That's what scares the hell out of me. You don't fix all those issues in 6 days. gaggy is pretty equal to pig on offense and their defense ranks higher than Texas. The only hope is they have a let down playing at DKR.

Their defense “ranks higher than Texas” because they’ve played a complete shit schedule.

Their defense is a mixed bag. They give up explosives but are great on 3rd down.

1. They can struggle vs the run. Give up explosives here. It is probably not pertinent, since Texas struggles to run the ball and is on of the least explosive rushing games in the country. Moveable object against the resistible force

2. They will give up explosives in the pass game. This is where Texas can make this a game

3. They are 2nd in the country in sacks. Texas cannot protect the QB. This is the Longhorn nightmare, especially if Sark is hyper-focused on #2. If he has a game plan like Florida where Arch's average depth of target approaches 20 yards, this could be a 6+ sack game for A&M.

Texas needs to stay out of obvious pass situations where Elko can send his exotic blitzes vs an OL that reads stunts and blitzes about as well as Stevie Wonder.

Uninformed? Not addressing huge issues on your film breakdown is dishonest in my book and that's what Paul does. For example, Utep, Manning has what imo was his worst game of the season. 11-25 114yards and 1TD 1 INT. They breeze over the negative play in convo and showed one positive passing play. The rest of the time they spent talking about the running game(we ran for 226) and defense(we gave up 256 total). People wanna hear you explain the pressing issues when there are some. That's why IT has 20k subscribers vs Bobby's 236k. Shit, even 3rd and Longhorn has 50k. This is fucking Texas. You throw a rock in any direction and you will hit a guy who played enough football to call out coverages and understand offensive schemes. We tune in to your channel to hear you talk in detail about what we remember seeing during the game. If you cannot do that we won't watch. I had a lot of respect for Paul's writeups during the BC days, but their film studies leave a lot to be desired. Again, I know for a fact that Sark slaps people on the hand for negative press as I have seen his text messages with my own eyes. You can believe what you want to though.

It’s not the film breakdown show, but on his Everyone Gets a Trophy podcast discussing the UTEP game they talked about how bad Arch was as the focus of the show.

Their strengths line up with our weaknesses. I’m glad this game is at home

Does Spence ever play off the ball? Moore looks like crap doing it.

I'd rather see Moore playing EDGE again than missing tackles on RPOs and run fills.

Same. I don’t see why Spence hasn’t seen the field more.

That is another issue. Texas does a lot of contain rushes vs mobile guys and even some immobile ones (see Florida game). YOu need guys to stay in their lane, though I may just tell Colin do his thing. He is one of those players that can get away with breaking rules.

Got to mix it up. I think Reed is a 1 read QB. If you give him his 1st read and clean pictures, he will throw for 300+

I just wanna highlight both these posts for their accuracy. Reed was a 1 read QB. Anytime we took away his first he was panicky in the pocket. Simmons caused a lot of havoc behind the los doing whatever the hell he felt like. For the most part we stayed disciplined in our rush lanes, although we lost track of Reed at the second level. Nice call Codaxx!

Also turned out to be true! Watching them against a team from the top half of the SEC was eye-opening. They are pretty meh, much like last year.

Kind of like OU, their D would get "mindless penetration" into the backfield that Tre could punish.  I think the general rap on the OU D is that burnt vegetables coaches them that way, while A&M's might be as a result of playing mostly shitty offenses.

The funny thing is A&M and OU are the only teams the Texas can run on. Both employ a lot of movement up front. Texas hit a bunch of runs where A&M stunted a guy out of the play-side gap. It’s why A&M gives up explosive runs. They are not always sound. Both teams rely on playing aggressive to get the TFL, so they can get to 3rd and long and their blitz packages. They end up creating creases for an OL that cannot line up and win on the LOS

How did the secondary look good? lol was it because or Marcel “one” Reed or was their new starters.

I don’t remember seeing a lot of Kobe black through out the year but could be wrong.

