18/5/2 at Cal this last year on 42/32/82 splits. Up from 7/3.5/1 at Stanford his freshman year on 41/32/58 splits.

He's a nice player who has to learn how not to be a ball hog and shoot every time the ball hits his hands.  When he is on, he can go for 37, when he's off he'll shoot 4-23 and grind out 15 points because he is a good free throw shooter who draws contact.

He was originally going to stay at Cal but the money that guys are getting this off season is redonk.  Illinois lured him into the portal but he has a host of blue bloods negotiating with him now.

Miami? Haha. Guess he got a shit ton of money.

He's been under the Lucas family tutelage since he was a kid, so I'm sure the money is there but that's not the primary reason.

2025 Targets -- April 21 update
Evan Boisdur, Guard (6-1, 180), French ProA U21
21.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 3.2 steals per game this season. 44.3 percent from the field.

Boisdur, an international propsect, has been in communication with Texas head coach Sean Miller and assistant Adam Cohen this week. They're talking about setting up a visit in the near future. Boisdur is also lined up to speak with Florida this week. This could be a Longhorns-Gators battle.

Do we need another short shooting guard?

Miller likes to spread the floor and hoist 3s. To do that successfully it's helpful to have players that can make them.

I know everyone wants a true point guard. I'm not sure it's in the cards for this upcoming season. Hope that Mark stays healthy. The goal was always to bring another combo guard in. This kid seems to fit the bill. If it's a Florida-Texas battle, that's pretty good company to be keeping.

This is a roster being put together on the fly. I've said this before, but think of it as akin to Beard's first roster. Then hopefully we'll see things come together a little more completely in year 2. I'm assuming we're going to see a lot of evidence of a work in progress for next year's team. I also like the idea of beginning to develop relationships in international circles.

But we haven't gotten the kid in yet, so we'll see what happens.

Saw one site had Boisdur listed at 5'11" and another had 6'2".

That's what we need, a guy that can play the 1 & the 2 at the same time.

Looks like he's 6'

Any position with “shooting” in it, we need. Hate losing 5️ Texas prospects but sounds like he was Lucas or bust. Sure hope miller can lock down some of these top talent next year. Need one more big fish

I prefer experience over 5* one-and-dones.

Texas the team to watch for St. John’s transfer Simeon Wilcher
Accoring to a source, Texas is the team to watch for St. John’s transfer Simeon Wilcher.
The 6-foot-4 sophomore was originally committed to North Carolina out of high school. Former top-40 recruit.

I have no problem with a 6' guard if he is quick, can bring the ball up-court as needed, shoots a decent clip when open, and has the ability to adequately stay in front of and harass the opponent's ball handling guard.  If he can beat his man off the dribble, that's a plus.  You can play with a shorter PG so long as he can cover his man on defense and had a good handle.  The problem with Abmas was he was a weak defender and weak ballhandler for a PG and he was physically limited in the SG or swing man role (which he often seemed to be forced into on offense).  Granted, he also didn't get much help with coaching adjustments when opponents were able to get him switched into having to defend in the paint.

Obviously, when you run out a couple short guards, there are going to be problems on defense.  We won't have this issue next season.

I’ve literally never understood why “height without shoes” has been a thing. There won’t be any game at any point he ever has to play barefoot. Measure guys in game shoes because that’s there playing height and all that matters. I give two fucks what his height is at home walking through his kitchen.

Shoes or no shoes doesn't matter, it's whether they all measure them in the same level of shod-ness.

This. Shoes add differently to height depending on the cleat/spike, sole, and insole/insert. To me, player height is player height.

If Pitino recruited him, you know he's a good ball player.

He's a top 50 player who committed to North Carolina out of high school, but it didn't work out. Pitino scooped him up on the rebound. It's not like the kid is some diamond in the rough. Everyone was recruiting this kid.

Oh for sure. I was just saying Pitino is an all-time great and coaches his players to be great. He's not a diamond in the rough, I just suspect that he wanted a change of scenery, but also the chance to play at a bigger brand of school.

I could also be wrong, and that would be 1500th time on this site.

Dia Bell's younger brother is a top prospect, too, although he's only a freshman right now. Apparently Raja Bell LOVES Sean Miller.

Apparently everyone loves Sean Miller.

He sure does get a lot of love for someone who has never even been to a Final Four, much less a Final.

🤷‍♂️

Texas women's basketball signs shooting guard from Ireland

Chip Brown (Horns 247)

AUSTIN, Texas — Grace Prenter, a 5-foot-7 shooting guard who played on Ireland's U20 national team, has committed to Texas as a 2025 incoming freshman, a source close to the situation told Horns247.

Prenter, a 40 percent 3-point shooter, figures to help space the floor for a Longhorns team with several key starters returning from a squad that reached the Final Four  last season, including forward Madison Booker, veteran point guard Rori Harmon, sophomore guards Jordan Lee and Bryanna Preston as well as 6-foot-6 senior center Kyla Oldacre.

In seven games with Ireland's FIBA U20 EuroBasket Division B team in 2024, Prenter averaged 14.3 points, 5.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds. In seven games with Ireland's FIBA U18 EuroBasket Division B team in 2024, Prenter averaged 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Prenter becomes the latest member of Texas' 2025 recruiting class that includes incoming freshman and McDonald's All-American guard Aaliyah Crump, the nation's No. 4 prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle, as well as transfers - 6-foot-1 guard Ashton Judd of Missouri , 6-foot-1 forward Teya Sidberry of Boston College, 6-foot-4 F Breya Cunningham of Arizona and 6-foot-6 C Lovisa Asbrink Hose of Florida Atlantic.

Cunningham, one of the top players available in the transfer portal this off-season, averaged 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 56% for Arizona last season and was fourth in the Big 12 in blocked shots with 56.

Cunningham, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, teamed with Texas All-American Madison Booker on USA Basketball's team that won gold in the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup.

Judd, who averaged 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds for Mizzou last season, has one season of eligibility remaining, while Sidberry, who averaged 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds last season at Boston College, has two years of eligibility remaining.

Asbrink Hose averaged 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a freshman at FAU, where she played in 22 games with five starts for the Owls. She has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The signings help the Longhorns fill the recent transfer portal departures of 6-foot-2 guard/forward Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda  and 6-foot-1 guard Laila Phelia.

Completing the 2025-26 roster ...
Texas has two scholarship spots remaining. One spot is a lock to be used. As of today, it's expected to be an international player. And that player could be another impact big man, or a role playing guard.
