Sark may or may not be the coach at Texas next year.

From someone that called the Schloss news on another board, he just said today he won't be the coach in 2026. I'm kinda leaning towards believing him.

Has failed at a big time program and hasn’t won shit yet. If 10 wins is the goal shit Sark might get there this year let’s extend.

Can you imagine how glorious it would be if Lane Kiffin ever got sideways with the Texas fan base?

You're all caught up.

Sark just looks like he’s mentally wiped out. Don’t know if he has it in him to continue in this pressure cooker. The NFL would indeed be less stressful.

Sonny Dykes? The coach that got TCU to the National Championship game in a 4-team playoff with Max Duggan as QB?

Biggest fools gold ever. Patterson team.  That team got to the NCG in spite of Dykes, not because of him. Then his hire of baby Briles alienated and drove away a good chunk of the fanbase and some big money.  But nobody could say no because NCG. That AD is fired, and it’s gonna take some time to undo the damage.

Our current coach that this board currently wants to run out of town has been to an SEC title game and the playoffs twice, neither of which are accomplishments Kiffin can lay claim to.

Our current coach is borderline burnt out and in denial of ALOT of things.    The Presser reminded me of a political campaign spokesmen the day before the election who  knows they are about to get their asses kicked, but claims the polls show otherwise.

It's call putting lipstick on a pig, polishing a turd....   There are other comparisons

yeah he seems so fucking checked out in terms of process and results. and the AD is fucking silent. BMD too.

Cmon man.  When had CDC ever shit talked his coach?  Or the BMD? Other than Red.

"I want to reiterate Tom Herman is our coach" ring any bells?

A possible explanation for all of this is:  Sark is overwhelmed and shocked by his own fuckups and knows it can't really be fixed this season.  He has actually made some changes, and also undid them to some extent, but made some relatively permanent.

On a serious note, whether we go back to a decade of dark ages or not, you don't believe Sark has reached his ceiling as a HC?

I’m here for the entertainment factor if it happens I guess. This offseason on this site will be a dumpster fire if he stays

An NFL HC gig is probably better than a college one right now.

I will by mightily impressed it Steve Sarkisian can convince an NFL team to hire him as a head coach.

How do you know he’s talking about the head football coach.

Because that's what Desmond Howard was talking about.

Not sure, and neither are you.

No one knows.  At his time at Texas he hasn't been in this particular scenario. The rest is all speculation and trying to pattern-match the past with the present and future.

Yes, he's had some shitty teams, but he improved them every year until now.

Did he fix everything all at once?  Nope.  But he improved.

Now he's dealing with self-inflicted problems.  He's probably going to get the chance to fix that, too, due to money and circumstances.

Maybe Sark doesn't want to be a HC in the NFL?

He's set for life with whatever he's made here in Texas and whatever he leaves town with.   Unless his wife spent it all.  LOL

Asst jobs in the NFL seem a lot less pressure cooker and if it doesn't work out with one team, it's easy to get on with another.   Then there is always the TV booth.

I don't see Steve Sarkisian stepping down from his current gig to be an OC in the NFL.

But maybe.

You're right. I don't think he'll be fired. He could leave for the NFL but I think he'll get every chance to shake up his staff and sure it probably won't work but that's what most programs do before they take the next step and fire a guy who won a conference championship and went to the playoffs two straight years. If we get blown out by Arkansas and aggy, maybe they do the mutually parting of ways. I don't see that against Arkansas.

You want everyone to think like you and it's always tough for you to deal with opposing viewpoints. It's what you do.

Nope, I don't want everyone to think like me as then they'd all be crazy.

And I openly acknowledge my vision of what may happen is just my vision and it could be incorrect. You leave no room for alternative options most of the time. Opposing view points or perspectives are not worth considering. It's fine, I love you just like you are.

Mainly I dont think Sark will change his behavior as he has shown zero willingness to do so. Further, in history on any topic, when there is a lot of smoke someone is fanning the flames. In this case, I don't claim to know who is fanning or why, but someone absolutely is somewhere.

This leads me to conclude there is a very real possibility.

Yep so suck it up because it's going to happen. What you want versus what CDC is going to do are two different things.

Whereas you state your position on the matter as fact not opinion. Again, with no margin for error.

You no more know about what CDC is going to do than I do. Sark wasn't his choice and making the playoffs is a reasonable expectation for both CDC and fans given the resources Texas has at its disposal. So is winning at least 1 of 3 games against the top team in the conference and making the conference championship. Rather than continuing to keep pace with the Georgia, IU, OSU, Aggie, Tech and Oregon teams of the world we are showed a huge drop in production rather than improving year over year.

Further, squandering known talent so visibly as we are with Arch is a bad look and all media are starting to point out Sark is the issue and not Arch.

That reality reflects poorly on a AD and it absolutely has negative impact on recruiting.

I do know that many fans and media are very aware of the issues Sark's team continues to show. I am certain CDC is equally aware.

That the possibility exists of change is pretty obvious for many. Some refuse to acknowledge realities. Particularly that college football is a billion dollar business and what happened or how things used to work don't anymore. Will a change happen, I think it possible perhaps likely. Lots of indicators to support that position. Will there be a complete overhaul of the staff under Sark, also a very real possibility.

See... I don't want or expect you or anyone else to think like me because it requires some objectivity and consideration of all possibilities. So for others to think like me it would require them to be honest about the state of Texas football, honest about the personality Sark has displayed, and willing to acknowledge they might be incorrect on their position.

I know better than to expect any of that from this place or anywhere.

Notice how I never told you to deal with it nor laid down absolute certainty of my position?

I still love you amigo even when we disagree so don't take this as me slamming you as a person. I think you're good people and that matters more to me than your opinion, my opinion or who ends up being correct.

Only way he's fired is if he really went away to rehab in the spring and some BMD's want him out. Otherwise, they'll let him shake up the staff and get a least one more year.

I have to admit I'm really down on the team this year. I thought Arch was going to unlock everything but the line is just dreadful (thought we were past that), the WR's can't hang on to the ball and the playcalling is atrocious at times. Oh, we're undisciplined AF and basically lead football in penalties.

They knew Michigan was stealing signs heading into the semifinal and built a massive lead that they nearly blew once the Wolverines realized what was going on. Then TCU went and got absolutely mudholed by Georgia in the NC game. Like worst championship game loss ever.

Bingo. The BMDs being "supportive" is how we got in this mess.

On this topic, Charlie Strong was the product of a systematic, professional search, for whatever that's worth.

Herman was a spasm of BMD, I think.  Perrin was a de facto BMD to the point of it being a hive mind.

No one knows for sure, but I think Eltife and Hartzell took Saban's recommendation of Sark and thought it made sense, while CDC was doing something else, Franklin or Dykes.

Mack was Hicks' guy while Deloss was interviewing Barnett.

It's not LSU-level shitshow, but it's not been a model of analytical consistency or well-defined responsibility.  And two of LSU's dumber hires, Miles and Orgeron, have NCs to show for it.

in which case the mannings hit the eject button on arch, portal, draft, whatever, but they see what we see, and they are not going to risk another year like this one

Maybe. Guess it depends on who they'd bring in. Sark would be here so that would be continuity. Though isn't Milwee credited bigly with getting Arch to Austin? That dude is worthless, it seems.
