  2. One other thing - if the remaining refineries/operations have to somehow boost their output/throughput, that seems like a recipe for long-term wear and tear.
  3. Hoping to see more of Brad Spence
  4. Aaronson was so much better last night than he has ever been. He plateaued and was definitely a candidate for a “Brenden Aaronson is not our standard!” flyover banner for the last 18 to 24 months, but last night he showed awareness, composure, and decisiveness at a level that we’ve never seen before. The way he worked the Aussie defender into opening up so that he could send in a perfect nutmeg pass to Luna (that Diego didn’t life over the keeper for a sure goal) will sit with me for a while. That was Pulisic “feelin’ it” / “feelin’ himself” level bossing it in the final third. Don’t know if we saw a one-off exceptional Brenden or if that is just his new level, but he was very impressive.
  5. Glad to see my Ant keeper is still going strong lol. I guess I'll take the Roundball Rock team if I get 1st pick.
  6. Never had Perini's. But if you're in Abilene go to the Beehive in downtown. Never had a less than good meal there.
  7. I'm playing. I thought this came up in the past and if you want to keep both you just eat a round on one of them? Like if you traded for a 7th round keeper and had your own 7th round keeper you could draft one in the 6th round and one in the 5th.
  8. Today
  9. G'day Texas Nation How about them sooners!! 🫣 I'm bringing the family over next month for the Arky game and as we are from Australia I would appreciate any recommendations to do on game day. Including the easiest way to get to and from the stadium (downtown). Is it walkable? As we will be there for 3 nights, I would also appreciate any must do things in Austin and any awesome places to eat and drink. 🍻 I've had a look at ticket prices, there is currently some lower bowl for around $300. Would you expect this to drop closer to game day? Cheers for your help, we are so pumped! Hook em!!

  10. Im compelled to ask. Who would buy the businesses from the PE flip and why, if theres no value? And why did you buy your tech stack?
  11. There's still a lot more value in volleyball than other sports, but it's on a steep rise. I don't know how much Stafford got to transfer from Pitt to Texas. There are rumors Kennedy Martin got a $750k deal to transfer to Penn State, but that's not a good source or anything. Could be completely made up. Nebraska outbid Texas for Kaitlyn Hord, a first team all American middle blocker back in 2022. They paid $100k for a single season. Texas got Madisen Skinner, an outstanding outside hitter after Skyler Fields transferred from Texas to USC. I don't think either of them got anything approaching $100k. Brian Davis when he was working at the AAS did a FOIA request from Texas for their reported NIL payments in 2022 and the highest one for volleyball was the $50k Eggleston received, but that was a legitimate NIL deal for Champion. Nebraska is known to have over $1 million for NIL available every season. But they actually make money in volleyball. And they're about to make more with the addition coming to their volleyball arena with added premium seating. Texas is considered second highest - and that includes local NIL deals with companies like HEB. I haven't heard any rumors about the overall payroll for Texas. Texas does not make money in volleyball. But neither does anyone else. Wisconsin comes the closest after Nebraska. We did flip Ayden Ames from Nebraska by selling her on the idea Texas has plenty of NIL opportunities in Austin even if she's not getting paid directly by the collective. She even participated in a panel about it at last year's South By Southwest. Marianna Singletary, one of the starting middle blockers, allegedly transferred to UCLA because she wasn't happy with her NIL deal at Texas. But UCLA isn't known for their robust NIL program, so it's hard to imagine she got paid more there. Her best friend goes to school there and she's able to serve, which she wasn't going to be able to do at Texas, so maybe it was for professional/national team development reasons, rather than a higher NIL amount. SMU brought in 5 prominent transfers from around the country, including 2 from USC, 1 from Auburn, 1 from Texas, and 1 from Colorado State. There was significant competition/interest for all 5 of these players. Two of them, the one from Texas and one of the ones from USC, are considered among the best at their position in the nation, but all of them had significant success at their previous school. Without knowing numbers, I can guarantee you SMU wasn't able to put together that roster without a significant investment...for volleyball, anyway. The real answer is I don't know exact figures for a lot of the personnel movement. I get some figures, but only rarely is it reliable like it was for Hort. I do know that there are more schools involved with tampering and NIL investments in volleyball. Nothing crazy like the $1 million per year Tech is giving to Canady for softball, but there isn't anyone in volleyball who can have the same kind of competitive impact Canady did. Softball pitchers are practically unique in almost any team sport in that regard. I would say right now anyone other than the very best at their position can be brought in for $100k or less. And I don't know exactly how much it costs to bring in the very best setter, OH, OPP, or middle blocker. LIbero and defensive specialists won't be at the same kind of premium. There are also going to be discounts available. For example, Penn State's starting setter from last year that won the national championship as a freshman has now quit the team because her teammates and coaches felt like she was experiencing physical abuse by her hockey boyfriend. She denies it and is now looking to go somewhere else. How much she will command on the open market I have no idea. It's very clear Texas has an attractive NIL pitch in volleyball, because we keep bringing in the best high school players in the country, plus many of the best transfers. Nebraska and Texas pretty much have their pick of the litter in both talent pools, and then everyone else chooses from what's left. That's a little bit of an exaggeration, but not much of one. Shockingly, the two teams are the last unbeaten teams in the country, ranked #1 and #2 in the polls, with the serious inside track on being the top seeds when the tournament field is announced. I know this didn't answer your question directly, but hopefully it provided some context.
  12. Saban retired in part because he knew that the Alabama’s alums couldn’t compete with other alumni bases when paying players became legal. Penn State alumna could buy Alabama alums many times over. If Saban came back out of retirement, he would have a bank roll to compete with any college in the country. Don’t think that he will un-retire, but he could win a national championship in Happy Valley.

