Overall, a very good season and helps smooths over some of the inconsistent recent seasons. Looking forward to 18. Hopefully they go out strong.

Texas Football 2025 Fall Camp - Kicking the Sonofabitch In
Hank Kingsley replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Imagine crying about our schedule after decades of yawn-inducing bullshit in the Big XII. Now that we live in a world where 3 loss teams can make a college football playoff, I want Texas to play as many big time programs as possible. -
Agree, but with the relative weakness of some of the SEC programs, it does mean the conference has to do some semblance of balance to a) give those weaker teams at least 1 compelling matchup and b) balance out the 3 permanent opponents so that nobody is given 3 nobodies or 3 really good teams to deal with every year There's going to be 3-4 programs who will be mad at the end of the day once the permanent opponents are announced. A few teams are going to have to give up a game they really like for something that's less interesting, and vice versa. OU is going to get Missouri for proximity and Big 8 ties. And obviously Texas. But then do you force them to take aggy as their third opponent, which means aggy, now saddled with OU and Texas, has to choose between Arkansas, LSU and/or an easier opponent, like South Carolina or Miss St. Somebody isn't going to be happy.

Could be Saban said to throw the guy whom he helped save his career and get the Texas job under the bus re his alcoholism. Or could be that Saban leaned heavily on Golding to win at his job.

Especially considering the news the committee will increased weightings on wins and reduce penalties for losses to good opponents -
We had a deep bench for exactly one match.

Does where the game was broadcast matter? If it were better games it would be on a bigger network, and if it weren't people would go out of their way to find where the SEC network was showing the game. We do it all the time personally for games we want to watch. We find a way. If people aren't finding ways to watch those games, it means they're dogshit and no one cares. -
Spurs 2025 Off Season Thread - Popping Off

Wait a minute. You come online and feel validated that "so many" people agree with you. About anything? You do live in a bubble, and respectfully, it's one of the least interesting and "watered down" areas of the city. I can't think of a more generic part of town and that is less representative of the spirit of this city. This city absolutely loves the Spurs. Per usual, you are either the dumbest motherfucker on this site or its most prolific troll. -
Long excerpt about Arch's recruitment from an upcoming book about QBs: https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/46022536/ruthless-recruitment-arch-manning This part caught my eye. Fuck Nick Saban. NOBODY KNEW WHERE Arch Manning wanted to go to school. Some in the family preferred Georgia, where head coach Kirby Smart would coach him hard. Others, Alabama. The problem for Alabama was that Nick Saban -- whom the Crimson Tide assistants affectionally called "Daddy" -- was getting up there in years, and nobody knew how long he'd be there. Texas kept lingering. Competition was so fierce that everything was fair game. It was public record that Steve Sarkisian had battled alcoholism, a disease that nearly cost him his career. Sark had rebuilt his life and work in recovery. But during one Zoom call with Arch, Golding was discussing Alabama's schematics and culture, and then he went there. "I love Sark," Golding said. "He's my best friend." He paused. "I hope he can stay sober." After the Zoom ended, Stewart called Golding. "Pete, that's f---ed up!" Golding knew. He had no choice. "Daddy's on me."

I would guess that would mean recent G5 CFP participants. Like, sure you can schedule Boise State as your marquee OOC game within a window of X amount of years since their CFP appearance. Which I would also support. A G5 team who got a CFP invite within the last 3 years is a very good program/game to schedule. -

I was glad to see that announcement. I hope they are faithful to it. Because there is still some old school thinking with poll voters about not putting a 3 loss team above a 2 loss team. I prefer more of a power ranking approach. Say Ohio State loses to us in a close game late. They really should not drop in the polls due to that loss (unless Texas was somehow a fraud and we end up losing a bunch of games). I hope teams that schedule FCS byes in November are penalized. I'd drop them in the polls for that nonsense. -
Bringing this back to earth, I see that Mazda is making a 3.0 inline six. Those are getting rare these days, even among bimmers. Kind of disappointing numbers, though. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a43975258/2024-mazda-cx-90-inline-six-engine/

I just don't understand what they think the end game is. There is no coming back from this. It just keeps getting worse. I don't understand how they could want what is inevitably coming: there will be a period of time where we will be ruled by a dumb dictator who pretends to believe in white christian values. But being ruled is not part of our culture. this will eventually end in bloodshed and civil war. or they could restore the rule of law and tell the idiots to go pound sand. im just not sure what they get out of it.
