  1. Past hour
  2. They way things are going, and given my surly & s/m posting history, I won't be surprised if they pop open a door and startt strafing my house.
  3. The difference is I have been there. And you won't listen. But deal. Posse East.
  4. Maybe something that says, "I'm not mad, just disappointed."?
  5. I'd honestly love to have a beer and discuss broadly esp as it related to American foreign policy. I think that we'd probably agree on more than we disagree on.
  6. Wake me up when they're gunships hosing MAGAs.
  7. Maybe, just maybe, you should read a book other than a medical journal. I am happy to buy you a beer and discuss in person. Do you know how long this has been going on? Have you studied, or forbid, lived in the Middle East? I have no issue with wiping out Hamas. But shooting people, and get this, get US sponsored aid from a US sponsored group? You like to go both ways. I get it.
  8. Yeah, I know. Just realize that where I live now is 80/20 Trump country. From my backyard, which sits on a steep ridge, there’s a creek that’s less than two football fields away from a creek that feeds directly into the Colorado River, and eventually the Highland Lakes. Stuff gets filtered, ends up in Spence, Ivie, Buchanan, and then on down the line. Fortunately, for me, I'm now on a well now, drinking ancient dinosaur piss. Unfortunately, you and the rest of Austin aren't so lucky. Enjoy. What we choose to do directly affects others. Refusing to force them to take care of their own shit will eventually fuck you over, too. You know this, and I know you know this, and I'm as embittered by everything as much as you are, but I don't know what else to say at this point in terms of flood mitigation and/or water quality. A regional authority of some sort should be the answer. Look, my stating obvious answers to hydrological conundrums isn't going to solve shit. I know that -- I'm not naive. I'm just giving voice to obvious fucking answers that shouldn't require a degree for such a simple gotdam response. Mystic? You fucked up. Children in your care died. Kerrville/Kerr County? You fucked up, too. Both children and daytrippers died. Texas? Yeah, treat flood stuff like you did 100 years ago when state highways -- along with FM and RR roads -- became a priority because those corrupt early-20th-century knobs who implemented such a far-reaching system were more sophisticated than current state leadership is today. Hell, who gave LCRA the authority to budget its waters? It's all so gotdam obvious. But, without state leadership, nothing is going to get done. This state needs an LBJ-type guy to throw his considerable swinging dick weight around for these numbskulls to even consider thinking more than one step beyond what grandma is cooking for Sunday lunch.
  9. Clearly you didn’t PM Derka first.
  10. I sincerely regret that european guilt for the atrocities they committed against european jews is manifesting in deflection as it relates to the ethnic cleansing of arab palestinians in the occupied territories. It's all just amazing stuff really.
  11. Yeah. Still not clicking. Asymmetrical power dynamics aren’t inherently evil. Using asymmetrical power isn’t inherently evil. Using it against civilians…for the express purpose of ethnic cleansing…is evil. Without relitigating all of history, after Hamas attacked on Oct 7, Israel had a right to use its power - asymmetrical as it was - to go after the perpetrators and cripple the threat. Didn’t think that was a super controversial take, but there we are. What Israel is doing now - and has been doing for a long-ass time in this “war” - is not just beyond what could have been justified, it’s just open genocidal war-criming. And again, it’s been doing so for the majority of this war.
  12. Rip76

    Ozzy has passed.

  13. It doesn't matter if he fully grasps every bit of nuance or not. I know fully well the conversations that were had. What's important is he does recognize the genocide, how utterly awful Israel's leadership is, our role in perpetuating everything that's happening, etc. Meanwhile, Steven Colbert is probably getting replaced by fucking Bari Weiss's (whose entire goddamn career is nothing but open and extreme capitulation to Israel) bitch ass, CBS news was just today demanding on national television that the dude that the Trump administration falsely imprisoned and attempted to deport for being openly pro-Palestinian while brown "condemn Hamas" as if we've come full circle, and the fucking House minority leader won't endorse the Democratic nominee for mayor in his own fucking city because he won't support Israel. There are a lot more and a lot worse broken brains out there too worry about than someone who might have been less than agreeable on this topic 2 years ago.
  14. Our toxins contaminate their precious bodily fluids. Aggie out front shoulda told ya.
  15. When I was a youngster I bumped into Ozzy Osbourne at Sound Warehouse on Shepard. He was there to do a promo for KLOL. The only thing I could find for him to sign was a large poster board… I asked him to sign it "pretty big." He did.
  16. Ya mean like this?
  17. Teams can't poison pill a contract any more, and the value of the APY is what's tallied in a trade now. Also, most teams are running with zero cap space, so the few that do have space would be tying up 15-20m in free agent money to Tari, while the Rockets can easily match it after several days. Kuminga didn't even get a free agent offer as an RFA this offseason because of it. Best to sign a 1 year QO and hit the market as a free agent to maximize money, unless the team is willing to give you a big long term deal. I think it's great for the Rockets to have that flexibility and see what he can do this year.
  18. last 13 framber starts = 13 astro W's
  19. I didn't bring anything up now other than point out the absurdity of brisket talking down to other posters excusing an asymmetrical military power situation as it relates to Israel and Palestine. Attention span is hard. I get it.
  20. True enough. So that leaves us with the question of whether or not saving $1M/accepting Obama's dirty covid vaxxer $ was worth all those lives lost. ETA: That said, for some reason I was under the impression that those helos were making all those flights in support of the recovery effort. If it's not that, then what kind of assistance are they giving to the cleanup? Serious question. Anyone?
  21. My cat, Scratch, is an inside/outside cat. He decided to take a nap on the patio. I suppose he finds this comfortable.
  22. No I mean all the discourse we went through back when Oct. 7th happened. There were a lot of people in here spouting off ahistorical, hysterical nonsense, for like 2 straight years. Even among the more well meaning posters like yourself. A lot of lessons had to be learned. I never bring it up because it's irrelevant and pointless, as most people have come to recognize these events for what they actually are by now, and I'm not going to point out any specifics for that same reason. Ana bringing it up now is not helpful and serves no purpose other than to try and score a few Internet points that no one gives a shit about.
