^all of this.

Only time I have ever had an issue is a dickbag directly  across from my wife, she was on the hook, chanting for 7 every time she through the dice.

I gave him a earful, that involved some MF's and Csucker.

Every other Don't player I have ran across was quiet about it

Who gives a shit what they do? Audibly calling for a 7 isn't going to influence the dice.

I'd care more aboutt some dickbag dropping F bombs at a table, although I could pretty much care less about that as well.

There's no influence on a lot of things in a casino, especially at the craps table.  That's the beauty of the game and a very, very strong positive attraction for me.

I really DGAF if the dice hit someone's hands/ lands on the money/ were thrown by a lady/ or any of the other superstitions at the table.

That being said, there's still proper etiquette and not being a douchebag.

Yep.  I know we’re all too smart to think it matters, but some people aren’t.  Let them have fun, IMO.  Tables are better when everyone is partying, why bring that down.

Yeah openly cheering for someone else to have bad luck, right in their face, is just poor form. I'll scream at my TV for Crabtree to drop that fucking ball every time.

Of course it isn’t going to influence the dice.  It’s just bad etiquette.  If it was marginally within the realm of normal I wouldn’t care.  I don’t really care if a don’t player gets excited about a seven and collecting a win(within reason).

Understand what “successful” means.  If you’re looking for a strategy that wins over time, stop looking.  There is none.

This strategy successfully keeps the bleeding slow (allowing ample time for drinks and fun) while occasionally putting you on a rush when the dice are rolling hot.

Not so much that it is gambling, but rather the house has an edge built into the game by design.  Given enough play, they will always win.

My suggestion is to play 3x/4x/5x odds on your pass line & come bets. If the table is hot you'll have the time of your life. If not, you'll lose whatever you were okay with buying in. Anyone who just wants to play for free drinks can go sit at a penny slot machine for Christ's sakes

Yeah.  The best thing to do is to figure out our goal before formulating a strategy.  I went to vegas with the fiancee and used the HG method.  I didn't win or lose for the first 20 minutes but it was evident that my rookie partner wasn't having a good time.  I got us on the pass line, bet the field, and did the place bets.  I would explain the bets and ask her what she wanted to bet on when it wasn't her roll (I was placing bets and she was rolling for us) and she perked up.  Then she had a good roll herself and now she is hooked.  The HG method would have been fine for me to fuck around with but it would have killed the thrill of craps for her.  I went more aggressive and luckily the table came alive.  We grabbed a hard pack and ripped some cowboy killers while drinking white russians.  Then we banged after winning a few hundred bucks.

I like the discussion point of what is considered a "success" at the craps table.

Is it measured in a given session?  I tend to break my bankroll into segments of play and once it is played out for its respective time slot, it is off limits.

Is it the length of time you got to play? I've seen many a player walk up and buy in for a grand.  Less than 10 minutes later it's either gone or they're coloring up to 3 Vitamin C.  The flipside of that is the grinder(me!!!) who buys in and plays all day for booze and the cameradery at the table and maybe gets a free buffet/ dinner thrown in.

Is it the total experience-  You stayed 2 nights in a comped room, had great meals and you and the wife spent about $500 at the tables.  Not a bad weekend( midweek getaway) for the cost.

For me, most of the time, i want to play longer, so i bet pretty damned conservatively.  There are times however, especially on a day trip to Lake Charles, I know I have to leave in 45 minutes, so fuck it, let's get some real gambling in.  At that point, I'm swinging for the fences and consider it fun, win or lose.

Here’s The HG method so we don’t lose it:

The very first roll for a given shooter is called the "come out" roll. If the come out is a 7 or 11, those betting on the Pass Line win. If it's a 2, 3, or 12, those betting on the Pass Line lose. If the come out is anything other than those numbers (i.e., it's 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10), that number becomes the point. Then the shooter proceeds to keep rolling until he rolls either a 7 or the point again.

To bet the HG way, ignore the come out roll. Just stand there and let that roll happen. Most people will be betting on it, but no one will look at you funny for not doing so. Once a point is established, the dealer will put a marker that says "ON" next to that number and you can start betting.

