1-7 against top 5 teams. His offense averaged 17.6 points in those games. And after all that, he just got completely outclassed again in his latest attempt to turn it around. He's not a bad coach, but he's clearly not an elite coach. He's got elite support around him.

Does he?

We are turning into Aggie. Like legit. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Not really. Pretty much any HC would love the opportunity to coach at Texas. Not true for aggie.

Texas desirability is not the issue, it has historically been the selection process.

Which, as we all know, isn't going to change.

This has been a shit 72 hours. We got a former player shot and hopefully doing better today. We got all this shit being said about sports media this past month about sark and the program and hinting at behind the scenes shit. We just got our ass whipped by Georgia. Sark himself said years back if he was in year 4-5 at Texas he’d be really concerned. We got a lot on our angst man. Damn,

Any assessment of Sark, like any coach, needs to go beyond 1 year. That's why I am confused. The previous two years, the team was physical, disciplined enough, and guys were improving leaps and pounds on an individual basis. This year it all seems to be gone. Why is that and can Sark revert things back to before? Not that those teams were perfect but you certainly wouldn't trade Sark for anyone else at that point.

Generally you are correct.    I think we’d be more forgiving if the product on the field was winning and losing the same way as far as scores, but we didn’t see all the other stuff such as the undisciplined play, the lack of prep, and just dumb game situation play calling.    It could easily be written off and assigned to youth and inexperience at least early in the season and we would’ve expected to see progress by now.   In this scenario we wouldn’t have close OT wins to MSU and UK and we certainly would’ve not lost to Florida.  And the UGA game might have been a loss, but not the cluster fark it ended in.

We are literally a Niblett away from having 5 losses.

Not sure I get the hard on some of you have for Kiffin. I suspect by year 3 yall would be at the gate with the pitchforks again. But I get that it’s much easier to be a fan of a coach when you aren’t invested in their product from week to week. But Kiffin has never won anything and I doubt he ever will.

I see Kiffin as a lateral move.  The main upside is that he would go full Mike Leach on aggy.

Why would he commit?

He’s playing poker with two other people - and every time one raises, the other one pays Kiffin‘s call - and then they raise.

That’s a good point.  I mean he could very well be playing this out too just in case something went down in Austin.    I mean he’s probably not the only established HC or an aspiring one who is maybe going to wait it out except Franklin who is going to Virginia Tech because of the NFL rumor from a month ago.

One thing we’ve got to remember is CDC plays his cards close to his vest.  When we got Schloss from the aggys, no one saw that coming.  Same to some extent with Miller and basketball.

This statement is completely nonsensical. You say that if we were a disciplined team Sark would be forgiven for the current record. But then also if we were a disciplined team, we'd have a better record.

It's really pretty common knowledge that CDC wanted Schlossnagle as soon as he possibly could. How many times does it have to be told about their relationship at TCU. He went as far as to have him sign a contract while the season was still going on and before Pierce was even fired.

He tried to get Miller when Beard was fired, but the Terry situation prevented that from happening.

I'll take your word for it. I have no idea if that's actually true.

Well past Sark in a presser that if future sark had 3 losses in year 4/5 he’d be concerned. So past Sark ain’t jiving with present sark. So we have that. Whatever that is.

Present Sark also had 2023 Sark and 2024 Sark. That matters to present Sark and it's why we're getting future Sark unless the NFL gets future Sark.

Wait. Does the AD at Texas make the decision with regard to the head football coach or nah?

This isn't unique to Texas. No AD at any blue blood or near-blue blood program does.

This is true.  I should've said more so CDC knows way ahead of everyone else even when a coaching change is  not even on the radar who he wants.  It's just waiting for it to get on the radar.    He definitely has some names for the football job on speed dial.

Or future sark was sent back in time to get present sark fired and kill John Connor or Lane Kiffin.

This is correct. No matter how much weight he has in hiring and firing the football HC or with in the decisions he IS informed about what’s going on behind the scenes, more so than any of us. He isn’t out of that loop at all. Period.

If youth and inexperience was the only issue, we'd be more forgiving for the results and record to date if they were the same.   But obviously its not the only issue.

Arch was our best player in two of the losses.

And that is why the bulk of the media articles since our beatdown by Georgia have put the onus on Sark. They see Arch ain’t the problem.

Yeah, hiring a baseball or basketball coach is a lot easier than pulling "whomever we want" out of some place in football with a lot less teams and other people also having money. So I'll ask you again, who exactly do you think we can pull? Freeman at Notre Dame? Kiffin? DeBoer? Cignitetti? There aren't just a ton of no-brainer hires. It's all going to be rolling the dice if Sark is out.

Bold are 50/50 or better that they would be interested.

Freeman- Would kill it but his only year living south of ohio was 2009 when he played with the Texans. tOSU would always be a threat if Day left for the NFL.

Kiffin- He has one move left in his career. LSU is dysfunctional and Florida is a crapshoot on whether they have it together or not. He could be pulled yes.

DeBoer- Bama fans would be ok with this if he does not win the SEC or a championship this year. Allegedly he looked at Penn State, if true then yes he could leave for Texas.

Cignetti- Not a culture fit here. He thrives being the odd duck and his new buyout and age would be a non starter.

Riley- USC is a dumpster fire all around. They hired Riley and Musselman assuming it would work out without the back end support. He is still elite and needs a better program. His parents are also Texas Grads.

Arch played "well" against UGA.  Not so much against Florida and OSU.

Did you watch the Florida game?

Ignoring that the claim was “average” qb play and we are 9-1, Arch was the only offense we had at all.

He's talking about Florida. I was kidding.

16/29 for 263, 2 TD and no INT is decent. I guess it's average.

We had 341 yards of total offense and Arch accounted for 300 of them. QB play is not the problem. The guy in charge is.

Be cool if he could fix it, not sure he can since it’s all the same problems we’ve had since year 1.

Lane Kiffin is gonna finish 11-1 starting his backup QB that played at Ferris State last year. His talent composition has been around number 20 for the last 3 years and hes won 10+ games each year including smacking Georgia around last year.

You say obtuse, I say I can't do fuck all about the head coaching position at Texas so I might as well have fun with super fans on the internet.

Nicole gets it.

Penalties, run game, top. This is the exact same discussion we all had in years 1,2,3, and 4. But maybe next year he will fix it.

Freeman-  Would be an energy shot for sure.  We keep our recruiting class intact or most of it.   Transfer Portal would be gold mine for some pick ups

Kiffin-        Would do take the NIL to a new level and use it correctly

De Boer-    He'd grow in to fit Texas culturally meaning he'd embrace it much like a Matt Rhule did as an outsider to the state

Cignetti-    See Brian Kelly.   He could never be successful in the part of the nation that is in the SEC print.  Big Ten and ACC located in the Midwest and Northeast?  Yes

Riley-      Interesting take.  I'd never envision him on the  sidelines in Austin other than a visiting coach.   I'd have to think about this one a little more

Lincoln Riley is the biggest pussy coach to ever exist. If he were ever courted to seriously take over in Austin, the fans should do more than throw shit on the field. They should throw shit at Belmont.

No clue how Kiffin would do here. That guy has all sorts of skeletons in his closet. Maybe he has actually grown up, seems like he has. But he was an epic dirtbag for years. It would all depend on our $$$ guys appetite for that potential stuff after Sark.
