Cool. LA and Chicago here. My old drummer from our sometimes band in Phx is in Chi now so would be a cool trip.

Think I showed a clip a while back of him playing a gold sparkle DW kit he bought directly from Stevie Nicks’ drummer.

What an awesome day. Wow.

Rush has been the most influential and inspirational band in my life. The first album my parents bought my brother and I was All the Worlds a Stage. I've seen them 29 times. I got to meet Geddy Lee at Book People when he did his book signing in Austin. I'd never thought I'd get to see them again and then I read the news today. All I could say was blah, blah, blah, blah.

Signed up tonight, too. 2 for Ft Worth. 2 for Chicago.

This should be cool.  She has a much deeper groove than Peart, it will change their sound quite a bit.  I hope the fans keep an open mind, she seems stellar.

I'm just glad that there will finally be a woman at a Rush concert.

I'm excited, she's got chops with taste, very syncopated and staccato and I think she will fill the void in the trio in a good way.

Also, headline should be "Cementing their legacy as musical pioneers, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee finally get a female to listen to prog rock"

Beyond that, they will now be a quartet with a dedicated keyboard player.

I stopped listening to Rush after they peaked (my opinion) with Moving Pictures.  The next album really turned me off, and random songs I'd hear down the road didn't change my point of view.  NOW I'm pumped.  It would also be interesting to hear some new stuff, although lyrics could be a problem.  First things first -- this short 7-city tour.

I did not catch the keyboardist part.  That will be interesting.  They can go for some bigger compositions now if they want.

I can see that, AFTER "Signals."

They changed over time.  There was a lot of good music put out after Moving Pictures.   But I’m maybe a wee bit biased.

She is clearly a world class player.  I can't wait to hear this.  When tickets are announced, somebody bump this thread, I'm making the trip to somewhere.

Yeah I’m going to be in on this. She’s fucking phenomenal.

This tour is going to sell out in a microsecond.  My wife already begged off, I'm polling some other family and friends, but fuck it I'll go by myself.

I had never seen Rush and on the R40 tour coming through Austin I said fuck it I'm going.  asked my high school aged son at the time if he wanted to go.  He passed.  I've never let him forget it.

I get one more shot.

The reaction so far seems to be... overwhelmingly positive.

If you stopped listening to Rush after Moving Pictures, you missed out on some amazing stuff. Especially Counterparts, Vapor Trails (the remix, not the original), and Clockwork Angels.

Well, at least there will still be one woman there.

Hey! Cut that out. I've seen women at Rush shows! And before you ask, yes, they were in the audience.

Now, I haven't seen any STRAIGHT women at Rush shows ...

My ex wife is/was a Rush freak.  (Her brother is a drummer though)

I'm just joking. But you and I both know the demographics do really heavily lean male...

I've heard it.  Didn't like it.

There will be two women there as I have talked my daughter into going.  It is funny because I was literally telling (boring) her last week about how Rush was my 1st band that I totally geeked out over around freshman year of high school and how hardly any girls would be at the shows and how their kickass drummer died, never to be replaced.

I didn't think she would care for it but she said "It sounds like fun."  We are driving out to Alpine in a couple of weeks so we will see if she still feels that way after a 7 hour drive listening to the complete discography (or maybe just through Exit Stage Left).