Start off by putting a Place bet on the three inside numbers that are not the point (the inside numbers are 5, 6, 8, and 9 because they are "inside" the 4 and 10 on the layout). A Place bet is a bet that a certain number will be rolled BEFORE a 7 is rolled. Because of the odds, the dealers will want you to bet in increments of $6 on the 6 and 8, and $5 on everything else (assuming a $5 minimum table). Don't worry, they'll help you keep the math straight.

So if the point is a 5, you'll place a minimum bet on each of the 6, 8, and 9. If the point is a 6, you'll bet the 5-8-9. And so on. If the point is either a 4 or a 10, bet the three inside numbers closest to the point. For example, bet on 5-6-8 if the point is 4.

Depending on what the point is exactly, you're going to be putting down a total of either $16 (if point is 6 or 😎 or $17 (if point is anything else) on the three numbers. Hence, this bet is called "16 inside" or "17 inside". Note, if the point is 4 or 10, you'll have to specify what numbers you want when you say "17 inside" because there are 4 available numbers but you're only putting down enough money for three bets. Otherwise, you can put down your money and say 16 or 17 inside and the dealer will know what to do.

After everyone makes their bets, the shooter will roll some more. Collect the first two hits on your bets ("collect" meaning, take that money off the table when you get paid out and put it in your pocket). These first two hits will pay you back a total of $14, so you'll be almost even on your initial $16 or $17 bet. Then you start pressing the bets when they hit instead of collecting them. Follow the schedule below.

Betting schedule:

5/9 - 5-15-35 (full collect) - 85-100-150 - 350 (full) - 500 and so on.

6/8 - 6-12-30 (full collect) - 60 (full) - 120 - 300 (full) - 600 and so on.

Here's an example. Come out roll is a 9. You put down $17 on the table and say "17 inside" to the dealer. He will arrange your bets accordingly on the 5-6-8. Next roll is a 5. He'll put down $7 in front of you to pay off your bet on the 5. Put that $7 in your pocket. Next roll is an 8. Same thing, he'll put down $7, put it in your pocket (or your rack, whatever). Those are your initial collects to get you back close to even. Next roll is another 8. Dealer will begin to put down $7 again, but instead of picking it up, you say to him "make it 12". That's you letting him know you want to press your bet on the 8 to $12 (following the schedule above). He'll add $6 to your bet on the 8 to make it a total of $12 and give you the extra dollar (which you can pick up and put in your rack).

If you get up to $30 or $35 on one of the numbers, and it hits, then you collect again. So if you have $30 on the 6, and it hits, you'll get $35 which you pick up and put in your pocket. Next time the 6 hits then keep on pressing (up to $60).

When the shooter rolls a 7 the table clears and you start all over for the next shooter. Your maximum exposure for any given shooter should be $16 or $17 if you're doing it right.

Tell the dealer this:

"Same bet" -  leave your original wager on the table and collect winnings.

"Take it Down" - collect winnings and original bet

"Press it up a unit" - dealer will add $5, $10 or whatever level of minimum bet table you are playing and give you remaining proceeds.

killing two hours at Harrahs NOLA before a flight, went to the system again, free drinks for the first hour as I bled down my stack.  Then one good roller puts me back up double my buy in just as the pit boss announce the min bet is going up.  Love this shit

If I’m by myself I play conservative until the session has dragged on long enough for me to be ready to leave in an hour. Then I get aggressive to either win more or lose it all. I am fully prepared to lose everything I bring but I would like to get a nice dinner in before I get fucked if you know what I mean. Winning is always fun and that is the aftertaste that you will have when you leave the casino but I’m just fine losing as long as it was a fun ride. Nothing sucks more than losing everything in one turn around the table. But if I have ups and downs and lose it all then I’m ok. If I’m winning then it just doesn’t matter. I’ll walk when I’m tired of waiting for the next hot hand.

Right. All you can do as a smart bettor is to minimize the edge. Which is why I don't like the Gandolf method, it doesn't minimize the edge. The Gandolf method results in a longer time before your roll is gone, sure, but it also makes it more likely you will walk away a loser after betting some set amount.

I've played a shit-ton of dice over the better part of 20 years. I've been at the tables with rude mofos, drunk POSes, and cussing cunts; but have lodged exactly zero complaints to the box, a pit boss, or security.  I HAVE colored up and taken a break.  I HAVE told people to chill the fuck out.  I have left that table for the evening.

