Not sure what I'll do when I add a turntable.  I typically don't want the 'table on the same surface as speakers.  Might try it just see if there's an issue, and buy stands if there is a problem with the turntable being affected by vibrations from the speakers.

i've had good results using an isolation platform for the turntable if it has to be placed on the same surface as the speakers.

How about a turrrrrrrible pic snapped when I took a quick break after hooking the speakers up?

Took a while for the receiver to arrive.  Cheap-ass Sony DVD/CD player is what I'm currently using to play CDs.  All in all, there's plenty of juice for this small room.

After this pic was taken, I found an old Paradigm sub in a box in the garage, so I'm gonna hook that up next once I find the damn cable.  It should help with the lows that the KEFs just can't reach.

beauties. very nice. I would get stands myself just to widen the soundstage a bit anyway (though i may be totally misreading the size of the room). though if you upgraded your isolation pad game just a little bit, putting the turntable on top would not be an issue at all. particularly if you connect a sub that isn't on the table and let it handle everything below 80hz.

Am I reading right that those ATC monitors are $10k/pair?

depends. are you my wife or insurance carrier? i think you have to tell me if you are.

on that note, i love them so much. i would reflexively kill every single person in austin except my wife and kids to protect them and ensure their happiness (the monitors).

on the topic of hi-fi, much like everything else in this world, it is all headed towards being one fucking company.

samsung, who owns harman, purchased sound united for $350 million. sound united is marantz, bowers & wilkins, denon, polk, definitive. now those will be under the samsung's roof with jbl, akg, arcam, revel, mark levinson.

bose bought mcintosh just a few months back as well.

oh well.

Well that fucking sucks. I guess whenever my Marantz finally needs replacement I’ll have to look elsewhere. Maybe I’ll do separates then instead of AVR.

While we're talking about speakers, I wish I'd gotten a picture of these bad-boys after I got the woofer refoamed and everything re-capped.
