  1. Dude had three ships sunk out from under him. I'm not sure I'd want to serve on that bad boy.

Momma's biscuits taste so good if you put one on top of your head your tongue would beat your brains out trying to get to it.
  4. Union rule #1: Never take a shit on your own time.
  5. My folks live on 3 acres and the house is dead center and not visible from the road. Just a mailbox and gravel drive weaving through the woods. It takes a pretty brave soul to walk down there uninvited. On day my Dad hears their red healer Buster going ape shit. He looks out in the driveway and sees 3 Mormons standing back to back while Buster circles them with his hackles up and looking like he'll murder them at any moment. He laughed for a while and then opened the front door and said "When I call him you have 10 seconds to be gone". They were and he's never been visited since. That was about 20 years ago. He thinks he's on a list somewhere.
  6. I have no doubt y'all crossed paths. Dad graduated from Travis in '62 and his brother in '64. They lived on Harwood Place just off Travis Heights. My Grandfather was APD so they couldn't get too out of control but they got into plenty of mischief.
  7. You probably ran into my Dad and his hoodlum Travis Heights friends. I've heard more Pig Stand stories over the years than I could possibly remember.
  8. I enjoyed it. I'm not sure why a Terminator movie has to be taken so seriously. It's a movie about time traveling killer robots. It's not as good as the first two, sure, but it's still a pretty good action movie.
  9. I saw it Sunday and it was good. The characters they focused on were critical to the action and while there was a little video game feel to some of the combat, for the most part it looked damned good and the pacing was excellent I thought. Looks fantastic on the big screen and it doesn't pull any punches about the true cost of war. Hollywood never gets strafing right so that's a little annoying but it was intense and nice to look at for sure.
  10. Correct. Special events are exempt.
  11. I just wanted to pimp this. Just in "beta" testing now but I was able to sign up and so far I've seen 4 movies in the week and a half I've had it. I have to see 3 movies a month to pay for it. The hard part is not spending $30 on food and beverages every time you go. I also got a companion pass and the hardest part is my wife and daughters fighting over who gets to go with me. I suspect I'll end up seeing some movies I don't care to see just to take them but I don't feel too bad about that.
  12. Appreciate all the responses. Good point about going into the city, but I think she's going to have a hard time with her husband. He's a grade A shit head, so she needs the best she can get that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. She's going to be the custodial parent for their two girls and I wouldn't be surprised if she has to fight tooth and nail to get paid on any child support that ordered. She's also caring for her mother who has dementia so that's just a nice extra kick in the gut. I wish she was in Austin and could use hornian.
  13. I doubt she cares if it's a local guy. She's just trying figure out how to start at this point.
  14. You don't want. Trust me. Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
  15. A friend needs a rec. She's not loaded but the real estate is complicated due to in law issues. I trust Surly for these things.
  16. That reminds me of the joke in the Army about the towels. Issued towel, OD green, waterproof, one each.
  17. Bill Miller has great fried chicken. BBQ not so much but the chicken is excellent.
  18. @Jhawk is being a real bitch about this whole thing. You got busted. Face the music.
  19. My middle daughter was a lot like this. Very smart, but hyper sensitive to the slightest criticism, especially from me. She still doesn't like to be told she's in the wrong but as she's gotten older it's become much more of a strength. She works hard to do the right thing and it drives her to excel, but doesn't bring her down any more. Getting help never hurts, but I think you'll find that as he matures and learns more about himself he'll naturally get better. We did, in fact, have her talk to a counselor a few times and she basically told us not to change anything, that she would be fine as she became more comfortable with who she was as a person. Good luck!
  20. Is it sad that I drove to Luling for some work stuff yesterday and I had no desire to stop in Lockhart for BBQ? I mean, 10 years ago that would have been the highlight of my day. I guess it's a good thing that we have so many more good options but it kind of made me feel vaguely depressed.
  21. I have a friend who you might call a statuesque blond, at least in her youth. She's a really fun person and a great athlete who doesn't take any shit. She worked for whatever bank that was just south of GM and had to go to that branch for some reason one day. As she was walking by GM the guy says "Hey Barbie, why don't you come in and have a cheeseburger?" She looked over at the window and "splat" pickle. She, or course, flinched and it pissed her off. She had no idea about GM so she headed for the door ready to give them hell and walked in to find about 30 people in line and everyone was looking at her. She said she just put her head down and headed for the bank. She ended up going in and getting a burger a few weeks later and became a fan.
  22. Baggy still gives him shit about it every time he's in the booth and it's hilarious.
