Can Warby Parker fix "Bipolar" for Arch ???

image.jpeg.f65a054972ca426b7967bd1212287aee.jpeg

hmm, his volatility is getting more heteroscedastic with the kentucky game. he was on his way to a damn near perfect predictive regression data sampling there until uk.

Point is, the "He just needs more time and experience" excuse isn't going to cut it anymore.

totally fair take for a guy with 9 career starts.

He needs a running game more than anything else to take some of the pressure off him.  I'm no apologist, but he's throwing the ball so damn much because they are no other options.

we came out against kentucky and just abandoned the run from the jump. oklahoma has the #3 run defense in the country and we ran on them just fine, because we actually made it a point of emphasis. sark called every single play vs kentucky like it was 3rd and 8. arch is already limited enough, we didn’t need to make it worse with that inexplicable game plan.

You have no idea what you are talking about on this post.

When has that stopped him?

Its like @Derka doesn't even listen to the coach. Sark told us years ago how he calls games and the whole Sark loop. He explained how he uses the run game to get the second level to react then he RPO's them. Then when the safeties walk down to deal with the RPO he hits them over the top. So basically Sark is telling us he coaches by the numbers. Wherever he has a numbers advantage he looks to exploit it. So it should be self explanatory that if Sark sees Kentucky, a team that plays primarily zone, basically playing man coverage all game with extra bodies in the run game he is going to try and exploit that with mesh concepts and man beaters. He did that but we couldn't hit the receivers. So when we see Sark abandon the run just look at what the defense is doing for an answer why. OU wasn't doing that so of course we ran a different gameplan

Almost everyone on the offense has sucked, should they all be benched?

I think the Mannings are probably fucking pissed.  They sent Arch to Texas thinking we were going to surround him with talent.  Instead, we went through offseason with this dog shit Oline.  Not saying Arch doesn't have his issues, which he does.  But he would certainly look way fucking better if the Oline could block and run block.

Exactly

He’s not surrounded by the talent they expected and he’s looking like shit. The mannings aren’t here for the money. They’re after legacy and a long NFL career. Arch is getting killed, humiliated, dragged by the internet, and he’s fucking miserable. Why wouldn’t he transfer after this season?

Because he's a good teammate and he loves Texas, remember that one video of him as a kid?

If Sarkisian would fire his cuddle buddy Kyle Flood and actually hire an o-line coach that knows what the fuck they're doing, and how to recruit anything above a 3* we could probably get this shit shored up. I believe Flood is gone after the season, and not because Sark is doing it, but because CDC is making him do it. The jury is out on Milwee, but it ain't looking good for development of QBs so far for him.

Arch Manning is a redshirt sophomore and has now thrown 284 career passes at Texas.

  • By the time Quinn Ewers reached 284 career passes, he was a redshirt freshman in the middle of throwing for 369 yards and 1 TD against Washington in the Alamo Bowl, with no Bijan Robinson, behind a young and inconsistent offensive line featuring four underclassmen (Banks and Hutson were freshmen, Majors and Conner were sophomores).
  • By the time Sam Ehlinger reached 284 career passes, he was a sophomore in the middle of throwing for 237 yards and 2 scores against Tulsa. This was sandwiched between the demoralizing 29-34 loss to Maryland and the uplifting 37-14 win over 22nd-ranked USC that started a six-game winning streak.
  • By the time Garrett Gilbert reached 284 career passes, he was a sophomore in the middle of throwing for 344 yards, 2 TDs and 3 INTs in a humiliating loss to Iowa State at DKR that sounded the death knell for the 2010 season.
  • By the time Colt McCoy reached 284 career passes, he was a redshirt freshman in the middle of throwing for 308 yards and 2 TDs against Iowa in the Alamo Bowl, tying the NCAA record for most touchdown passes by a freshman.
  • By the time Vince Young reached 284 career passes, he was a redshirt sophomore in the middle of throwing for 278 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs and rushing for 123 yards and a score during our dramatic 56-35 comeback win against Okie Lite.

Point is, the "He just needs more time and experience" excuse isn't going to cut it anymore. Ewers and Ehlinger had all shown significant, obvious improvement at the same point in their careers despite playing behind struggling offensive lines. McCoy was legitimately one of the best freshman QBs in the country (he had a much better O-line, of course). VY was still very inconsistent as a passer but had gamebreaking ability as a runner to make up for it. Note that VY, McCoy and Gilbert were all saddled with GDGD as a playcaller, and Ehlinger had to deal with Herman using him as a fullback every other play.

Only Gilbert had not shown any real improvement or any hint of a signature performance at this point in his career, and we all know how it ended. Like Manning, he had a subpar offensive line, a lack of elite WR talent, and subpar offensive playcalling to work with.

I know this was meant as an indictment of Arch, but I kind of didn't read it that way

Oh he’s gone gone. Ole Miss will be a nice spot for him the next 2 years.

I've made peace with us definitely not replacing Arch. Run game needs to improve, which should lead to more pass blocking success, and he has got to limit these throwing blunders - he has shown he can no so much better than what we saw at UK, but we've got to help him and he's got to help himself.

If we can do that, our defense will be well rested enough to keep us in any game. Except maybe Georgia.

Arch isn't leaving. The Manning family plan was to have him sit two years and play two. They're not changing course because of fan/internet noise. He's been not great and has acknowledged that. If season plays out as is, I do think we'll go get OL help for next year. Only question is can they fix enough now.

You sound like the 40 YO bald tech bros yapping on the shuttle to COTA this weekend.  They knew everything about everything, and (shocker) were big Joe Rogan fans.  Seem familiar?

Arch Manning is not good at the game of football.

Arch is a football player. He isn't yet a QB. I still think he gets there.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how this current offense could salvage their season going forward.  Just move the damn chains more, get more 1st downs, and hopefully score 24+ points/game.

Is there a run blocking scheme that this current o-line can actually execute consistently??  What pass plays can Sark use early in games to give Arch more confidence and success??  What can Sark, Flood, and Banks do to produce better blocking results??

May just have to dumb some things down, and work on a smaller list of offensive plays for awhile.  Then just practice the hell out of those plays so the offense executes them properly.

This offense has to quit shooting themse!ves in the foot with dumb mistakes...

Yeah I think he can get there after ~3 years on an NFL practice squad. At the end of the day, the NFL still wants nothing more than a Manning to be a starting QB somewhere, so they'll give him all the time/chances in the world to develop.
