  1. When the chief voices on your side are proud lords of disinformation and falsehood.....it's a bad fucking look. But I'll agree that curating your consumption to only consume information from EITHER far end of the spectrum is a pathway to drooling idiocy. If everything you consume is "hairyarmpittedhippychick101" and "Kingofantifa" or some shit, yeah, you're probably setting yourself up to be a deluded sucker. But come on, Cheong and Ngo are hot garbage of the highest order, and you know it.
  2. Lots of shit is 1) within your right to do, but 2) dumb as all fuck. It is your right to eat your own shit. The government can't raid your house and stop you from eating a WhatTheBuck turd club sandwich. But goddamn, would that be a terrible decision on your part.
  3. And.....we've pinpointed the issue. If what shows up in your feed is a steady diet of Cheong and Ngo....you've self-curated a stream of runny bullshit. It's as if you were some islamofascist whose feed is curated to show only bad acts by Israelis and jews, and you post a firehose of those with the excuse of "it's just what shows up on my feed." When you place an order at a restaurant for "plate after plate of runny shit," and then sling said runny shit, it's not an excuse to say "hey, I'm just slinging what the restaurant brought me." No. You are slinging WHAT YOU ORDERED.
  4. Even with that picture link....you're going to have to be more specific. Because we've got a real "dumbest motherfucker on the planet" olympiad going on in the Trump orbit.
  5. I would ask them what the policies are. Republicans have no policy other than fascism and owning the libs. Not true. They have some policy positions. They are just breathtakingly stupid and cruel. Just this week, I drove by more than one billboard put up by actual local Republican parties saying "CLOSE THE BORDER!" Close the border. The border, over which THREE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS IN TRADE A YEAR CROSSES (over 5 million truck crossings and over 1 million rail cars), accounting for almost 37% of all US trade with Mexico. Mexico is the largest trading partner of both the US and Texas, and they want to....shut that down. These are stupid, stupid, not serious, very, very dumb people and policies. They literally propose an action that would cripple both the Texas and US economy. It's among the dumbest ideas I've ever heard, and I've watched a Greg Davis offensive game plan unfold. And don't forget their other policies, like imprisoning women for getting an abortion, even if they do so in a state where it's legal. How about the policy of supporting authoritarian despots who repeatedly launch attacks on American assets (including infrastructure right here in Texas) and those of our allies? The GQP loves them some Russia, so how about that policy? Your Trump friends and family are shitty people with shitty brains and shitty ideas who support shitty things. You should spend your time convincing them that the most important Trump policy they should follow is chugging antifreeze.
  6. Blah blah blah, Candy Loving. That's what I got out of it.
  7. Yeah, but think about the opportunities for the new NRA-branded firearms for shooting dogs.
  8. You need to read up on dispensationalism, and how much of an influence that is in modern evangelical christianity (think "bible churches," not mainline churches). And the numbers ain't small. A 2004 poll found that 55% of Christians believe that Christians will be taken up in "The Rapture" (a key element in this warped eschatological belief). A 2022 poll found that 39% of ALL americans believed we are living in "The end times." You also probably don't know any/many people who fly MAGA flags and shit....but there are tens of millions of them. And they have real sway.
  9. Yep. I have an old law school classmate who lives in midtown Manhattan. We connected for brunch when we were visiting NYC last year (he's a gay dude, so of course brunch was the meet-up of choice). But when we were talking about the last few years and what's gone on, when he got to discussing COVID...he really paused, and choked up talking about how many people they knew who died. It was some traumatic shit. And I was advising people, in real-time, about resources, alternatives, and decisions as to how to handle the local fallout/crisis it was creating (things like "what are the regulations on storing bodies," and shit like that). I was talking to some people who were seeing some shit and were shaken as hell. And of course the healthcare workers many of us knew at the time -- they had PTSD like motherfuckers. Tell those folks "it was just the flu, it was all overblown," and you could and should get punched in the fucking face.
  10. We have a watch, and a warning. The watch would be good for you.
  11. Here I was assuming you were either a lawyer or an engineer. Now I know, you're the BD guy I'm a lawyer. But I pretend to be an engineer/hydrologist to impress chicks.
  12. Yep. There is no magic bullet. Everything has cost, every path involves some water loss. ASR WILL be a part of the overall solution, but when you number-crunch for the volumes we're going to need....it just can't be a huge percentage of that solution. More reservoirs. More expensive transportation infrastructure (big pipes and pumps). More conservation. More re-use projects. And.....climate change is still going to assfuck us.
  13. Adverse reactions happen. That doesn't mean that a treatment is bad. But that's EXACTLY what the anti-vax crowd does: find the adverse reaction, and use the EXISTENCE of adverse reactions as "proof" that vaccines are poison. Which is insanity and yes, perfectly analogous to the argument that "I saw that a guy died when his car went into a lake and his seatbelt trapped him in there and he drowned. Seatbelts are killers, so I won't wear one".....as they ignore the fact that for every person who died because of their seatbelt, hundreds LIVED because of their seatbelt. Anti-vaxxers are almost always terrible at math.
  14. ASR (aquifer storage and recovery) is a thing, and it's increasingly being explored as a supply option. But, like all new options....it has both cost and logistical hurdles.
  15. I mean....she had MULTIPLE VERSIONS of "the Karen." Is anyone actually surprised?
  16. She knew. She’s lying. It’s their most sacred sacrament - shameless lying.
  17. I’m gonna take an eleven million pound vehicle into this soft sand, what could go wrong? The only thing dumber than the Cybertruck is the people who buy them.
  18. Bookmark this, people. For real. Bookmark it. We long ago blew past surreal absurdity.
  19. We were at a cabin by canyon lake, thick cedar and oak around us, identified a crapload of singing birds by song. Carolina wren Goldfinch Tufted titmouse Cardinals Golden cheeked warbler (!) White eyed vireo Painted bunting Also saw hummingbirds, but couldn’t ID exact species. And of course mourning and white wing dove. Birds were singing and active all day, and there were a lot of em.
  20. It doesn’t matter whether Republican voters believe the lies. She wins either way. They either 1) believe the lies, or 2) love the lies for what they are, because they’re owning tha libz. Republican politicians lie because lying to their base is a win-win.
