Matt Kuchar to apologize to caddie, pay him full $50,000

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Matt Kuchar heard a few catcalls from spectators at the Genesis Open on Friday. He's seen the negativity on social media and in the golf world at large. And he decided to make amends.

Following his first round Friday at Riviera Country Club, Kuchar issued a statement in which he apologized and said he would be making full payment of the amount a fill-in caddie requested after the veteran golfer paid him just $5,000 following his victory in November at the Mayakoba Classic.

David Giral Ortiz, who worked for Kuchar during the tournament in Mexico, had requested a total of $50,000; Kuchar earned $1,296,000 for the victory and caddies are typically paid a percentage.

Bullshit by Kuchar. His image is the good guy. Why stiff a guy with a bullshit 1k adder when you just won 1.3m. Fuck me, you're worth 100M, give the guy 100k and change his life and his kid's lives. You probably get an extra $10M in endorsements for that 100k investment.

He's a fucking idiot.  And his 'apology' came after his agent admit his sponsors started to question wtf his deal was.  Not that I follow his dumbass that closely but I hope he chokes every chance he gets.  You won 1.3M with this dude on your bag and you give 5k?   That's like tipping 75 cents after a steak dinner and good wine for you and the family.

Shocker: Now Kuchar has felt the pressure from his sponsors and social media and decides to pay the $50,000. If only he wasn't so short-sighted and just paid him $30,000 upfront... Instead his Aww-Shucks Golly-Gee reputation has been a bit tarnished

Another bad thing is it makes Skechers look cheaper too....

Hadn’t heard of the Kucher story until today. He had a contract with the guy to pay - at the most -$4K. Gave him $5K (so a 25% “tip” I guess). Not really sure what to think... yeah he made 1.2 million, but they had an agreement on payment. He’s a small-time caddy so it’s not a stretch to assume Kucher didn’t rely on him for much more than carrying his bag... but again, he did make over a million ...

Kinda feel like the caddy took advantage of the situation, but it certainly worked (at least in the short term). I guess I just have a problem with people going back on their agreements after they can Monday-morning-quarterback them

Jordan looking shaky.

This is good stuff. And fun. It’s like the announcers don’t give AF. They’re cracking me up.

Phil’s eagle on 10 was bad ass.

So much of Jordan's putting issues are mental.  Heard at a recent interview with his Caddie, Michael Greller said he wishes Jordan would not spend so much time on his use of the greens book during tournaments.  Said Jordan is a better feel putter when he trusts it.

Creativity and feel are essential to putt well at Augusta.  One of the reasons why Spieth tends to putt much better than others at the Masters....

Tiger has five 3's in a row..... on first 5 holes Rd 3

Birdie-Eagle-Birdie-Birdie-Par

Missed 33 footer for birdie on the 6th hole. Since it was a Par 4, Tiger just wrote his first 4 on his 3rd Round score card.    3-3-3-3-3-4

Birdie-Eagle-Birdie-Birdie-Par-Par

Birdie putt attempt for Tiger on 7th hole of his third round..... looks like 22-25 feet

Weak effort..... lost pace.
