Yes.  Still holding reservations at Bear and Butcher.  Waiting for more info on Surly tailgate before finalizing plans. (Either meet at B&B then go to tailgate or tailgate all day.)

Never been to an Tailgreeter event before. Is it worth the price?

Are you willing to accept the personal challenge of drinking over $130 worth of booze in an afternoon? If so then yes.

My group will do the tailgate although the "special Kentucky menu" concerns me. 😀 One can only eat so many Hot Browns. We will go to Bear and Butcher first, then start tailgating around 2p.  Gametime still TBD.  Either 7p or 7:45p.

The weather forecast looks perfect:

Yall are gonna have such a great time. I haven't been to Lexington in a few years but it's a really neat town. The area southwest of their basketball arena is mostly bars, restaurants, and old school homes. Woodford Reserve distillery is a great visit if you can make time for it. It's only 30 minutes away from Lexington. Even if the tours are booked up, the drive around the area is worth it. Horse farms, beautiful trees, rolling hills, just lovely country.

If you're an outdoor kinda person, it's looking like an awesome fall Kentucky weekend. I highly recommend the Red River Gorge (30 mins from Lexington) for hiking, zip lines, and world class rock climbing. Follow it up with Miguel's Pizza. Alternatively, Shaker Village is a beautiful and very unique place for hiking and preserved history (look up the Shaker people).

For other history-oriented activities, check out Ashland- the Henry Clay Estate, Mary Todd Lincoln's House, and the Waveland Museum (built by a close Daniel Boone relative). The Lexington Cemetery is also beautiful and perfect for a stroll. In addition to Perryville (mentioned up-thread), Camp Nelson is a Civil War Battlefield and National Monument- another place for rolling bluegrass hills and easy "hiking".

For nicer food and fancier atmosphere, our go-to staples are Carson's, Dudley's, Coles 735 and the Merrick Inn. Other local favorites of lower or slightly lower scale are Ramsey's Diner, DV8, Malone's/ Drake's, and Bourbon n' Toulouse. There are plenty of other options as well.

We'll be there with my kids so I might stop by if y'all are around. In case it helps, Kroger has a good sized gameday setup near the stadium with free food. Not great food (think hot dogs and a variety of sides) and usually some activities for kids.

Enjoy your time here, it's the best time of the year in Kentucky.

starting in and returning to lexington, this itinerary has 9 potential events based on your personal criteria, with just under 7 hours total drive time

the opening segment of 136 miles consumes almost 3 hours of the drive time

this friday 17 november lexington solar times are:

0748 sunrise

1856 sunset

the final event closes at 5pm so with 2 hours of lost daylight, to spend adequate time at each stop requires a pre-dawn departure from lexington

Game week! Looking forward to trip. Gametime set for 7p.

I have a reservation for 12 at Bear and Butcher at 12:30. I think just 5 from my group will go there so room for 7 others. Who plans to attend?

We'll go to tailgate around 2p.    https://tailgreeter.com/texas-kentucky-road-tailgate-football-on-the-bourbon-trail

I’m heading to the game with my uncle’s neighbor and son so just 3 in our party. I’ll see if we can leave Louisville early enough to get to Bear and Butcher to meet up with your party @TxEx84

If anyone is interested, I may have extra GA tickets for Friday at Keeneland. My daughter has a horse racing which should allow her to get a reserved box for my crew. Not confirmed yet.

Fuck cancer - I got doc approval to travel before my last round of chemo starts on Monday. My group of 6 is getting into/staying in Louisville on Thursday and driving to Lexington on Sat for the game. Don't think we will make it early enough for Bear and Butcher but appreciate the organizing effort.

We have group of 4 doing same. If you see four middle age guys walking about downtown Louisville drop a “Muledick”

Glad you got clearance, one of our group made it through colon cancer so hope you make it to other side of your treatment as well

It has gone much better than I had anticipated. Aside from feeling like shit/exhausted for a few days after each round, the only real issue I am having is tinnitus, which will likely be a permanent thing I will have to deal with after this is done with, and I suppose now gives me a valid excuse when the wife says I'm not listening to her.

@BurntEyes Is Charlie Brown's still an option after Bear and Butcher?

They were all open to us coming in whenever. They were prepared to receive the party at 11 am. Unfortunately, life stuff has gotten in the way and I'm unable to attend next weekend. If someone want to take the reigns on my reservations at Bear and Butcher and the contact info I have at Charlie Brown's just PM me. Happy to pass off information.

Gates open at 11a.  Post time of first race is 1p.  Yes, tailgating is pretty big deal at Keeneland. May consider this as an option at least for part of afternoon. It's free to park on the large grass field near track (you don't need ticket to the races). Just found out my daughter has a horse racing Saturday, as well.

Change of plans. Might not be able to make the tailgate or the meet up at Bear and Butcher. Sadly my last remaining grandmother passed away in Arizona on late Saturday night. So I’ve been going over the will and we’re traveling back to east Texas to bury her next to my grandfather. Funeral is Friday morning. I’m still going to the game, but I’ve had to change my flight. So I’m either flying out of Dallas on Friday night or early Saturday morning then heading over to Lexington.

I’m told that she was able to watch the Red River game since it was a 12:30pm kick her time. At least she got to see Texas beat Oklahoma one last time.

@Longboard Horn Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Anyone confirmed for showing up at Bear and Butcher on Saturday at 12:30? I have a table for 12, but they won't let us sit unless over half the group there. I'm down to four in my group for Saturday afternoon. @RRHorn - do you still need space for 2?  I will reduce my table size to 6 or 8 if I don't hear from anyone.

I don’t think we can get there that early. We are base camp in Louisville and then getting shuttled to game around 2 or so.

Hope everyone that is going has a good time and enjoy themselves. The game will never be in doubt for the Horns so enjoy what all on Cent. Ky has to offer.

Lived in Louisville post college, late 90's when I was poor and Wendy's .99 cent menu was a lifeline.  Fucking great town.  Thunder Over Louisville is amazing is you can ever make it.  Biggest fireworks show in the country, last I heard.  The Derby.  Derby days.  Mint julips and hot browns.  The debauchery of the infield.  The Bourbon Trail is iconic.

The drive between Louisville and Lexington is beautiful.  Picturesque horse farm after farm.  Wish I could make the trip.