Yep, they did the same thing last year. Weird they still haven't figured out that's the wrong approach for a back like Wisner.

It’s an unnecessary risk vs poor run blocking team.

I think as a whole they were locked in and didn’t bust a lot of coverages. Pressure from the DL helped as well.

His play on the 3rd and 1 stop was incredible.

It's very pleasing to see the way PK shows up against Ohio State (twice), Georgia (once and a half), Oklahoma (3/4) and A&M (twice).

Dude gets his guys ready for big games.

Apparently Kade Phillips went out in the first quarter and didn’t return. That’s probably what opened the door to Kobe Black playing so much and he made the best of his opportunity.

I've been pretty critical of PK lately, but he certainly had an excellent strategy to slow up one of the best offenses in the country. That was the gaggies 2nd lowest pt total of the season and #1 was only 1 pt less. Great job PK.

We played closer to the LOS.   The cushion stuff was pretty noticeable only once or twice and aggies moronically ran a slow developing run so it didn't matter.

Teams figured out how to exploit us in our base Cover 3/1 look. Week after week they were attacking specific people. Taafe was one of those. Taafe is best when he can roam and help. He is not a coverage guy, and teams were finding a way to exploit that. So we ran a lot of two high against aggy and even some quarters. Taafe was back to being free and you see the result. 2/man lets you walk up and be aggressive. What's cool to see is a young guy like 6 thinking outside the box. On his pick he had no responsibility so he jumped the route next to him. That's stuff Georgia does. Good shit!

Rewatching the game and I find it hilarious that the Aggies offensive kryptonite seems to be guys with the athletic build of Big Bird on our defense. Broughton and Burke last year and then Burke again this year. I’m going to miss his goody lookin ass wreak havoc against opposing offenses. Anyway, here’s a couple all-22 clips from the game I found. SIAP.

Is that what Vandy and MSU did?

Did you see something wrong with what I said?

You said week after week.  It’s curious since he missed MSU and Vandy.

The plays from Arkansas that were discussed was one in which it was not his guy.  The other was him being overly aggressive.  Arkansas attacked more a portion of the field or perhaps a position group.

Georgia.  Their pass game was bit overblown with regards to the secondary.  In the 4th, they were attacking situationally and not so much our coverage.  The big question was the Taaffe/Guilbeau TD pass.  Their biggest pass plays were the blown coverage, the blitz/man versus McDonald, a 3rd down blitz/man versus Manny then an early zone coverage to the intermediate left.

Back to Kentucky, they hit the short edges pretty consistently, but it was lots of dink and dunk.

From my seat, it was a different approach each week with more based on what worked best for them.

Dude. Re-read what I said. "Week after week they were attacking specific people. Taafe was one of those."

I said he was ONE of those being targeted. They were also hunting whoever was opposite of Manny. We were losing our eyes and busting coverages. Man takes that away.

At least 7 defensive players that have starts during 2025 season won't be playing in the Citrus Bowl:

  • Anthony Hill
  • LeFau
  • Taaffe
  • T.Moore
  • Manny Muhammad
  • Burke
  • Guilbeau

Have fun PK 🤘

Kinda reading between the lines either:

  • Texas said no gty on starting, or
  • LeFau's NIL offer not enough

Except for ohio state and aggy games, LeFau may have not graded out that well.  Horns likely looking to upgrade at LB thru portal, plus Texas added a stud freshman LB to the roster in 2026 class.

Sounds like BYU came to him with a number that we wouldn't match, along with guaranteed starter reps that we wouldn't match. It's a shame, but I get it. That room has some serious young talent and Lefau had some rough spots this season.

He seemed to spend more than a few plays completely out of position.  Good luck to him, he can be a stud in the b12.

No, I want to take one of their starters and kneecap them quid pro quo.

I actually do kinda like the idea of establishing a reputation of coming after schools who poach one of ours. At least drive the price up on a few of their guys. Do it consistently and you may eventually make schools think twice about how much they offer UT guys.
