  1. Past hour
  2. I booked an Airbnb for this weekend so my parents, sister’s family and my family can hang out under one roof for a few days. My parents are visiting from Taiwan. My dad is going on 85 and is still in good shape, but he is slowing down a bit. Not sure if they’re going to keep visiting every year, so it’ll be nice to just hang out with the parents and their grandkids.
  3. Meh. It’s Monday in America.
  4. just getting a bit of a head start on August...

  6. He fucked so much up that inning I thought he was gonna set the hollywood hills on fire.
  7. Brigette Bardot (Shalako) did for me when I was 12. ... and the Cheyenne Social Club is a Top 10 movie for me, James Stewart has always been a hero, https://youtu.be/6dapbahFe-Y?t=76 Pinocchio getting swallowed by the whale did it to me. For my kids, Twister. Both of my kids were born in Oklahoma, one in Enid, not to far from Wakita. I thought it would be a good idea to take them to see Twister at ages 6 & 8. Parenting grade? F-. Kids are still traumatized by thunderstorms. My son had a 7th grade swim party, after which ~ 20 kids stayed to watch The Exorcist. It start out with them laughing at the lines and making fun of they had heard on TV shows. After a while, it started getting quiet, to quiet. I went to check, and the kids were petrified, not talking, or moving, barely breathing. Some of the neighborhood kids insisted I walk them home, down the middle of the street instead of the sidewalks, on a well lit street in a gated community.
  8. The Duo of Previously Blind Dudes are both going to see big things this year.
  9. Little do they know, you're actually on a message board full of assholes.
  10. After Covid and the first PE sell out (and inflation which has occurred across the donut market), prices crept up (>$1.25 per donut) and quality went down (smaller meat/more bread in ‘kolaches’, less filling and icing on donuts, jelly donuts seem smaller). They used to send out email coupons and birthday rewards, then they introduced an app where the rewards get sent. “Oh nice, maybe it adds convenience like other restaurants’ apps!?” Nope, their app blows. It’s like finding your specific Shipleys location is dealing with a subcontractor and they charge you a fee to use the app. “Free glazed donut for your birthday” (less a $2.50 convenience fee). And they still haven’t figured out how to make decent regular coffee. I’m certain this new PE owner will accelerate the enshitening. That being said, Shipleys glazed are still the gold standard. How the fuck do Southern Maid franchises stay in business? Their donuts are more stale and worse tasting than trucked in Dunkin Donuts, and their kolaches are $5 each.
  11. I was at a track get together with several parents of current college athletes. To a person, all of them mentioned coaches telling them the recruiting priorities in order are: International, portal, HS athletes in top 10-15 nationally. The trimming of rosters is mandatory with the new roster limits. Recruiting for HS track will look a lot like baseball, with lower level schools being the “minors.” Many also think you will see an increase in injuries with smaller rosters and asking more of certain athletes to double or triple up in events.
