The team is broken on the field right now for two main reasons and both of those reasons can be traced to a failed offseason (defensive back coaching hire and offensive line transfer portal decisions). Now we are learning our coach was potentially distracted by the very demons we were told were under control and that is potentially why 2025 is a lost year. There absolutely will be consequences and my guess is they have the required contract language to fire him for cause if they felt that was necessary. But from what I can gather they would  rather he get his shit together and make major changes in the offseason.  I have no idea if going 0-2 to finish the year changes that mindset.

Gutting the offseason practice schedule was a big deal imo too. I get the logic behind it but less practice = worse team.

I'm sure they don't want to part ways. He has shown the upside when he has his shit together and the program has gotten all aligned for the first time in ages, which he deserves plenty of credit for. Plus it's not a great look for anyone if they split. But IF these rumors are real, then yeah they could likely fire for cause and might do so if they feel like he can't get his shit together.

Yeah, I don't care about any of that unless it is affecting the locker room, but that doesn't necessarily impact on the field performance or preperation. I feel like some of you don't know any (disgusting men) in high places. A 40MM roster was wasted? This roster just isn't that special compared to the last two seasons. We all have eyeballs. They're a 7-3 talent type team. Sark's job over the off season is to fix that.

I’m definitely confused about this being the most expensive roster in college football. No elite OL, rb, wr, te, edge, cb, and the nickel is downright awful at times. How is this roster that expensive?

At minimum, Sark needs to fundamentally change his approach to the job. To date however, he's only shown arrogance and a reluctance to accept accountability for the program's shortcomings.

When you combine this with the distractions of an attention seeking wild card wife, and the inherent instability that comes from continuing to drink, you have a volatile situation that's hard to reconcile with an organization that prides itself on being a stable flagship for the state. This situation seems unsustainable in the long term.

Eventually, shit gonna to blow.

Arch may need to take a page from his uncle Peyton's rival - Tom Brady.  Cut some of your salary so you can have an elite offensive line and defense.

Don't forget in 2024 there were rumblings about firing Day after he lost to Michigan. You know the coach who won the championship.

But yeah Texas fans are THE WORST, Kirby says so, so you know it's true.

Money isn't the fucking problem. Properly applying it is the issue.

Wanna let Arch pick his OL, RBs and WRs in the portal?

Could not be any worse so, I'm game. Bet he would cough up some of his money in that case.

The best thing he can do for everyone involved is win. That cures a lot of things, even if only for the short term. He also needs to be careful of accusing others of lying publicly because we do not want to go down that road.

Really shitty choices regarding investments through poor evaluation and development by the coaching staff is how you end up with such a bad team while spending so much money.

I'll never understand fans that don't understand the way coaches talk to media and the way they talk behind closed doors is night and day.   It's truly fascinating people that allegedly follow sports can't comprehend this yet after every loss there are people that lose their mind at the press conference.   Does anyone think that the leaked Bo Davis rant that is (rightfully) praised would ever be said publicly LOL.

I wasn't saying pick the team.  I was saying for Arch to cut a couple of million off his payday for that money to be spent on offensive line.

The main issue right now is sark has no idea how to handle anything and its pretty clear he's getting shitty advice from his team or his wife. The real issue comes from the fact that his team and the universities team are clearly not the same team.

He's out there saying crazy shit someone representing himself shouldn't even say and he's doing it while representing all of Texas Football.

He isnt able to fully grasp that in order to become the head coach at Texas you have to become Texas Football, it has to define your entire life, it has to be WHO you are. He clearly wants to be his own person and Texas Football is just his job.

Correct me if I am wrong but the winning MNC team for Ohio state cost around $20 million.

this is our budget this year, according to the Houston Chronicle article in May of 2025. Now this article was written by Bohls so I guess it cannot be trusted at all?

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

“The Texas Longhorns are allegedly approaching an unheard of stratosphere for their 2025 football roster.

The football factory is spiking its budget for this upcoming season from $20 million to between $35 million-$40 million, the Houston Chronicle reported, although 247 Sports disputed that its roster will cost that much.

Texas is reportedly increasing its name, image, and likeness (NIL) budget, which will be a “one-time exorbitant expense” for what is set to be nation’s most expensive college football team.”

I disagree with this.   Or at least any insinuation we are a less toxic or fair weather than the worst in that regard (which, I'll admit, is a decent chunk of the SEC and several other top tier programs). We are certainly up there with all of them.

