Their helmets under Lombardi remain my favorite of theirs, thought it looked great along with their white jersey and yellow pants.

So a Utah helmet with worse colors! Honestly, I just hate when teams use the letter of their nickname vs the letter of the city they're from - they're not representing "Redskins", they're representing Washington.

IOW, Dallas should have a D instead of the Star?

A plain logo is just fine. It's obviously perfect for Texas. It's only when the letter is the nickname - the Bengals are the only pro team I can think that does that off the top of my head. The A's sort of do, but they're cool and vintage.

Plus, the Athletics have moved around a lot. Philadelphia -> Kansas City -> Oakland -> Sacramento -> Las Vegas. The A's KC ensembles were their best, IMO, bc they repped their hometown on their caps. Awesome, unique color palette, courtesy of Charles O. Finley.

I've got two beautiful kelly green and gold A's jerseys in my closet that I've barely worn for a couple years. Thanks John Fisher.

How long before A's ownership changes their colors to some combination of black, silver, and/or gold?

Vegas, baby!

A nice subtle update from Toledo - looks like a deeper yellow and the school name on the jersey

Previous for reference:

Another fun team to watch.

I love those Tuesday and Wednesday college football games.

It’s something to watch but seeing 500 people in the stands for those games makes me sad.

This guy has terrible taste. Just awful. I don't think any of those uni sets look bad at all but to put those top 5 is fucking stupid. It's like he's obsessed with weird fonts.

Agreed - I don't even know who that guy is.

The A's haven't always been in Oakland, so the nickname letter is a little more consistent. See also:  the present.

He sucks.

So does Tech not putting their black-red-black out there.  It has always been our best combo and they continue to fuck with it.

No one ever referred to the Redskins as the “Rs”. The As is used regularly instead of the Athletics.

Agree.  Do they just let Adidas do whatever TF they want? At least it isnt Under Armor any longer with their 7V7 style of jerseys.

There are agreed-upon directions, but Tech pretty much wears a different variant/ combo each week.  So in other words, the exact opposite of the schools like Texas/PSU/ Bama with the great classics.
I hate the gray unis for us. I also hate any red helmet. Some people like em, I do not. IMHO, we should wear Black-red-black for every home game with the all black for a night game or 2.   Road games, I like the black helmet with any other combo.

I know the players allegedly like the variants. I don't get a vote.  The thing I hate is turning on the game and having to figure out which team is Tech. We have a great mascot and outstanding colors. A lot of of the new designs detract from both of those.

"Core"?

This suggests they are going to continue to wear stupid-looking alternates.

As they should. As should any other school without great uni tradition. Let the peons have their fun. There is literally zero downside to rolling out insane alts every season, unless they are an actual attempt at great uniforms.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, and am certainly not following my local minor league team beyond catching a couple games a season, but I for damn sure have one of these hanging in the closet with the matching hat to boot.

I'm a big fan of the outlandish alts for no other reason than most CFB unis are shit.

Yeah, but what you are missing is that the overwhelming majority of the shit college football uniforms ARE the alts.

Weird/fun/outlandish/blinding shit >>> boring shit

Imo, every year there are ~5 great core unis, ~10 more good ones, and the rest land somewhere between boring and GAH. In a perfect world, every team has a kickass uni that is simple and unique and makes sense without an accompanying handbook written by marketing, but that's not real life. Instead, we just get iterations of this season's Nike template. Mocking the hackery of chokelahoma gray and tech's Texas flag bullshit is most of the fun.

You probably enjoy the parade of abortions that Oregon trots out every year.

Despite their highly visible wrong turns, Oregon has a decent batting average with their uniforms. The helmets with the mirrored wings are cool, they've got some really solid sets in their lineup.

These are good, distinctive cfb uniforms -  the duckbill orange visor was one of my favorite little touches:

No, but I prefer it to a single, repeated abortion in perpetuity. A revolving door of gimmicks is far superior to suffering through this and it's inverse 12x annually.

Some of the MiLB Copa teams/logos are awesome! I have some SA Flying Chanclas gear and may get some hats from other teams as well

Fun story, like 80% of the wild modern minor league logos and uniforms are designed by the same firm (which is pretty much just two guys from San Diego): https://www.brandiose.com/

Jason and Casey have built a successful business capitalizing on MiLB's more fun & whimsical approach to connecting with fans in smaller markets. Many of their concepts are too "cartoony" for my tastes, but I do appreciate the Amarillo Sod Poodles. Now I know that's a prairie dog.

San Diego State certainly has unique, logoless helmets.

Cool pattern, whatever it's supposed to be. I think it's an Aztec calendar.
