  1. Hopefully our largest war material delivering planes are leaving the tarmac as the inauguration starts, delivering the last missiles and artillery shells and howitzers and drones to Ukraine. “Wait! Those were not all drawdown stuff? Shoot. My bad…”
  2. Historically, I always root against the Irish. I have a soft spot in my heart for Ohio State. This general feeling is complicated by the fact that I really, really like the Notre Dame coach, and I really, really detest Day.
  3. The minute you have a constitutional convention - or an attempt to amend the constitution - every red state wacko is going to insist on constitutional protections against trans people and climate change and bird killing windmills, and abortion…and doing away with that whole ‘immigrants get to go to our country and their children be born as citizens’ stuff. Also, Trump gets on Mount Rushmore and Jesus is Lord over the USA. And while those things will not happen because 2/3 of the country will not allow it, that does not mean that 2/3 of the country will agree to all of the reasonable protections against the dumb Fuckery we are experiencing will occur. Because, you know a significant amount of the American voting population and their elected officials are all for dumb Fuckery.
  4. I have a 20 year term policy that ended about two years ago. I started looking for replacement term insurance as a cancer survivor, and was told all the blah blah blah about increased premiums, reduced benefits, an add-on “you had cancer once” penalty etc. I tend to wander through PubMed from time to time, looking at the latest stuff on colon cancer, especially return of colon cancer, and I see that someone who is my sex and age who has never had cancer would have a 3% chance of contracting it in their lifetime. I found a couple of long term studies that showed a breakdown of colon cancer returning by a lot of categories. On the age and sex category, the chance of that same person my age and sex having colon cancer again is between 1 and 2%. So even though the underwriting shows less of a risk for me than if I had never had cancer, insurance company gonna charge me with a cancer premium penalty multiplier that is untethered from medical and actuarial evidence. Capitalism and all. But returning to the point I was trying to make, the fact that I now pound vitamin C, D and E, watch my diet and exercise more -and get numerous bloodwork and scans and colonoscopies - undoubtedly makes the reoccurrence (or at least a fatal reoccurrence) less likely then some dude my age walking down the street who never had cancer. That and medical marijuana are a couple good things that came from me getting cancer I guess. And maybe one other. My ex-wife is rumored to have said about my cancer diagnosis: “Ubet always infuriated me with his risktaking and never worrying about anything…this is only gonna make that worse”. She was right.
  5. here is a real world example. My late father was a fine man and most of his life he followed the rule of law in all practical circumstances. While defending the town of St Vith during the battle of the bulge the Germans brought in large number of eastern front troops for the attack. On the eastern front there was no such thing as the Geneva convention or basic humanity being followed. You killed citizens, you executed prisoners, and that is how they rolled. Those SS troops engaged in what’s called the Malmedy Massacre, where captured US troops were machine gunned after being put in an open field. The SS shot the bodies with pistols to be sure they were dead, and SS troops who drove by in trucks would shoot them as well. So how did my decent father and his comrades respond to this? According to my dad, he said, “For a time after that we did not take SS prisoners. They were the ones who changed the rules - so we adopted the same rules…” Breaking the rules is always enjoyable and efficient - until you are no longer the ones breaking the rules. An often unrecognized reason not to violate the rule of law is because you cannot guarantee that you will be top dog forever, and once the rules are changed, they can be turned on you.
  6. I think that what I thought was a dude on the far right is actually one of their girlfriends. Or they’re strangers into double dick threesomes who met on HockeyBigunsMatch.com - but I am not here to judge or kink shame.
  7. The Incel line, by Armani…
  8. How do you say “spinner” in Ukrainian?
  9. When your brain worm leaves through the hole, that is always a time to rejoice. Congrats RD! That is great news about the scan. unless a nest of worms have traveled to your balls
  10. As a doctor myself, I highly recommend ball leeches. On you, I mean.
  11. charity talk not going away…. Can anyone tell me what the wind status is in the Encino area? Is it going east or going west?
  12. “You’re thinking of the place all wrong, as if I have the rubles here at the bank in a safe. The money’s not here. Your money’s in Joe Stalin’s house… and a hundred others. You’re lending them the money to build and then they’re going to pay it back to you the best they can at the end of the special operation.”
  13. I bought my home about 35 years ago, and at the time the current owner had blown cellulose insulation in my attic that was as high as the framing, but now has compressed to about half the height. it has been suggested that I buy bags of cellulose and add to the top of the current insulation until it reaches the top of the framing, put unfazed corning blanket insulation crosswise over that. Someone else suggested, renting the giant vacuum and sucking out the old cellulose and relaying the pink blankets between the frames as if it were a new installation. As I have a case of the olds, I will not be living there more than 10 years, so I am looking to do something that will increase the resale value - or at least not be seen as a deficit by a potential buyer - and yet not cost me a fortune as I won’t be living that long. I would appreciate any advice from people who are in that business. My son just moved in for various financial reasons, and so I intend to use him as slave labor for as much as this as possible - and I had the notion that the winter was the perfect time to mess with this
  14. yeah, I’m hoping that the Sherman Oaks and Encino areas get winds from the east or northeast.
  15. I’m assuming you’re meaning the banging, not the deliberation…
  16. Can anyone verify that the Santa Ana wins today are blowing west rather than east? I’ll hang up and listen. Or fap. Or both.
  17. “…. from Hell‘s heart I pump at Thee!”
  18. And if it snows that stretch down south won’t ever stand the strain
  19. yeah, my relative is not going to Amazon/MacGyver this - or be home when it goes on. For a couple grand you can get one of the EcoFlow battery sources to power it, and I’m sure there are pumps with various flavors of output that could work. They have crushed white rock that is layered over the top of a tar substance on their roof. They are already planning to remove the rock, put down some sort of fire retardant surface over the existing roof and then lay another layer of rock on top of that. if the Santa Ana winds don’t blow east today that is. There are a couple thousand feet from the evacuation zone. They are fortunate enough to have a paid off seven figure home, so the cost of the system would not be a problem if it works. Their thinking is that even if it doesn’t 100% protect them, it will be a great selling point for the next purchaser, as it is a multiple level home on a hill and they are getting older and are looking for a one level home in the next five years or so. They have a first world problem for sure, and have been spared the tragedies so many of their neighbors and friends have suffered. They are currently making it rain $$$$ on the local SPCA.
  20. My relative in Van Nuys has a nice size pool, and is looking into purchasing a system where water is pumped from the 20,000 gallon pool onto the house and the largest trees nearest the house. I assume if you can get enough volume of water on an area then the incredibly fast speed of the fire, consuming and moving on, can wind up being your friend as it passes by.
