, adding that the fire appeared to have been caused by an “explosion.” The 69-year-old judge had received death threats in the weeks leading up to the fire, multiple sources told FITSNews. Last month, Goodstein had temporarily blocked the state’s election commission from releasing its voter files to the Department of Justice, a decision that was openly criticized by Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon and later reversed by the state Supreme Court. The DOJ had sought the information, including names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and social security numbers, of over three million registered voters as part of President Donald Trump’s March executive order restricting non-citizens from registering to vote. (Non-citizens are already not allowed to vote in federal and state elections.) ... Hours before the fire at Goodstein’s house, Trump’s deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller accused U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut of “legal insurrection” for granting a restraining order that blocks Trump’s deployment of the Oregon National Guard in Portland. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, said in a post from his office that Miller’s accusation “for ruling on a case isn’t just reckless. It’s authoritarian propaganda, plain and simple.” (Miller has previously accused Democrats of using incendiary language to “mark people” for political violence.) Trump has called specific judges who have pushed back on his executive orders “radical left lunatic” and “troublemaker and agitator.” In May, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the panel of judges that ruled against Trump’s sweeping tariffs “activist judges.” In a post that month, Miller said, “We are living under a judicial tyranny.”

  14. The last 3 elections have been won by old motherfuckers. Its almost like words and ideas are more important than some instrisic value of youth
  15. Crossposting... Scipio Tex OFFENSIVE LINE Texas gave up 22 pressures (per PFF), 6 sacks (I counted it as 7 or 8, but I guess they become QB runs at 0 yards) and five other hard QB hits against a Florida DL ranked in the 100s in havoc rate coming into this game. They combined for six offensive penalties (Brooks and Baker had four of them), which ties a season OL record. I feel like they’re capable of breaking the record against Oklahoma, but it will take a team effort. Their penalties were mostly lack of discipline and focus, but two of them were tackles getting physically manhandled and having to hold on. Baker got ran through like Madonna at the 1997 NBA All Star Game in the second half. Three OL were unplayable – Stroh, Brooks, Baker. By unplayable, I mean their play warranted immediate benching, but we can’t because it’s only Year 6 and one can’t expect Flood to have built out a functional OL by now. Respect the process and check back in 2033. Stroh is Stroh, Brooks is a true freshman who has no idea how to pass block (he gave up 8 pressures!) and I’m sympathetic to his plight, and Baker is a fairly athletic tackle with good feet who isn’t strong and doesn’t appear to have gotten a lot of technical coaching about how to use his assets (feet, motor). He can’t overcome a strength program built on ads in the back of Tiger Beat magazine. Two were barely playable – Hutson, Goosby. Hutson has bad feet, lunges in pass pro, and can’t handle athleticism or power. Goosby is an upgraded Baker. Very athletic, long, good feet, still weak. His technique has plateaued and it shouldn’t have. DJ Campbell was actually OK. Our scheme is very simplistic and Florida repeatedly toyed with us by getting our OL to honor useless slide pro rules that don’t apply to the pressures they were running. A scheme that puts Wisner on an edge while two OL block air isn’t ideal. Anyway, here’s our friend Nash to cheer you up. Thanks Nash.
  16. 36 hours in a row was significant. 3 separate 12 hour shifts in a week ain't shit.
  17. That was a Motel 6 years ago.
  18. Have the day you voted for, dudes.
  19. I think we turn it around at practice today boys
  20. I think it is now clear that the NFL style program that Sark has sought to implement is a massive failure. NFL players are grown men who have made it through the college ranks as elite players, and with small roster sizes most players have to scratch and claw to obtain and maintain their roster spot. They have the maturity and professionalism to handle a professional mindset. Sark has said to anyone who will listen that Texas was going to pace themselves to prepare for a 16 game season. Implicit in that is that Texas will, naturally of course - by virtue of how highly ranked and outlandishly talented the players are - make the playoff. The regular season is for preparing to peak in the post season. They ditched the spring game. They eased up on fall camp. They've been less physical in practice. Sark openly talks about wanting to avoid running the team down, wanting to avoid injuries. There is some wisdom in that, but wherever the ideal balance is, Texas is far away from that. That works in the NFL with professionals. We're learning that doesn't work with college players. It creates a soft culture. Players who aren't finished products but act like they are. There were a handful of players who left it all on the field Saturday. The majority were largely indifferent. Attitude reflects leadership. This is a self inflicted lost year. I hope adjustments are made and the program gets back to acting like wins are earned and not assumed.
  21. I mean, the dig behind the short route was open.
