  2. I'm pretty sure if there was a blind taste test with every beer mentioned in this thread except for the few beers that have distinctive tastes, Shiner Bock and any stout, most of us couldn't tell the one we say we love from the one we hate. Miller, Bud, Lone Star, PBR, etc... I don't think anyone could blindly identify which was which among those.
  3. Remember when they had that decibel meter on the scoreboard? The orange bands around the edge of the scoreboard would light up and the light would rise higher and higher with the noise until at the loudest moment it would light up the Longhorn at the top. Does the new scoreboard have anything like that? It should. Lighting up the Longhorn became a goal
  4. Hadn’t even thought about Tahoe. That’s a good idea to look into. I’ve skied Heavenly before and loved it. Way before kids. Purgatory a couple of times too. Good suggestions, thanks.
  5. This is what I came here looking for. When my kids were young we’d always go to Angelfire because it was cheap and it chaps my ass to pay big mountain prices when they’d only ski the same little runs over and over. But one year we got burned badly with lack of snow at AF and vowed never to do NM at Spring Break again. The last few years we’ve gone to Wolf Creek because the families we travel with had a free condo in Pagosa. But I’m tired of driving up that mountain every day. This year the girlfriend and her kid are going which rules out driving in one car. So I’m looking into places we can fly into. Hoping to avoid I-70 and rental cars. Spring Break. With 5 of us I don’t see how this will cost less than $10k. I’d rather have smaller crowds and good convenience than epic terrain. We all snowboard blues all day, doesn’t take much to keep us happy on the snow. Where else should I be looking?
  6. I was fresh out of boot camp and about mid-way through School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton when the news showed those guys’ bodies getting dragged through the streets. I don’t remember everything we did that day but I remember the instructors were pissed and took their anger out on us in the form of PT. The photos were pulled out more than once in the training cycle when guys weren’t hacking it as a way to say that someone is going to depend on your actions one day to keep this from happening to them. Great book. The same guy, Bowden, also wrote Killing Pablo about our DEA guys involvement in the hunt for Pablo Escobar. Also a great book.
  7. If you hadn’t snuck Ron Howard into that list I’d think you were making fun of Oklahoma.
  8. I get it for sure. But if either kid is looking for a way to justify it, Ted Koy, Captain on the 1969 Championship team, and member of the UT Hall of Honor went to vet school at A&M after his time in the NFL.
  9. Fuck Aaron Judge. And baseball in general. Nobody cares.
  10. No. Over the age of 2 requires a ticket. *Unless the kid knows how to slow down a short and intermediate passing attack, in which case he's welcome down on the sideline.

  12. This and this. HEB donuts in the box, microwaved for about 10 seconds blow both KK and RR donuts away. KK is straight up gross. RR is just another ordinary donut unworthy of the hype.
  13. You’re not the only one who notices. The last few months have been a steady progression to his becoming one of the top 5 worst posters on his own board.
  14. What was that site in the late 90’s that just posted links to every Longhorn article writtten everyday? No message board, just a long list of new links every day. Billy Bob’s something? I think I went from that to Hornfans. Hornfans to Longhornfanzone, to Shaggy, to here. Or was LFZ before Hornfans? When Hornfans or LFZ went south Lowery21 invited me to Shaggy. He and I are still friends but I’m not sure where he posts these days. Haven’t seen him online in years. I posted under a different username back then but the ex-wife called me out on some shit I’d posted about and I realized she was lurking and looking for dirt. And that’s how I became Your Mom.
  15. Some of you have too high of standards for places that are meant to be barely a step above McDonalds or Taco Bell. If you’re ordering from a counter it’s just fast food without a drive thru. Freebird, Chipotle, Mighty Fine, etc shouldn’t be compared to places you sit down with a waiter serving you.

  17. Well... it was 9 o'clock on a Saturday. The regular crowd shuffled in...

  19. My pool guy told me to empty the skimmer baskets once week or as needed, the pump basket once a month, and clean the filter cartridges every 3 months.

  21. 417 Union does good breakfast. That’s the name of the restaurant, not the address. It’s a couple blocks off Broadway. The bars on Broadway are great when it’s 2 in the afternoon on a weekday and there’s some up-and-coming kid with a guitar singing all the cover songs you love and one or two of his own. One of my favorite times down there was watching some dude play all the Johnny Cash tunes on a homemade electric cello that was all beat to shit and duct taped together. Watching him shred on that thing and drinking $1 PBRs was a fun afternoon But during prime entertainment hours, Friday and Saturday nights, etc. it’s a complete shit show. It’s like dirty 6th but more crowded. SEC frat boys, 50-something inbred couples on vacation from Alabama, and bro country douches with bedazzled jeans, and the street and sidewalks completely packed.
  22. Aggies would threaten to set their water tower on fire.
  23. I usually only go to one game or so a year but I have never parked in a garage, always street parking. Even if you park a mile from the stadium you're looking at a 20 minute walk. Unless you're handicapped, I don't see the appeal of garage parking at all. And if you end up further than you want to walk there are pedicabs that are still a much better deal than garage fees and still way faster.
  24. The world owes Cam Rising a debt of gratitude.
  25. Brad Pitt sucks.