For some reason, I expect the casino employees to act upon rude behavior before I have to.  For the vast majority of my playing experience, that holds true.  If someone is disrespectful enough to challenge my choice of betting, I have met that in kind with a request for them to bankroll me so they can have input, otherwise, they can STFU.

I’ve won a lot more than I had lost playing the system exclusively. That doesn’t factor in the hours of free booze. I also find that when I do hit a run and double up or more it takes forever to give it back. So much so I usually toss my buy in my pocket and just have fun with house money after that.

My new add to the system is to have the balls to call my bets “off” and take the 500 off the table before the shooter craps out.

There's nothing wrong with that last play if you have some "win goal" in mind while playing.

May you rot in hell if the next throw of the dice makes you want it all back up again.

Vegas report:

Tables were cold as hell this week at Bellagio, Cosmo, and Caesars...right up until my final night.

Was down to my final $200 cash-in at a $15 table at Caesars when the dice finally started rolling my way. Hit two nice parlayed hard sixes, one time for a $900 payout, and walked away an hour or so later with $1800 and up $300 for the week. Did drunkenly throw away $200 at Bellagio on some long shot Roulette bets before heading to the room but still came home with a bit more cash than I came into town with (for the fourth trip in a row, actually).

I don’t care where you are, life at a hot table is about as good as it gets.

Played 3 days at Aria in Vegas this week. Tables were $10 the whole time which was nice. First time with HG method which I played exclusively. First session table was brutal and dropped $300 in about an hour. 2nd session buy in $200, cash out $500, so back even. 3rd session buy in $200, cash out $800. 4th session up another $200, 5th session drop $200, 6th win back $250.  So leave $850 up after 3 days. Not too bad.

Seems the HG method works pretty well for what it is. As long as the table is not totally cold it slows the bleeding down and pays off w a few hot rollers.

Have to echo that it's not the most exciting way to play. Definitely don't recommend if you're trying to have fun playing with your wife/gf. My main "complaint" I guess is that you don't really get to celebrate a point made. Still, winning is more fun than losing and I'll go to it again.

Another thing, I was hoping to get some better comps after spending ~15 hrs betting 32-34 per shooter. I mean, obviously not high roller stuff, but I got upgraded to MLife "pearl" status and all I got out of it was comped parking. What's the secret to getting a free meal, night, etc.?

You’ll get offers via email quite regularly. I’m getting offers for 3 nights at Aria etc. Theyll fly you out to Beau Rivage for 2-3 nights at $50, too. Definitely try to do that one at least once

I still celebrate with the rest of the table when a point is made.  Good for the karma, and pretty much no one knows you don't have money on the point except the dealers.  If I'm a decent amount on the system, I will throw a small bet down on the pass line just for grins.

Oklahoma update: they will be ditching the card system and finally going with dice at some point later this year. I’m hearing around November for Winstar and should also happen at Choctaw and in Tulsa. Still will have the stupid ante but they are anticipating a pick up in action and will add tables ahead of the change.

Trip report: Ruidoso NM

Inn of the Mountain Goats... Gods Casino

$5 min/ $300 max bet

3x/4x/5x max odds

on the don’ts, not that many of you care, but they have 6x max odds bet, but unlike every other single casino in which I have played where the max is fixured off of your payoff; this shit-show establishment says your odds cannot be more than 6x your initial flat bet.

Oh, so I’m looking around after having had their bullshit ruleset explained to me; and not a swinging dick has a drink in their hand beyond iced tea or a Coke.  I ask the crew if they sell beer or if it is complimentary.

“Neither.  We have a shot bar that opens at 7 and that is all of the alcohol allowed in the casino.”

Even with their fucked up rules, I was up $300 after playing for an hour. Upon hearing the alcohol rules, combined with the fact that I was frustrated at not being able to wager more on my odds; I colored up and GTFO of there.

Going to the horse races tomorrow.  Just chilling out and enjoying nice ass weather in the mountain pines.  This place is a great little getaway, but the casino sucks ass.

Wait...an ante on every roll of the dice?

I don’t think so. I don’t play craps in OK but I think the way it works is if you want to make a bet on the table, you’ll have to pay an ante to the casino. You pay only per come out roll. Once the point is established you can bet as much/little as you’d like without another payment of ante.

I don't understand.  What do you mean that the max is usually figured off of your payoff?

