One thing that pisses me off, aside from lack of situational hitting, is scoring a crooked number and then us going back out and they score a run.

Reddick should have been sent home. Ain't gonna matter after Bregman hits a grand slam here.

Wasted chances on the road are a bad idea. Need Lance to have a few cleaner innings here.

Lance needs to throw a couple of strikes for those pitches to work.

Gattis has turned into a pretty good ball player recently.

That ball might be oblong

Gattis has a interesting story.  At one time he was the no. 1 prospect in the nation.  Had some drug issues and cleaned himself up.  Turning into a great ball player

Coming from Cabo, that is high praise indeed.

#rootedinoakland May be the worst slogan ever.

Maybe this is one of those vice versa movies where Altuve and Gattis switched places. There is hilarity in their body differences. Someone get Judge Reinhold on the phone.

damn, should have been a double play

Would have been a great play.  He had to go pretty far up the middle to get a glove on it.

The Astros bullpen is a fucking advertisement for heartburn medicine.

Well that was a sack of fuck when Lance was cruising finally.

At some point it’s not good enough to say it’s just bad luck.

Tuned in to 97.5 and heard strike out at the knee. Astros win

I'd think we were losing this game if I went by this thread alone.

It’s mind-bottling how negative folks are.  Team is on pace to beat last year’s regular season win total.

No doubt, buncha whiny redasses last night. I was watching the game in bed and checked in to surly and thought they were watching a different game because the one I watched last night had the Stros firmly in command the whole time. Aside from that pesky bases loaded threat in the 8th, the game was never really close. Very strong performance by LMJ and the bats did some damage early. Gattis is so freakin hot right now.

Giles was on his game, stayed on top of that slider and it was biting hard. That fastball on the outside black to end it was a beauty.

I think he's found the feel for his slider.  Seems to be using it more often in his recent appearances and is getting more swinging strikes as a result.

5-0 halfway done with the longest roadie of the year (10 games).  gotta make some hay while the sun is shining, and it's bright until july 20th or possibly longer.

Signed 6 -

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have signed six players who were selected in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Those players include shortstop Jeremy Peña (3rd round), right-handed pitcher Cody Deason (5th round) and right-handed pitcher Austin Hansen (8th round), who were all selected within the top 10 rounds of the 2018 draft. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The official announcement was made by Astros Assistant General Manager of Player Acquisition Mike Elias.

Peña, 20, was the Astros highest selection to sign today, as he was taken with the 102nd overall pick in the third round of the draft. A natural shortstop, Peña started every game during his three-year collegiate career at the University of Maine. In his junior season of 2018, Peña hit .311 (66x212) with 19 extra-base hits and a .865 OPS. Peña is the son of Gerónimo Peña, who played parts of seven Major League seasons with St. Louis (1990-95) and Cleveland (1996).

Deason, 22, posted a 6-5 record and a 2.87 ERA (29ER/91IP) in 14 starts as the Friday night starter for the University of Arizona this season. He was a All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention selection in what was his junior year of 2018.

Hansen, 21, posted nine saves with a 3.29 ERA (14ER/38.1IP) in 34 appearances for the University of Oklahoma this season. He finished his season ranking ninth in the NCAA in appearances and was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Rounding out the Astros signings today were right-handed pitcher Mark Moclair (12th round), catcher Juan Paulino (27th round) and right-handed pitcher Layne Henderson (30th round).

These are the first six of the Astros 40 selections from the 2018 draft to sign with Houston.
