A players-only meeting would need to be called for and led by the most visible player. The richest player. The player that has received the most hype in, potentially, the history of college football.

That player can't hit the broad side of a barn, much less lead a players-only meeting.

At this point, I'm curious how many losses Arch gets. It's not in Sark's DNA to change QBs mid-season. I wonder if and when he will pull the trigger...

Absolutely zero percent chance he pulls Arch no matter what disasters occur on the field.

Could you even imagine?  There would be a media shit storm.  You'd have NFL royalty in Peyton and Eli being asked why their nephew was getting yanked for some no name who wasn't impressive at Troy.  And I guarantee you they wouldn't be putting the blame on Arch.  All eyes would eventually be turning to Sark and how he couldn't get the best out of Ewers and now how he can't get the best out of Arch.  The talking heads would start bringing up his overall W/L record.  They might even bring up his past foibles with the bottle and who knows what else.

Then what happens if Arch transfers because you benched him?  Your top dollar, big name recruit bails on your team?  Even worse, what happens if he bails, goes to another blue blood, and actually looks legit?  The only way it would be slightly salvageable is if Caldwell balled out and we started winning every game.

Sark is risk averse in the extreme.  He doesn't have the balls to fire guys who need to be fired.  He doesn't have the balls to bench guys who need to be benched.  And he sure as fuck don't have the balls to cross the Mannings and deal with everything that comes with that decision.

I said going into this season we were likely a 9 win team.

I didn't expand on that at the time but it was due to seeing if sark could sustain.

Since then I think the main questions are

1. Can he get his head out of his ass, give up play calling and offensive coordination, and focus on being a head coach ?

2. Will texas brass give him the time ?

Everything else going derived from these core questions

Imo Sark needs to own it quickly and announce he's going to hire a genuine offensive coordinator and act like a head coach.

He also needs to hit the portal hard on offensive lineman , and then succeed.

There are multiple programs showing a good off season can recover, but he has to show he's serious about winning or we will see a new coach end of next year

I've always wondered if he was against benching Hurts in the title game, and Saban told to eat shit and change his tampon.

Sark wasn’t even on the Alabama staff during that season. He won the title at Alabama in 2020 during the COVID shortened season, so it’s more like a *championship since that season was not a normal one.

Cubelic said he saw a little of USC defensive culture in Texas defense. He noticed guys doing the fun stuff but unwilling to do the hard stuff like setting the edge against two blockers.

Haha. Didn’t Sark only coach there a year and a half? And when he was under Carrol they had some of the best defenses in the country. What the fuck does that mean? Or is he throwing Nansen under the bus?

So, the guy who built that momentum. The guy who led us to the past few seasons. The guy who has improved recruiting. The guy who led Texas to the playoffs the last two seasons. ... is now in over his head? At what point did he reach that low point?

Now, this season is far below expectations and to be blunt, this is not a championship caliber team. We get that. Our offensive line looks like a bunch of dancing bears on roller skates. Our running backs are either perpetually injured or are as average as everyday wash.

It's easy to be a good coach when the winds are calm, the ocean is tame and you are basking in the sun. Well, the storm is coming and this program could be dashed against the rocks. What Sark does in this off-season will define his coaching legacy.

He will either rectify matters, make tough decisions, and do what it takes to build a championship team ... or he will become just one more former Texas coach who fails at whatever other school he goes to after receiving his walking papers here.

Are you trying to assert that Sark is not responsible for what was done last off season then? It's not a championship caliber team - that's on Sark.

The OL being shit is her purview. So is the RB room. So is the lack of scheme fit for running inside zone his entire tenure here. The list goes on and on. These aren't new problems; they;re just worse this year.

There are persistent issues during his tenure that have not gotten fixed and will likely not get fixed. He doesn't make adequate in-game adjustments, appears like a deer in headlights when shit hits the fan and the camera pans to him during games, and just gives a bunch of lame coach speak during PCs. It does not appear he knows what to do at all when things don't go to plan, and his record against good teams shows it. He shits the bed against the best of the best.

Sure, he built Texas back up, but let's not act like that's fucking difficult in the era of NIL and with all the other benefits Texas Football has at it's disposal.

I hope I'm wrong, but all indications lean that he fails to right the ship and win a championship during his tenure here.

Damn the tables turn fast around here hahaha. We were envisioning being two time national champs a few weeks ago after two years of arch to sark is Herman 2.0 and we should go after Saban again.

See above. The same cracks are showing this year - they're just much larger.

@someguy post in the seven win Steve thread is eye opening. Sark floated the idea of minimal spring anything and light no contact summer practices to be more like the NFL back in December. He then implemented it in March 2025.

Sark dug a hole a mile wide for our team before the season even started in March 2025. He is the architect of this shit. People can bitch and quibble and complain about Arch but I think all of us would agree that both Arch and Caldwell would have benefitted greatly from heavy spring practices and a spring game and contact practices in the late summer. Damn.
