He has a ways to go to be the best ever golfer from the state of Texas. Ben Hogan won 9 majors, including the career grand slam. Lee Trevino won 6. Bryon had 5.

yeah, that's a hell of a mount rushmore. him and trevino are close

Correct. And Trevino had the triple double which is exceedingly rare.

Gotterup trying to hold on to that extra $700k for solo 2nd, or whatever the math is.  It's a chunk.

And his playing partner says I’ll be taking these Huggies and second place.

Facts. Just hit fairways. And be magic within 170 yards and no 3 putts

Don’t fix what ain’t broke. I love Scottie is loyal to his caddie. If it’s working (ahem UT offense at many times throughout my life) keep doing it until you are forced to tweak things or change.

I believe Gotterup has more than doubled his career earnings in the past 8 days.

And it’s his bday too. Not bad for a sooner I guess.

Depends on the golfer but either the Masters or the US Open.

I get everyone gets all romantic about The Open and the Euros talk it up but those two are the two premier tournaments imo followed by the British and then the PGA and The Players round it out.

He transferred from Rutgers, from NJ originally. But, he lives in Edmund?!

I dunno. I want to hate on him, but it's not easy.

Yeah, for me it does depend on the golfer.  Have seen some winners that didn't necessarily deserve to be a winner of a "Major"

Yeah, length doesn't seem to be as paramount in "THE OPEN" --Trevino was so fun to watch there. Definitely favors players that can play the ball down better and handle wind and rain conditions.

Bryson's high ball flights seem to cause him to completely blowup at least 1 round every year at "THE OPEN "

worst round was -3.   Some guys didn’t get the one real low round, some guys had the one bad round.  Scottie got the first and avoided the second.

id say he left several on the course, but they all did. It was a scoring dream all week.

Scottie is such a good dude. Terminator on the course but just a good man, dad, hubby…some may feel he’s boring or not exciting. Proud he represents Texas. 🤘🏼

TLDR: his kid isn’t like “who is that?” If he can keep the balance of winning like this and happy home he’s the gold standard. To me.

Tiger’s was age 21-24. Scottie’s is 26-29.  Which is not to diminish the accomplishment but more to show 1) how early Tiger was dominant and 2) how Scottie’s window of peak play should be shorter, for anyone who wishes to extrapolate this to how many more majors he wins.

tiger jumped on the next generation golf ball during that run, way before everyone else. that gave him a huge advantage before others caught on

tiger was bigger than the sport. had he not been an idiot way too many times he would easily have 20+ majors. like spieth, he needed a better team around him. extreme daddy issues got him too
