What dystopian book/movie does 2020 most represent?

If we're going to do Phillip K. Dick/Ahnold, let's go with Running Man.  Richard Dawson would have been the perfect host.

We all know that if such a show were to exist, it would trounce everything else in the ratings.  That's where we are at.

Running Man was Stephen King

Is there a movie where the economy collapses, lots of people die, everything is on fire, and everyone is getting raped like hell in every metaphorical way possible?  That's the movie.

You just described The Road, except the rape is real.

Shit, you're right.

In my defense, I haven't seen the movie since it came out.

Speaking of Arnold, it does feel a bit like Total Recall. We’re the citizens of Mars and Cohaagen has shut down the ventilation, slowly killing us.

But with none of the three titty'd broads.

I think Vic has a three titty broad in his stable.  Could just be a fat roll, but it looks like a third boob anyway,

I'm pretty sure we are headed into the cinematic world of Mad Max; I only hope it is the Theron version and not Mel Gibson.

I'm going with "Red Dawn", with really really tiny Soviet invaders.

Kids are at school, invasion happens, no more school ...  they flee to the woods.  They are OK but the adults are being rounded up and they don't look so good.  Hopefully not everyone dies in the end.

Hostel. We’re at the mercy of the twisted desires of the rich and powerful.

I know this isn’t a movie or book, but this shit has exited the realm of Jerry Springer and into real life in parts of the country.

Not really all of that, but the answer is Idiocracy. Trump is Camacho, there are many doctors that sound as intelligent as Dr. Lexus these days, scro, and the protestors and Twitterverse are generally the general populace from the movie.

Do you even know why Brawndo kills Covid-19?  It’s got electrolytes.

That big ol' building was the textile mill
It fed our kids and it paid our bills
But they turned us out and they closed the doors
We can't make it here anymore

See all those pallets piled up on the loading dock
They're just gonna set there till they rot
Cause there's nothing to ship, nothing to pack
Just busted concrete and rusted tracks
Empty storefronts around the square
There's a needle in the gutter and glass everywhere
You don't come down here 'less you're looking to score
We can't make it here anymore

The bar's still open but man it's slow
The tip jar's light and the register's low
The bartender don't have much to say
The regular crowd gets thinner each day

Some have maxed out all their credit cards
Some are working two jobs and living in cars
Minimum wage won't pay for a roof, won't pay for a drink
If you gotta have proof just try it yourself Mr. CEO
See how far $5.15 an hour will go
Take a part time job at one of your stores
Bet you can't make it here anymore

Your book is coming true, but you will not be saved by God, you will be saved by the Son, nor will you be saved by the Holy Spirit.

In fact...you will not be saved at all.

Well done.  Man, that movie is a lot scarier than I remember.  We watched it and laughed as kids.  Now it scares the heck out of me.