Almost no one has the money invested that Texas does. We haven’t fired coaches in recruits’ driveways, we haven’t fired anyone after a year or two, we haven’t fired anyone winning 10 games a year. We tolerated Charlie Strong’s stupid ass for years longer than we should have. The expectations here are not unreasonable. The off the field demands are no greater than anywhere else, except you will live life under a microscope

When you’re making $10MM+ and your roster is highly compensated, the buck stops with the head coach. Don’t like it, don’t sign up for it.

I'm telling you this is safely top 5 in NIL spend and probably top 3 this season. Including paying a top 5 head coach, but a top 2 total salary for staff including analysts. It also has a top 5 budget for facilities and additional stuff like that.

There's 0 excuse not to be in the top 12 teams every single time as an expectation. Conference champion? That's a little bit of a stretch. Guaranteed to go to demos? A stretch. Making the wildcard 12 round? Not a stretch.

Did you forget Schloss the night before he took the job LOL.   And the running game bit I did hear.  I didn't agree with it but more nuanced than you are stating.  Again, standard post loss coach speak in my view.   I actually think media is the one thing Sark does better than any coach we've had (not quite as full of shit as Mack was and way better than Strong or Herman)

Let's look at where the NIL is going

Arch Manning - mediocre QB

WR - Wingo and Mosley and 3 freshmen that barely play (Lockett, Ffrench, Daylon)

TE - Endries

DL - paid up to beef up the interior (Watson, Shaw, Brevard) and edge (Spence), and keep Colin Simmons

DB - retained Manny Muhammad and Taafe

LB - keep Ant Hill

Add all that up and pretty clear it's some shitty allocation that ignores glaring holes at OL, RB and a second corner.

There ain’t no damn way the roster is $40 million, that’s a shit estimate. It might be expensive but it ain’t no where near those estimates. I’d believe $15-$20 mill.

Arch, despite all he has had to overcome in game plan, no rushing game and no blocking has the single best stat of the entire offense at #40 in national all passing yards. He is way above mediocre.

Did this actually happen?  I know we didn't have a spring game.  But don't recall hearing this until fairly recently.

If so, it may go a long way to explaining why Sark thinks he has a better team than he's got, and maybe also why the team isn't that good in the first place.

Look at my post on page 229 of this thread. I documented ALL of it.

Tldr: He reduced the number of days of practice to 15 and then cut the number of practices per day in half going to 1 time per day instead of 2. He also instituted a NFL style no contact scrimmage practice. He missed junior day, then 2 Mack Brown supplied scrub coaches were hired, and made zero moves in the portal to address gaps.

Page 229 its all there and well documented.

It’s funny cuz I met a bunch of Surlies in real life. all my pals.  I am not trying to date one, I have a BF and he is like an honorary surly. As far as attention I will never live down my non-sober years, and have been sober since 4/24/22. Drinking was my vice. I do gummies now and then and occasional pre-roll. I destroyed some of my life back then.

I root for sark. In this regard as a person. He also has enormous talent. And his demons have gotten in the way in the past at other places and that is not a rumor that is a fact. He sued USC when they fired him for being drunk saying he had a disability and they didn’t help him. All facts.

all of this a matter of public record and it is not in dispute.

I have heard from multiple people that I trust that he has NOT conquered his demons here at Texas whatsoever. This season and his slap dick approach to the offseason as well coincides with other places he has worked and had “issues.” He’s not a choir boy. He met L’Oreal before he was divorced. A good friend of mine who’s known her well over a decade advised her not to chase him at the time. He was married. She did anyway. All facts.

No matter whether the rumors about L’Oréal or Sark are being unfaithful to each other outside their marriage multiple names have been brought up on both sides and some connected to our fucking team. Does that sound professional and or winning a MNC to you?

If you do not think the above has any bearing on our win loss record or recruiting or evaluating talent cool. That fine. But I think if you also knew with your own eyes this shit to be true you would absolutely agree it has an affect on everything that a HC would do.

It’s not about someone who drinks this is someone who considers himself a recovering alcoholic in his own words and he cannot drink. And when he does he loses his jobs. In the past.

no one has to believe any of the above ever at all. It’s been told to you so you don’t get blindsided if major changes are made and he is gone or he stays and major changes are forced on his ass. That’s the reality. Like it or don’t like it your choice.

This is great and all, but do you have any cat facts?