  14. @PTINS curious what you think of this IEA Sees Drone Strikes Weighing on Russia Oil-Processing Till Mid-2026 - Bloomberg "The impact from Ukrainian drone strikes will suppress Russia’s refinery processing rates until at least mid-2026, the International Energy Agency says in its latest monthly oil-market report... ' Previously, we had assumed a normalization of refining activity as we approached year-end but now embed a more cautious outlook,' the Paris-based agency said in a report on Tuesday. The IEA currently sees Russian processing rates at just under 5 million barrels a day through June 2026, and a recovery toward 5.4 million barrels a day later, with the outlook to be revised as more information becomes available. ' The increasingly widespread and significant Ukrainian drone campaign against Russian oil refineries and infrastructure' has so far cut the nation’s crude processing by an estimated 500,000 barrels a day, the agency said... With the drone strikes weighing on refinery runs, Russia raised its crude exports in September to 5.1 million barrels a day, the highest since May 2023, according to the IEA. Still, the nation’s oil-export revenues declined to a three-month low of $13.4 billion, the agency estimated. The decline came as Russia’s crude-supply revenues, which rose $200 million month-on-month, were more than offset by a $440 million drop for oil-product exports, the report said. According to the IEA calculations, Russian fuel supplies to other countries in September reached 2.4 million barrels a day, the lowest in a decade, excluding April 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic."
  15. I've been shouting from the rooftops about this for years. I feel like Ian Malcolm in when the T-Rex broke out of the paddock and he said "Boy do I hate being right all the time." The Obama administration really broke something in these white nationalists' brains. Anytime Black people or other POCs obtain any type of advancement the backlash from white supremacists is swift. This current era feels like the post Reconstruction era, where the rights of Black Americans were stripped down after a betrayal by the Supreme Court and we were led into Jim Crow. JC Penny suits replaced the KKK hoods, but their motive is still the same, cripple Black voting power, hamstring Black economic advancement, attack HBCUs, gaslight and deflect while they do trifling stuff, etc. The effects of their efforts will trickle down to other POCs, just as it has done in the past. People underestimate just how many among our populace is still mad about the 1960s Civil Rights legislation, they really want a return to pre 1954.
  16. Call me a cynic. Maybe, just maybe, he thought it would be a good career move to convert. But then again, I'm implying that some "religious" folks are less-than-sincere, and we all know that to be false.

  20. Having lived and worked on both sides of Hispaniola, the womenz are pretty damn bad ass. My brother's wife, girl who grew up in the campo is gorgeous. Her niece is, well, something special. One of the most beautiful women I saw in my life was up in the hills around Port Au Prince.
  21. I don't know shit about fuck, but I do know for certain that "private equity" destroys EVERYTHING it touches.
  22. Just saying it’s apparently important to him.
  23. I was about to say. There were so many mixed race people in France's Caribbean colonies that they formed their own ethnic group.
  24. I hope circling raven is on your list. It's the best course up here.
