2019 - 2020 Houston Rockets Thread of Heroes Taking Shots

Lol @ them rushing the court like they just won the Finals. Maybe they can hang a banner in the Eric Gordon Memorial Arena next to their conference champs banners.

Jazz bot a buzzer beater against us.

The Rockets managed to get more shot attempts than the Jazz (95 to 86) despite being out rebounded (36 to 48). The Rockets offensive philosophy needs to change because they can not consistently hit 3 points shots (this will never happen so long as Daryl Morey is there and it's time for a change in the GM position - D'Antoni is gone after this season). 15/42 behind the arc won't cut it and Harden is too stubborn to adapt when his game is off. He should never be going 2/13 from 3.

Fuck I hate the Jazz. Brutal.

They might get home court if the Rockets see them in the playoffs and there is no big man to go up against Gobert. The Rockets need a paint protector and a rebounder. Too bad they couldn't get Steven Adams because he seemed to coexist well in the paint with Westbrook.

15/42 from three is fine, still >1 pt per shot attempt. Do you complain if the team is < 100% on FTs? The individual 2/13 is unacceptable, especially for a guy who can get to the rim AND who constantly gets the benefit of the doubt on foul calls.

You have a point. Rockets manufactured 1.09 points for each 2 point attempt taken versus 1.07 points for each 3 point attempt taken. For that matter, Harden went 9/10 on 2 point attempts. Those points per attempt (both 2s and 3s) increase if Harden has better shot selection. Considering the Rockets had 7 offensive rebounds to the Jazz's 10, it does not appear that the rebounding discrepancy had much of an impact towards the final result of this particular game.

Rockets were outscored at the FT line, that was the difference. Harden missed 2 as did Westbrook. Those 2 can't be missing 4+ against the best teams in the West, especially when they only went to the line 14 total times as a team. There is nothing wrong with the philosophy they are playing, they just need better players. Sefolosha and Rivers can be improved upon. I would replace Rivers with Isaiah Thomas or Waiters. There should be a slew of buyout candidates to replace Sefolosha. Probably could find another rotation piece for Chandler's spot as well.

Last thing this team needs is another short dude who can't play defense.

The team doesn't need guys that can't consistently score 5+ points a game. If you are getting almost 20 minutes, you can't be going 0fer.

the ending sucked, but the team has shown in 2 games again western conference contenders that they can be competitive playing this style.

i'd still like to get a serviceable big who can play 15-20 minutes/game to save guys some wear and tear

Agreed. But IT is a horrible option for this team. Playing small ball with good defenders is one thing. Playing small ball with church league defense is something different.

It is what it is and even if they went and got a big there isn't one we could pick up that get us over the hump and win a title. We definitely aren't winning one with any small ball lineup over a 7 game series that's for sure. Depending on where we fall in the standings this team could easily lose in the first round, especially if they fall to a 6th seed and best case scenario is they move as high as 3rd but that is best case.

Oh yeah. It was pretty obvious early that we don't have it.

Utah is not a Western Conference contender.

Being competitive means jack shit if you don't win the games that you're supposed to win. Big win on the road versus the Lakers followed by a blowout loss against the Suns and losing at the buzzer at home against the Jazz with a full strength roster. This team is too Jekyll and Hyde to do anything of substance in the playoffs.

Technically the roster wasn't at full strength against the Jazz. Gordon was out with an injury. It appears Gordon is out until after the AS break. Bruno gets back after the AS break as well. I am good with the starting 5 of Westbrook, Harden, House, Convington, and Tucker. Wish we could find rotational upgrades for Sefolosha and Rivers. While also finding another rotation piece to cut Gordon's minutes down to 20.

I totally forget about Gordon, but I would expect Harden and Westbrook at home to pull it out against the Jazz. Gordon being oft injured is getting tiresome. WTF was Morey thinking when he offered him that contract.

Fingers crossed that something positive comes after All Star break, but what should the realistic expectations be? It would be a victory if Gordon can stay healthy going into the playoffs and Caboclo is virtually unknown. Did he dramatically improve from the first time the Rockets picked him up to now when they traded for him? It is certainly much better than Tucker playing center the entire game, but then again will D'Antoni actually fit him into the 8 man rotation?

Lmao a double foul?

It's either a charge or block, the dude was obviously moving - so it's a block. Holy fuck

Nice, a challenge success!

Damn Russell just took about five steps on a spin move and elbowed Smart in the face and drew the foul. Lol maybe another challenge gonna erase this? Not a "hostile act" if he's laying it up, damn.

Covington played well on D. We would be tough if we had one more like him.

Yep need another wing and another guard. Should be looking to upgrade over Rivers and Sefolosha. There should be some decent options in the buyout market.

Good night for the Rockets overall.

Philly beat the Clips, NO beat Portland, and SA beat OKC.

Hopefully Gordon can see we need him as the 6th man. Use him as the primary replacement for Russ and James.

Dont play the three together. The second unit is in desperate need of some consistency shooting the open three.

Rockets bench shot 1-7 from 3. These guys just aren’t the level of shooter required.

Boston took down the Clippers. 2.5 games out of 3rd, 3 games out of 2nd. Have a pretty easy schedule after the AS break, something like under .450 winning percentage in the 28 games remaining.

Last year all these fools had to do was beat OKC to lock up the #2 seed and they went and fucked the goat to get the #4 seed having to face GS in the 2nd round. That is the behavior I expect from this crew

So we are signing demarre Carroll and Jeff green. Guess we are going all in on the small ball lineup.

If they can play defense and hit a couple of 3s, then it will be worth it. The immediate benefit should be a decrease in PJ Tucker's minutes.

Now the Rockets can have a similar lineup to their potent death lineup of Paul, Harden, Ariza, Tucker, Moute in 2017; Westbrook, Harden, Covington, Tucker, Carroll.

SSS, but in 205 possessions with both Tucker and Covington on the court together, the Rockets are +19 per 100 possessions, which is the 100th percentile of all lineups.
