  1. I really liked their Memorial Drive / Asbury location. We had a HornFans HH there back around 2004 or so which was when I realized half the board were folks I knew from growing up in Houston. My memory of the times I stopped in were that it was a darn good spot for watching football and other sports.
  2. Hah, yep. I was in #203 which was directly above Flying Saucer. It was a corner unit that had something like 16 almost floor-to-ceiling windows and spanned half of the building fronting Main and wrapped around the corner on Capitol. Awesome spot and that was the year I met @mycox. Hell of a post-divorce year before moving to Austin during spring/summer 2005.
  3. Back when I lived above a bar in downtown Houston (20 years ago before moving to Austin) a buddy and I rode our bikes from downtown to Hermann Park drinking the whole way- vodka/drank in multiple water bottles with a stop at the Smith St. Spec's to load up a bit more. When we got to Hermann Park we commandeered a golf cart from the tournament that was in progress. We drove the cart around the course and various non-golf parts of the park getting absolutely hammered for a couple of hours- it was one of those gorgeous spring days that you only get a handful of in Houston. Great time. After that we rode our bikes down to Valhalla for (a bar on the Rice campus) a few beers and then over to The Ginger Man... and then bike/bar hopped back to downtown w/out getting run over somehow. Anyway, that was the last time I was in Hermann Park. /csb MIA- definitely take advantage of your location as much as you're able and keep kicking cancer's ass!
  4. I saw it this evening at Fantastic Fest. I recognized the title from this forum but didn't know anything about it going into it... thoroughly enjoyed it- it's good.
  5. Yep, this was my understanding from the reporting/articles yesterday.
  6. Has it? I use it 4-6x each week (and have for over 20 years now). What are you complaining about now?
  7. From what I recall, Celery Man lives in Hogwarts Castle so maybe give it a little longer.
  8. Agreed. I'd never even heard of it until @Al_4_ISU started mentioning it a while back.
  9. I asked my GP this question last year just to be sure (I never had chickenpox and then got the vaccine in my 20s). He said I didn't need the Shingles vaccine.
  10. Lol, there's not gonna be a link. Statsman is clearly a miserable troll who hates his life.
  11. ~3.5 years, and they're pretty darn good.
  12. Butler was my regular after work happy hour routine for quite a while back in their byob days. I still live super close but don't go nearly as often with it being so regularly crowded since the remodel... not surprising, they did a great job on the remodel.
  13. I didn't see Concrete Utopia mentioned yet, or maybe it was discussed in another thread somewhere. I saw it at a film festival back in 2023, so hopefully it is streaming somewhere. It's great- I recommend it. "When an earthquake reduces almost all of Seoul to smoking ruins, miraculously one building remains standing. Surrounded by destruction, the survivors try to restore order but as outsiders begin to seek refuge at Hwang Gung Apartments, the residents soon realise that the real disaster is yet to come. South Korea's entry for the 2024 Oscar for Best International Feature."
  14. Sounds like a plan!
  15. I read the book last month and afterward watched the movie for the first time. Good stuff. Thanks for keeping us updated, I appreciate the updates and am always hoping for the best for you. I suspect there are many others who feel the same way but haven't posted Hang in there buddy, and keep fighting!
  16. I made it as well. Awesome night for it- the weather ended up being great, excellent music, great people watching, and just fun all around.
  17. I've seen the meek. They have a good time.

With the cool weather the last 2 mornings some friends and I played 36 holes this weekend.... Live Oak (Saturday) and Circle C (Sunday). Great fucking time... felt like weekend staycation mode 😀 ! Happy to report that both courses are in great shape. I hadn't thrown Circle C in ~10 years.
  19. Heavy rain for almost an hour in the Barton Hills / Zilker area (ended ~20min ago).
  20. The Terror was great. There's a dedicated thread for it here IIRC, from a few years ago so you might have to dig but it has a decent amount of discussion from back when the first season aired.
  21. I've been eligible for 30+ years but have only been summoned 2 times... and have never had to show up. Both times the letters said to call ahead of time- at a very specific time the morning of (Houston / Ft. Bend) or the day before (Austin/Travis). Both times they said I didn't need to show up.

I played the Austin Beerworks course this morning (now enjoying beers in the tap room). Such a fun course but definitely challenging. I didn't take many photos, but here's one from the tee pad on 4.
