Yep.  Caldwell might or might not improve the situation, but that would be for this season, only.  And I think this season is pretty much kaput.  We ain't winning shit with this OL, period.

So, might as well see if Arch can somehow improve or if we're really kinda fucked for next year, too.

That's where I'm at.  There are too many deficiences on this team to fix and we aren't going to significantly improve the offensive line or elevate the defense from "good" to "elite".  Arch has a ton of physical skills, not the least of which is his running ability, but his head is fucked up.

With only one more loss with MIGHT make the playoffs simply because the other conferences are top heavy but thin beyond that.  I'm skeptical even making that prediction, and I have zero hope at only one more loss.  It ain't our year.  Might as well see if Arch can be unfucked.

Losing 4 starters and not doing anything in the portal on the OL in the offseason was inexcusable. Being too proud to take portal guys on offense is fucking stupid in this era of cfb when youre at a place with resources like Texas. We pulled an entire DT depth chart and an all world punter out but did basically jackshit on offense. What. The. FUCK.

PK honestly evaluated his guys. Flood did not

I'm hanging onto the slim, and I mean slim, hope that Brooks and Robertson start figuring shit out, giving a more consistent Arch and a more flexible Sark a puncher's chance to rely on our salty D to make some noise in the playoffs, setting up an experienced team for '26.

Either that or I'll be working on my book-stack.

You play to win the next game because nothing after that is guaranteed. We could eat losses to Mississippi state and everyone else so Arch could show signs of life then he might just fucking transfer or suffer a late season injury which leaves us in the same boat with a far worse season. We will see some of our best players transfer if we continue to play like this.

Odds we see Caldwell this year are very high. Fact that Arch made it through 7 games this year is a minor miracle. Sam is the only other Qb I woudl even give a chance at startign 7 games behind this OL

These days players transfer because they get more money elsewhere, not so much playing time or winning.  It's a new day, and it is fucked up beyond repair.

We have a pretty favorable remaining schedule except for the road game at UGA, which we are not going to win with or without Arch. We get Vandy and Aggy at home. Arch has played reasonably well at home to let him play the rest of the season and see where the chips fall. If he continues to suck, then we get a new QB in the offseason. If he turns it around, then we are set for another year at QB.

This is stupid. Everyone has said Arch has clearly had issues.  I think you are just doing the typical fan nonsense. You want to believe the offense will be fine with a quick change at QB. That is whistling past the grave. Anyone with any ability to honestly look at the offense can see there are a myriad of issues. Funny thing is you have guys in here last 2 years saying the offense wasnt hitting its potential blaming the OL and WRs. Those same guys are saying it is all Arch now but cannot admit that the talent is drastically lower this year. Dont be that guy

What? Most people see the issues on offense are systemic. Makes a shit who is in there its been like this for years. Bijan Robinson was struggling behind this line for crying out loud. Truth be told most of the people who were saying it was Ewers are now blaming the appropriate issues. Weird how we couldn't identify those things last year.

I always loved the joke that Bijans YAC started 3 yards behind the LOS, because it’s a funny truth joke

There is not a reasonable person saying Arch is playing well. Stop with that strawman. You have been going after Arch on every thread like you have an agenda or something. It's weird and I don't get it. Yes, he is struggling. He also needs a lot of help from his coach and his teammates who are not playing well either.

It is surly, so yeah, you're probably right. But if you read any of these threads you'll pretty smart posters all but doing flips to excuse everything wrong with him and blame the OL and Sark and the WR's and give him a pass.

I do NOT think the offense will be "fine" with another QB.

I do think it's is POSSIBLE they could be better, even if slightly so, with a QB who could make the most basic throws that Arch is missing.

And I never said that about the OL last year.  I thought Ewers struggled with the deep ball(he does) and had happy feet, and took sacks.  I thought Arch would be better by improving in those areas.  He has...but he doesn't have the same accuracy as Ewers did, or the touch on the screens and short to middle passing that Ewers did.

Interesting how Sark has coached 2 QBs that every team in the country wanted into players that Texas fans wanted benched.

Yeah if fucking funny.  Could just be bad recruiting/evaluations (BTW OSU sorta gave up on Ewers too...so maybe it's not just that Sark couldn't' coach him up)

And I've clearly said I think Sark a problem...but I'm just not going to excuse Arch when he can't complete simple passes either like some will.

here is the odd thing about Manning. He makes incredible throws every game. Guy in face and he will rip a 20 yard throw to his 3rd option. Then he will be 5 minutes late on a 1 read throw or miss a gimme throw by 3 yards. I cannot understand him. Its the strangest thing I have ever seen. You could make a highlight tape of Manning this year and have people believe he is hte best Qb in the nation. You could make one and have people believe he is a back up on a 2A HS team.

Anyway, you're not going to catch every pass, dude. It's just not going to happen. Yes, they both dropped passes, but that was hardly the reason we went to OT against fucking Kentucky.

You can get upset all you want, but our WR's don't suck. Based on a single game you're boxing them in?

Wingo (4) and Endries (2) + Livingstone (3) make up 9/12 of Arch's TD's.

Both Wingo and Jagger have over 300+ yards receiving for the season so far. One game does not mean they "suck". Shit happens.

Wingo has dropped a few catchable balls over the season and he gives me lazy vibes personally. If the pass is not perfect he makes little effort to catch it. Endries rarely gets open and is a shitty blocker.

Were you not paying attention last year my brother? I've been on that. Thats why people were calling me the Ewers apologist. Its also why I dont want Arch out of there. But Sark isnt changing anytime soon, so Arch is going to have to learn how to operate inside Sark's system.

Most of this rests at the feet of Sark. His evaluations this offseason were garbage. He thought this OLine was good enough, he thought Endries was good enough, he thought the running game was good enough with our top guy coming off a season injury, and he thought Arch was good enough to overcome all this. This is on him and to a lesser degree Flood.

Yes. All the signs were there but folks were too busy chess bumping because we were connecting on deep balls. Archs flaws are the worst kind for a Sark offense.

he damn good in that game. I think this is all mental with Arch. Only thing I can come up with was the pressure of hearing how great he would be all summer screwed him up. That all fits when you watch him. You have a QB pressing in a much worse environment than last year.

I don't know how anyone could think it's anything but mental.  He played like garbage against Florida, played pretty well against OU, played like garbage against Kentucky.  Three games in a row and his best performance was against the best defense of the three.

I dont think Florida was garbage. You face 35 pressures and that many hits. I would say OSU, UTEP (by far the worst), and Kentucky. I think some of it is game plan. I think Sark had terrible game plans for Florida and Kentucky (they were eerily similar). Though we are not in the playoffs last 2 years with this OL. It is 2 fold, Manning is in his head and he is in a much worse environment

It's complicated figuring out wether Arch or the OL or Sark's play calling are the main issue, but you have to take care of the obvious. Throwing balls into the ground on crucial 3rd down plays should be an ender. He should let Arch know if that happens in another game they have to try someone else. It won't fix everything, but it has to be done to even figure this out.

The "basic stuff" is so glaring because he has so few of these opportunities in each game.  We don't run enough plays, we haven't had any lucky "break one tackle" and house it plays.  We have no running game and one explosive run on the entire season.  I think he honestly relaxes during these throws while being under duress on all others and biffs it.

Arch's problems are 90% Sark

I’d argue arch’s problems are him 100% being dog shit. 3rd year guy can’t read a defense pre snap or post snap so he doesn’t know what to do or where hot read should be and check downs. Even with OL problems there are open checkdowns to hit quick.