When I play at either property in Lake Charles, they have 20x odds.

If I am playing the dont, and the point is 5 or 9, that means on a $5 bet, my odds laid can be up to $150, which is paid at $5 for the initial don’t pass bet and $100( or 20x 5) on the odds. Every casino in which I have ever played enforces their odds limit in the same way...except this freaking joint.

If this Chuck E Cheese gamblin house did it like everyone else, you would be able to lay $45 odds on a $5 bet, which would pay $30 or their limit of 6x odds;   With their fucked up rules, you can only lay $30 odds on a $5 bet.

Long story short:  Their rules fuck the player and make it even harder to win...as if the house needed help.

Christ I've just been getting KILLED at the tables. Last 5 or 6 trips to Vegas, several sessions each time, I don't think I've walked away from a table with more than I started more than twice. Always disciplined power press ("hg") method, very rarely on tilt, just a horrific run over 18 months. I might as well go play roulette.

Craps Is never an +EV game Until you make it past the come out roll on the donts.

When people ask me why I bet the way I do, it comes down to that fact.

I know.

The point remains, LOL, once the point is established in craps, you have the advantage on the don’ts.

Why do you think they will let you take that bet down at any time?  They’d LOVE for you to take that bet down...

Played a lot of craps this past weekend in Vegas. Alternated between a modified HG method and a 3 point Molly system when I was shooting. I'm not a big better but the low limit ($15 tables) are all max 2x odds so I preferred Place Bets when I could.

Had a few good rolls and did manage to hit the feature bet (High numbers/Low Numbers) three times over the weekend. Unfortunately one time I only had money on each end. FWIW I've seen that hit 4 times but never saw the full Fire bet hit so really liking that bet in it's place. Lost my ass playing blackjack and gave a lot of it back.

Fire Bet was my favorite, but it doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Rio/PH had some screwy game even the dealers didn’t buy into. Aria had the High/Low/All game. I hit a few on either side but not the All this trip.

oh hi guys.

so as far as philosophy, fun, intent, etc - it seems like many of you "get" it, and some enjoy it, have had success, whatever, which is nice.  but here's the way i always think about why i play the system, and i've had this discussion with countless dealers, stick-men, and pit bosses:

at any busy craps table in the world, there will usually be about 2 crazy rolls a day.  the types of rolls you tell your friends about, and post about on message boards.  the point of the system is to extend your bankroll (whatever it happens to be) for as long as possible, to make your odds of being at the table when that roll comes as high as possible.  the nature of the system will pretty much ensure that (if played correctly) a monster roll will reward the system moreso than the general "pressers" and consistently smart players.

if you can hit a few numbers here and there, maybe someone goes crazy on a certain number, "jesus christ, again with the nine, hit the point already" on a roll that isn't a crazy roll but huge for you, then it's plenty exciting and worth the time.

like slorch, hk and i used to love to just lean and chatter and booze it up and have a nice time.  if i wanted to try to turn $500 into $1000 and i didn't have time to spare, i would put it on red or some shit.  this is craps.  we're more sophisticated than that.

as you were.

Hit the tables on Friday....  Tell me how dumb this is... (I left up $250 after 4 hours).

I didn't want to play the HG method because I wanted more action.  Table was crowded and me and my 4 friends had to seep into slots as they opened up.  Once I got a spot everyone was rolling a minimum of probably 5-8 tosses before crapping out.  Many people were throwing 12-15 times before crapping.

I would be tthe pass line.  If the point landed on 5, 6, 8, 9 I would back up my pass line.  If 5, 6, 8 came out then I would bet the come on the next roll, trying to establish 2 points in the 5, 6, 8, 9.  If I got 2 points in the 5, 6, 8 then I would start betting the field each roll.  The field was getting a lot of payoff for me all night.  Once I returned about the money I had on the table, I would press every place bet on the 5, 6, 8, 9.  I had some really good runs doing that.

**Please note, if 9 was the point I wouldn't bet the field.  I would go with a more aggressive HG model.

Had a friend playing the Don'ts and he got murdered.  After reading Slorch's strategy I tried to talk him out of the don'ts because the table stayed hot the whole time we were there.  I only rolled three times in 4 hours.

If I recall, the field is terrible, and certainly not less aggressive than HG method.
