I kinda feel for Dak this year. Cowboys are basically asking him to be perfect every week to have a chance to win.

Tony Romo enters the chat.

Just after the game last night an acquaintance called me to complain about Dak's play. He also said he was "impressed" by "how well" the Cowboys defense played to "keep them in the game." There are some fans that will blame Dak for everything.

That guy should not be allowed to discuss football ever again.

The cowboys need to lose enough games in order to be able to draft Caleb Downs.  They need help everywhere on defense, but a safety who doesn't suck complete ass would be neat.

Dak played well last night. Extremely well.

Dak has not always played this well over his career. Particularly in big moments

Both things can be true.

I will say Schott has the running game going decent.  Dak(ask with most QB's) needs that, and more than ever now, since his mobility is below average for an NFL QB now.  He's very good when he has that. Whether the O can drag this defense to anything more than 7 wins remains to be seen.

You want a good quarterback. I want a great one. A great QB does not throw the fucking ball away when the game is on the line and all he's risking is a fucking sack and an easy three. Ever heard of scrambling? Some do it quite successfully. In fact Dak's had his moments with it. You don't go thru your progressions and throw it away. Maybe a quick scramble gives you an extra second or two for a receiver to open up. Maybe you see a line to the end zone. Just don't make any mistakes, and worst case scenario, you get the three. That's what championship QBs do.

Dak can't be relied upon to make the big play when it really counts.

He LITERALLY did that MULTIPLE times in that game. And against the Eagles and against the Giants.

What you want is fucking perfection, or a guy who can somehow make the dysfunctional Cowboys team a SB winner the last decade.

NO QB is doing that. Not Brady. Not Mahome. Not prime Peyton Manning.  And damned sure no other QB in this league right now.

What I do believe is insert Dak on any SB contender the last decade and they'd still be just as good, if not better in some cases.

As good as Romo was in those 8-8 years, he didn't truly become completely at ease with running an offense until 2014. He said so himself, that that was the year where it all "slowed down" for him. He really felt he knew what was going on at all times.

Dak is there now.  No that doesn't mean he's the elite of elites, but he's better than "just a good QB"

What he does for this team, at the podium, with all the fucking circus he has to deal with in the most high profile and unforgiving position in all of sports should be applauded. Not trashed.

That's the rubs...he shows up FAR more than he doesn't and they lose for whatever reason.

The issue is that most people think the only BIG moments are ones he fails in and ignores the big moments he does show up, like they weren't big.

Dak is 2-5 in the playoffs. Never once losing to the team who went on to win the Super Bowl.  In those seven games he has averaged 280 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT.

Like it or not @Drew those 7 games are the only big moments that really matter.

I do chuckle with the STFU Drew comments here, but Dak played as close to great as you can last night, especially considering no Ceedee. You can't expect Turpin to do that every night though. I think GB may have been more than a Micah away from a championship

Probably why they have such similar stats and effectiveness throughout their careers.  In short, Jerry has wasted about 2 decades of winning the QB lottery - UDFA and 4th round.  Think about if we hadn't lucked into both?  And we were marching never will's like Drew Hensen and Quincy Carter out there along with over the hill guys like Drew Bledsoe or Randall Cunningham's of once great players who were just trying to hang around the league.  We'd probably be starting Joe Flacco right now.

Our issues right now (outside of the Jones virus) and that need to be addressed next year is that we have no game changers in the front 7 outside of Overshown. Hopefully he can be back to his old self by 26  I think this is still a 6-7 win team. Hopefully that puts us in play for someone like Ant Hill next year and a DE.  From what I saw it's was Donovan Ezeiruaku's best game. Hopefully that something you can build up on.

Only for football morons.  Football is a team game and while QBs are generally the most important positional group on the field, this isn't like a starting pitcher or hockey goalie situation where basically one great guy can carry teams.  Dak has had some good games and some poor games in the playoffs, but for the most part, it paints the picture of a good QB, who has played pretty well for the most part.  The Niners games maybe him being guilty of being below average and those were on the road against the #1 defense in the NFL one year and a top 3 in total defense in the NFL the other.  Hardly chumps.  In his losses, the defense averaged 31 points given up so basically he needed to score 32 points in his losses, that's higher than most #1 offenses in the regular season, so it also shows the level of defense being played particularly at home.

You know who else averaged about 280 yards and 2 TDs and 1 INT in their playoff games (Dak at 92 QRtg) -- Tom Brady (279 yds, 1.8 TDs, .8 Ints with a 90 QRtg).  Am I arguing that Dak Prescott is as good as Tom Brady?  Of course not, not even a little, but it's always interesting contextually to understand how much winning championships or playoff or even regular season is a team success metric.  Football is probably the most team oriented major sport in the playoffs and while Dak had a chance in SF, he generally has had his defense fail him in the playoffs.  This year looks no better...... Jerrah has failed this fanbase and organization year after year after -- mostly with Romo and Dak playing QB, but make no mistake (not calling you out, general comment) winning ships isn't on one guy, that's elementary analysis.

I thought once they settled down the o line did a helluva job last night against a strong Packer front 7.  They did that down 2 ol starters.
