And John Facenda....

I’m not watching, but I’ve seen many of them (especially the early ones) several times. The Super Bowl III film is particularly interesting, as it broke from a traditional editing format and could be considered a precursor to the quick cuts popularized 12 years later by MTV.  They made it seem like Unitas threw about 20 passes on the final drive.

And mic’ing Stram was genius for IV.

"It's hot out there, so lets blow them off the line of scrimmage!"

Showing my age but it's cool to see what they did without all the CGI and special effects that every network seems to add these days. However the first down line is very cool

Bet not everybody knows that Tommy Facenda was John Facenda's brother by another mother. Tommy wore a blue cap for a while. (Anybody??  * *crickets* *)

Man, I used to watch those late at night on my little b&W TV by the bed when I was supposed to be sleeping on a school night. Pure heaven.

Facenda’s finest work…

Go to 1:40 for a reminder of why we didn’t literally run all over Georgia in the Cotton Bowl. And 3:43 to appreciate just how big that Freshman kid was who was gliding down that field

Go to 2:18 for a reminder of why the OP and I chose our usernames.

My first Texas game was UT vs Rice in 83 when Simmons ripped one off. I was sitting in the upper deck.

That was my redshirt senior season

…as a student/fan.

We just missed being on the 40 Acres at the same time.  I was a senior in HS in 83.  Freshman year was in 1984 at UT.  My college roommate and I both graduated from UT in December 1988.  We were accused of staying an extra semester just to get another football season in.

Senior year in high school. This season sold me on Texas for school. They suckered me in then gave me Akers on the down slide and McWilliams. Oh yeah, one tie and three losses to OU and 4 looses to the farmers. Did see Ricky, Vince and Peter Gardere beat OU 4 straight after graduation so it all evens out.

My daughter’s experience on campus was the same as mine. She entered in 2010 for the end of Browns run and into Strong’s experiment.
