Negligent homicide after a sucker punch still seems pretty fucking bad. Lol

To clarify, it wasn’t a sucker punch in its purest form. The two had been messaging each other for a week or so challenging each other to a fight. The punch wasn’t from behind when he wasn’t looking. Just two guys jawing back and forth and the victim just off and clocked him when no one was expecting it.

Not familiar with this.  What was the time delay between the sucker punch and the stabbing? Negligent homicide seems like an odd outcome for a stabbing (not sure of Texas specific statute nuances).  Compromise verdict or did it seem to fit the facts?

I think it’s definitely an odd outcome. It was a pretty immediate reaction with the stab. However, video appeared to show that when the defendant fell to the ground, he had the knife out and ready really quick, like maybe already opened in his pocket.

ETA: I think it might have been a compromise verdict of some sort.

I've seen this debated, for no good reason, but I agree with this.  That's not what I would call a sucker punch.  A sucker punch is someone coming up from behind or the side and you never see it coming.  If you're facing someone, and especially if you are in a verbal altercation with them, you need to be aware and in possible fight mode, which means protect yourself at all times.

Apparently, the new was no self defense instruction allowed for the negligent homicide charge, which is the likely explanation for that guilty verdict, with NG on the other two options.

I just didn't know if that was what the hell is keeping this thread going - there's nothing going on here. For a little bit it was a bunch of racial undertones and stupid shit and there was things happening like this kid's dad trying to combat white supremacists.

I have tried to inject comedy here several times and get this onto a unique non ragebait stupid thread several times. I'm really leaning towards just deleting it.

You guys are having trouble imagining any different scenario than what you have in your head. In your scenario of events Metcalf told him to leave and then Anthony told him to touch him and see what happens. Then Metcalf "touches" him and Anthony just wildly stabs him with a knife. However, what if Anthony goes over to the tent to hang out with his friend, whoever EP is in the police report. The Metcalf boys return from the other tent that the dude on youtube said they were in to find this dude in their tent. Metcalf confronts the kid, barking orders at him. They go back and forth, and Metcalf slaps his phone out of his hands. Kids pull out their phones. Metcalf is shoving him or hitting him, all while Anthony is issuing warnings. I am sure Metcalf is saying a few things too, like making threats of his own right? Metcalf might have a couple teammates standing up behind him and then snatches this kid up one final time and Anthony stabs him.
Again, this isn't about digging in. This is what generally happens between teenage boys. All of us here were teenage boys and are pretty familiar with how things escalate in these situations. Regardless of how this case turns out from a legal standpoint, there is no way this was a quick 30 second ordeal and drew the eyes of 30 witnesses and their phones. A bunch of shit happened between the initial "get out" and the stabbing.

This is what I think the video will show us and if this is what it does, not guilty IMO. A 6’0+ 200+ lb soon to be college football athlete physically towering over a 5’9 130 lb kid and physically pushing him around? The optics of that aren’t going to in any way shape or form support this argument that Anthony was the aggressor. Austin was literally walking back from talking with his friend at another tent. So Austin can do be at other tents but Anthony can’t? Especially during a stoppage during a HS track meet?

Knife on school property? Give me a break, I bet you no less than 15% of boys in an average TX HS have some type of Swiss Army knife on them. Also, while I do think Austin’s father has been a pretty standup guy through this whole thing - I do find it incredibly interesting his criminal history hasn’t been even brought up just yet.

Again, unfortunate Austin is no longer with us but we’ll have video soon enough.

What does Metcalf seniors criminal history have to do with Austin?    Why do you find that interesting?

Both were football players and we have a decent idea of how big they are.  Why are you overexaggerating how big Austin was and how little Karmelo is?

Austin 6'0" 200 lbs

Austin 5'11" 162 lbs

Because if the roles were reversed, the black dad of the victims criminal rap sheet would be a talking point. I'm in no way, shape or form on the killer's side here (LOL at the swiss army knife equivalency attempted by blacknasty) but let's be honest here with each other.

The black dad is the dad of the accused murderer, and his suggested criminal rap sheet has not been a talking point.

So why would it be if he were the dad of the stabbing victim?  I reject your supposition.

Would it?  If Austin had stabbed Melo we would be asking about Melos dad’s record?  Meh

He isn’t 130 pounds and likely isn’t 5’9”. You’re relying on arrest affidavit info where they pulled his drivers license issued 12-23.5 months prior. Fake Carmelo was clearly the aggressor. Stop being a disingenuous, simple fuck.

Yeah, if NOBODY (in mainstream media) is even asking about the criminal background of the accused father, why is their supposition that we'd be asking about the victim's dad, were the victim black.

Jesus this thread keeps getting dumber by the page.

It’d have bearing if Metcalf were the murderer. I’d be much more interested in Anthony’s dad’s criminal history. Because he was clearly the aggressor. And murderer.

People coming out of the woodwork to poke holes in Metcalf based on racial bias disgust me.

Race baiting. Lots and lots of race baiting. Cause 100% of everything that happens between a white and black person is 100% always about race.

It’s a tactic, probably subconscious with people, on how to muddy up the picture of a very clear straight up murder case. It’s disgusting. Loyal to your own race to the point you’re literally defending murderers.

Can’t when he’s quoted. By far one of the dumbest features on this site - the ability to very clearly see someone you’re trying to avoid.

In the case of Surly I dont think its always ones own race, but either way, to this point there has been zero evidence, from any source that race played any factor. In fact, the father of the white victim told the Proud Boys or whatever group of racist, race baiting assholes to STFU.

But here we are... of course.

Again, Anthony unnecessarily escalated a situation that should've simply been a fight between teenage kids at a school event into a situation where somebody died at the hands of the other. Let school (or police) authorities deal with the aggressor if he was in the wrong (forgetting white vs black for a second).

Pretty sure if you have them on ignore, the responses are hidden. You can see that somebody you have on ignore posted something but you don't have to click to look at it. I have one former Sopranos cast member on "Ignore" and every now and then I'm interested enough to see what kind of mind-numbing stupidity he's posted but I have to actively click on it to read it.

If you have someone on ignore and someone responds that to that person, you see the comments of the person you have on ignore. Pretty sure that's what he was referring to in his post.

At any rate, it doesn't really matter -- especially on a Friday.

That's bizarre. On my end, the actual content of what BLKNSTY posted would be hidden on my current setup. I would see that he responded (or maybe it says a poster you've chosen to ignore has posted) but the actual content is hidden/spoilered. I don't have many on ignore -- otherwise, I'd go find an example on my end.
