What had to worry US planners is the possibility that by helping to destroy Russia thoroughly, all they would be doing is transferring a large part of Russia’s massive natural resources to China after it seizes large parts of eastern Russia - or at least those parts of Eastern Russia to which China currently has a historical claim. it was/is probably a valid concern that if Ukraine succeeded too successfully, Russia would use tactical nukes to counteract that success. With other countries you could discount that possibility, but Russian leaders are such self-interested lunatics focusing only on their own survival, that the well-being of their citizens - or their country - or their neighbors - or the world - is not one of their considerations in the decision to deploy those weapons

nah, still lose to tOSU, Georgia, and Florida.

I really hope you're right. But I've lost all faith in this electorate. Once they started winning Latinos and Gen Z, I lost hope. A lot of those folks need to be flipped or we're in for a bleak generation.

They’ve been doing that since October 1 this year. Gonna get pantsed in the playoffs.

This is a good post. But, art has long been commoditized by capitalists. There's a reason "starving artist" was a stereotype long before AI came around. AI is just a leap in that exploitation. Maybe a final gambit? I don't think Cuban is 100% incorrect. AI can be a great tool for the artist. I don't mean oh, go prompt your way to "Citizen Kane." But using AI to storyboard a concept? To make a demo to help sell an idea? To rapidly iterate through ideas to get where to where there is a clear vision of what you want to produce? As a means of continuing education to hone your craft? Those are all ways AI is going to help legitimate artists create and/or be better artists without replacing them as an artist. I know a guy who is a singer songwriter in Nashville who is pretty enamored with AI. He's not a starving artist, he's had some tunes cut by people with names you would recognize. He's not using AI to come up with lyrics and chords. He does that. But at that point, he's using it to produce quality demos to shop to people looking for songs. He can go from a song he wrote that he can play on guitar and sing to pseudo-professional and shoppable demo in hours. He loves AI and doesn't fear it in the least. I use it a lot to "hone my craft". One of the better ways to learn music theory right now is to just chat with ChatGPT about it while sitting at a piano validating what it tells you. I say that as someone with a mid-level understanding of music theory that is using ChatGPT to increase that understanding. Is it as good as a Berkeley school of music education? No, but its better than static youtube video content because I can ask questions, delve into what its saying and direct it where I want the lesson to go. Ultimately, it helps me be better at what I love doing at a commitment level I can make. If this is all AI was going to be for the arts, it would be a great and empowering tool. But that's not going to be all it will be. People like Cuban are going to use it as a way to further commoditize the arts. Streamline efficiency and cost optimize its production so the capitalist can capitalize. But, that's not really anything new. AI is just the newest method. As always, its not the thing, its the humans directing the thing that are the fucking problem.

Last weekend in May, here we come.

There's probably a scissor thread somewhere that way in IPIHB--->

I wish it was, but now that we will be actively going after tankers, the temperature has been raised substantially.

This does not describe his base. This describes something else entirely, maybe the persuadable middle or something. I have been told repeatedly that everyone voted for Trump because of his racism and otherism. And I certainly don't disagree with that as pertains to the base. I concede that Vance has the potential to appeal to a more rational class of voters. But I don't think there are enough rational Trump supporters to get him elected.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - This Is Fine

Obviously want to keep all these guys, that number better be 1 rather than 2. We can lose Zina and maybe Filsaime, but the others would be pretty big losses. -

Netflix has a solid Cold War documentary called turning point, I’m at the GHWB point, but every episode starts with a 3 min segment of the Ukraine war prior to rolling the intro segment and getting into the episode. It all Cold War proxy fight redux with the geography and people in harms way changing but the same major players. I get Russia has to be stopped to avoid further invasions into former Warsaw Pact and Soviet countries and I am a proponent of quick and swift defeat if possible of the Russians, but it’s just not the motivation. I’m not confident in European policy but I would not be shocked if it was largely aligned with the US wrt to this war, that doesn’t mean they are aligned with the US now on broader regional security issues though bc they clearly are not. semi related, I was shocked to see Russia refining capacity only knocked down 6% thus far. Meaningful but is it enough? all that to say, I’d put the over under on this conflict ending at 2 years from now and I could be convinced it’s longer. I’m curious what the intelligentsia on this thread thinks.

This staff has been pretty good about not losing guys they don't want to lose.

This is like witnessing someone watch our 2005 season for the first time. “You guys gotta see VY pump fake this OSU dude….!”

What an awful update to start my morning. Thanks!

Which is all to say, Ukraine remains a pawn in its own consistent struggle for autonomy and security. The more things change….

So Bobby made a comment in today’s coffee and football that guys like Smith, Filsame, Phillips, Zina, Terry, maybe I missed another name or two are taking the next steps in practice. Then he said he would be shocked if 1-2 of those didn’t leak into the portal. Thought it was interesting.
-
Also, probably the easiest position on the field besides kicker to incorporate someone who is new to the team, I.e., least amount of friction for team to team movement. Probably another chit in the “save your money for 5 stars and the portal” pile as a team building paradigm.

I view Buc-ees as a destination shitter. In the Florida Panhandle we also have Busy Bees which are like smaller Buc-ees .
