  1. Past hour
  2. It's a good thing we didn't use him up too much while he was here ..
  3. Kind of expected a group in the upper ranks to have made an attempt by now.
  4. Mix enough tequila and random tail gate food and you will .
  5. Somewhere, Tom Cotton has a priapism and it's not related to envisioning a threesome with Penelope/Salma/Sela/Scarlett/Monica/Ana/Jenna
  6. Related to the Riyadh Comedy Festival, just a reminder that the "Seinfeld of Saudi Arabia," Fahad Albutairi went to UT. I used to drink with him at Crown/Posse occasionally. He married Loujain al-Hathloul who was arrested, kidnapped, and tortured for the horrible offense of driving a car as a woman. Then they were further forced to get a divorce afterwards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahad_Albutairi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loujain_al-Hathloul
  7. Exactly why I took the picture, it was that color yellow.
  8. Actually, no. The Overton Window is the range of acceptable discussion. It changes over time. For example, there was a time in our world’s history where two people discussing the impact of witchcraft on crop yields was in the Overton Window, and the possibility that crop yields could be affected by tiny living organisms, too small to see with the naked eye, was outside it. There has been concerted efforts to control the Overton Window, using social media. For example: attempts by progressives to promote some tenets of Critical Racial Theory, for example- Kendi’s claim that “racial discrimination is required as an antidote for racial discrimination”, and then refusing to debate that claim in the public sphere (to disagree merely proves the opposition as white supremacists). Such a claim is within this message board’s Overton Window, but not that of the public at large. They don’t buy it. There are other examples- the campus protests where this board’s consensus is that the group scrawling swastikas on walls of Jewish meeting places are actually the anti-fascists. Another example- the contention that the 46th president had absolutely no cognitive issues and any claims to the counter were scurrilous slurs and disinformation. That was the official stance of this message board, strictly enforced with negs and mocking of any who said different. Until that day he demonstrated his all too obvious failings to the nation at large. (Note- I am not making any claims of mental soundness or health for 45/47). Cloak Room and Daily Texan are tightly run ships and the realm of acceptable political discussion is tightly enforced. It’s just badly out of step with mainstream America. (I notice CR thread about the assassin of Charlie Kirk still states the assassin to be a right winger) All of which is fine. I just choose not to comply.
  9. I heard my eye doctor last year talking to someone in the hallway about the stolen election and he was quickly my former eye doctor. Strange thing was everyone else in the office was either Hispanic or obviously lgbt.
  10. While I never knew there were so many dip shits in this country, the numbers still show we are a 1-4 % difference between who gets in power. I count on Trump and Company being absolute liars. And so they will not issue numbers that are unfavorable. But the bright side is they are also incredibly stupid. Which means they will either just quit issuing reports, or say that we have 100% employment when two out of three of your neighbors were laid off. While maggots will have no problem with that, I would bet my life that unemployed people with no health insurance will not react kindly to this administration lying about those issues. I’m not saying this guarantees a blue wave, but I am saying that the GOP is going to have to put in a lot more work in their election chicanery efforts to pull this off.
  11. US Army War College Publication. Well regarded. https://press.armywarcollege.edu/parameters/vol22/iss1/8/ Also, read Finer's the Man on Horseback.
  12. This team has resiliency I’ll say that But man, I gotta say I really want our midfield to get healthy
  13. So, looks like we maybe solved the earthquake issue as a by product of waste water from fracking. But...it looks like we created a zombie wells and water issue. Why do I have a feeling the tax paying citizens of Texas will be footing the bill and not the O&G companies which are causing the issue. As someone said in the comments. Socialize the losses, privatize the profits. That should be Texas' state motto.
  14. Not ideal, but I'll take a point away from home. Last year's 8th place was at 16 points (5W, 1D, 2L) and 24th place was 11 points (3W, 2D, 3L)
  15. That will be the least of everyone's concerns if that happens.
  16. Good call. Ended up stopping at Lavaca in PL. Just got the classic 2 meat plate. Brisket was top notch. Big Red ribs also good, but just a tad too sweet for my taste. Jalapeno cream corn was the best of the sides we ordered. Place is tiny, but we got there at the perfect time. One group of refinery workers were just finishing up and leaving and another group of 15+ came in right after we ordered. They were still in line ordering when we were pulling out of the parking lot.
  17. There's a mechanic across the street from where I work that I have been going to for years. Honest guy, always helpful, good prices, can't complain. I brought my car in a few weeks ago for some brake work and saw him wearing a MAGA hat and shirt in the office. I told him I can't do business with him anymore and walked out. Who the hell wears MAGA stuff in a business you own? That is a special kind of stupid.
  18. Not exactly a maga hat, but appropriate for this thread. Saw this super cool bro at the Kansas game at DKR a couple years ago:
  19. We need to start growing our own coffee and bananas.
  20. A point is better than zero but no reason to lose this match IMO
  21. Jesus. I just quit my job. I've got enough for a year. If I live like Mahatma Gandhi, I'm fine. My accountant says that I did this at a very bad time. My stocks are down. I, uh, I-I-I'm cash-poor or something. I got no cash flow. I'm not liquid or, uh, something's not flowing. I know it. But they got a language all their own, those guys.
  22. Florida was only +7.5 at Miami a few weeks ago. Obviously, Miami covered, but it was a 13-7 game with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. I'm sure Florida has been downgraded some more in the Vegas power ratings stuff since that game, but Texas -6.5/7 seems about right if you factor in home field.
